Wi-Fi facility to be launched today at Secunderabad Railway Station

As a bone to the tech-savvy travelling public, the Secunderabad railway station will have Wi-Fi facility from Tuesday and the facility will be launched by the Union Minister of state for Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya.

This is being done as a part of a modernization process for all ‘A’ and ‘A1’ category stations across the country. Railway stations in New Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore already have wi-fi facility.

Man Sodomises 6-Year-Old Boy in Thane, Threatens Him Against Complaining

A 40-year-old man allegedly sodomised a six-year-old boy for nearly eight months and threatened him with dire consequences if he revealed the offence to anyone, police said today.

The accused sodomised the boy residing in his neighbourhood from August 2014 till last month at his home in Sawarkar Nagar area of the city by calling him on some pretext, Vartak Nagar police station sub-inspector Sayli Chavan said.

Won’t Tolerate Raising of Pro-Pakistan Slogans: Rajnath

Affirming the BJP’s stand on abrogating Article 370 of the constitution, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday asserted the government will not tolerate anyone raising pro-Pakistan slogans.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which heads the ruling National Democratic Alliance government, has steadfastly demanded over the years that Article 370 which guarantees a special status to Jammu and Kashmir be repealed.

“There are no two ways about our stand on Article 370,” Singh told mediapersons here.

Heat wave may subside in Telangana, Red alert for AP

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the heat wave conditions may subside in Telangana in the next 24 hours and has issued a red alert for Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next 48 hours.

However, the worst is not over yet and the weather will still be hot with mercury hovering around 42- 43 degree Celsius. “Therefore, people are advised to take precautions,” said YK Reddy, director-in-charge, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre.

Woman raped by neighbour; accused held

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour following which he has been arrested today.

DSP Manpreet Singh Dhillon said the accused Jaspal Singh alias Jassa, 30, took the victim to Ludhiana and raped her in a guest house there two weeks ago.

The victim lodged a complaint yesterday following which Singh was arrested today, police said.

The woman’s medical examination was done at a local civil hospital yesterday.

A case under section 376 (Punishment for rape) of the IPC has been registered against the accused, DSP said.

As the Irish government has approved the same-sex marriage with 1.2 million people of Ireland voting in its favour, B-Town celebrities including Hrithik Roshan have also supported the decision.

Union Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday said the Congress has no moral right to criticise the Centre, which has successfully provided a corruption-free government to the country in the past one year.

Four children injured in explosion in UP

Four children were today injured in an explosion in a heap of garbage at Chhapegram village in Bijnore district, police said here.

The incident took place at about 11 AM in Nahtaur area when the children identified as Jikara (7), Asif (4), Rehbar (5) and Ali (2) were playing near a heap of garbage, they said.

All of them were rushed to the district hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Prima facie the explosion appears to be caused by firecrackers thrown in the garbage, police said, adding, they are probing the matter.

Himachal hills continue to sizzle

The hills of Himachal Pradesh continued to sizzle Sunday with Una recording a maximum temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius and state capital Shimla a high of 29.2 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.

“Most of the towns recorded a maximum temperature of three to seven notches above the average, mainly due to lack of rains,” an official of the meteorological office here told IANS.

He said Shimla’s maximum temperature was seven notches above the average.

However, some of the areas, including Shimla, saw mild rains.

It is not appropriate for the Indian armed forces forever to fly their fleet to the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) for repairs, a top scientist said here on Friday.

“The equipment repair overall, they give to the OEM, they go back to Israel or anywhere the equipment is bought from. That is not the appropriate way of doing it forever,” said K. Tamilmani, director general of Aeronautical Systems, told IANS on the sidelines of the launch of India MRO.

Heatwave claims 58 lives in Telangana; toll reaches 186

The intense heatwave in Telangana today claimed 58 more lives, taking the death toll to 186 in the state.

“186 persons lost their lives in 10 districts of Telangana as per information available till 5 PM today,” a senior official of State Disaster Management Department, told PTI.

Nalgonda district recorded the maximum number 55 of deaths, followed by Khammam district at 43 and Mahabubnagar district at 23, the official said.

In Hyderabad, two persons have died due to heatwave.

The toll is registered from April 15 in Telangana, the official said.
