Jet Airways offers 25 per cent discount on 1-million domestic tickets

Private carrier Jet Airways on Wednesday put 1-million economy class seats up for sale, with a flat 25 per cent discount for a limited period, on its domestic network.

The four-day mega fare offer will be available for sale from May 27 to 30 and valid for travel from June 15 to October 15, the airlines said in a release.

The four-day booking period offer is valid for economy class travel on the airline’s domestic network, it said.

Homeguard among three nabbed for stealing bikes

A homeguard was among three people arrested by the police here for allegedly stealing bikes, from whom 30 stolen two wheelers were seized, it was officially announced here today.

According to a release issued here by the Panjagutta police officials, accused S Bikshapathi Raju, who is a homeguard attached to the Karimnagar Headquarters in Telangana, R Anjaiah who is an autoricksahw driver and S Devender who is a private employee were arrested yesterday and 19 cases filed at different police stations in the city were detected.

A beekeeper in China has a set a new Guinness World record after covering his body with almost 1.1 million crawling bees weighing a massive 109 kg.

Gao Bingguo, a 55-year-old beekeeper from Tai’an City, took the challenge on Monday by having beekeepers pour the insects onto his body. He was stung over 2,000 times and his body temperature rose to over 60 degrees Celsius, but he survived the ordeal and set a new record, smashing the previous one of over 85kg of bees, metro.co.uk reported.

“Stressful commute is linked to three dimensions of burnout: emotional burnout, cynicism and professional efficacy,” said researcher Annie Barreck from the University of Montreal in Canada.

She, however, noted that the “effects of the duration of a commute on a person’s mental health vary according to the type of transport used and the profile of the area where the person works”.

House maid dies in fire in South Delhi

A middle-aged woman working as a domestic help was burnt to death when a fire broke out at her employer’s house in south Delhi on Wednesday afternoon, a fire official said.

“Around 1 p.m., we got a call regarding the fire at a house in Green Park. We immediately rushed three fire tenders to the spot. We extinguished the fire but the woman later died of burn injuries,” the fire official said.

Police identified the maid as Mamta (50).

“Mamta was badly burnt in the fire. She was immediately taken to Safdarjang hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead,” police said.

Tremors jolt Nepal again; over 273 aftershocks in last one month

Three mild tremors jolted Nepal on Wednesday, a month after the devastating earthquake ravaged the country killing nearly 9,000 people.

A 4.6 magnitude tremor was felt at 1.16 pm with epicenter at Sindhupalchowk district, 75 km north-east of Kathmandu.

Another 4.5 magnitude tremor was felt at 1.15 pm with Sindhupalchowk epicenter.

Earlier, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 12.03 pm with epicenter at Dolakha district situated in the east of Kathmandu, according to National Seismological Centre, Kathmandu.

Paying full attention on strengthening the party in Hyderabad city particularly in view of the ensuing GHMC elections, the State govt approved Housing policy for successful implementation of its flagship 2-bedroom houses for weaker sections.

35-year-old man arrested for killing elderly parents in Uttar Pradesh

A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his parents in connivance with his relatives in Shamli district, police said on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia is planning to build the world’s largest hotel with 10,000 rooms at a whopping USD 3.5 billion in the holiest city of Mecca.

Designed by Dar Al Handasah group, the project has a total built area of 1.4 million square meter and will be set in the Manafia area in Mecca’s central zone, DesignMENA reported.
