Hundreds of Muslims have returned to the village, after the communal violence on May 25 compels them to flee from the village, but eddy of worries for the Muslims prevailed after a section of the dominant Jat community in the village approached a Faridabad court on Friday, seeking a stay on the construction of the mosque.

The riot victims returned only on Wednesday after being assured that their demands ‘the arrest of accused of rioting and reconstruction of the mosque’ would be met.

U.S. denies visa to 20 Indians archers

India’s participation in the World Youth Archery Championships has been thrown into jeopardy after 20 members of a 31-strong team, including Korean coach Chae Wom Lim, were denied visa by the United States embassy here.

The Indian contingent, comprising Under-20 boys and girls, junior archers were scheduled to leave for the U.S. on Saturday for the June 8—14 event in Yankton, South Dakota.

Malaysian PM approves $26 million for Indian community’s uplift

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has approved 100 million Malaysian ringgit (about $26 million) for the uplift of the Indian community in the country.

The fund was approved to the Special Unit for Socio-Economic Development of the Indian Community (Sedic), Malaysia’s Bernama news agency reported.

Sedic Director N.S.Rajendran on Friday said it was an effort to create opportunities to improve the lives of 40 percent of the 2.6 million ethnic Indians in the southeast Asian nation.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday said that the 100-acre land of Race Course in Malakpet will be use for housing of the weaker section and the race course would be shifted away from city.

“It will be no loss to them. It does not matter to the rich even if they have to travel 50 km away, but construction of houses there will make a difference to thousands of poor,” he said at a meeting in NBT Nagar of Khairatabad constituency where he lashed out at successive governments, primarily the Congress, for neglecting the poor.

India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) on Friday maintained a negative outlook on domestic gold prices for FY 2015-16 and said rates are likely to decline to touch Rs 20,500 per 10 grams in India from the current levels if the US Federal Reserve effects a rate hike.

“If things go well, the south-west monsoons, which made landfall in Kerala on Friday, will hit the State in another three to four days after covering the Rayalaseema region of neighboring Andhra Pradesh in next 48 hours”, IMD Assistant Meteorologist M. Narasimha Rao said.

The State has already experienced pre-monsoon showers for the last couple of days, bringing down the maximum temperature considerably in some states of Telangana.

Goa tourism minister courts controversy; calls gangrape accused naive

Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar has courted controversy after he described the accused in the gangrape of two Delhi-based women in the state as “naive” and chose to dismiss the crime as a stray incident.

“Such stray incidents are bound to take place in a busy tourist destinations like Goa,” Parulekar said on Thursday night.

“The boys are ‘nadaan’ (naive) and they have small crimes registered against them…this will not happen in future,” he said.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said the state government “did not find any unwanted material” in Maggi noodles samples sent for laboratory testing.

“We have so far not found any unwanted material in Maggi samples sent for testing. The tests will continue,” Banerjee told the media here.

“The centre has issued a circular regarding Maggi instant noodles. This is a matter on the concurrent list,” she added.

No bar on Indian workers to Saudi Arabia: embassy

The Indian government has not put curbs on sending workers to Saudi Arabia, the Indian embassy here has said.

A report published by a local media outlet said India had suspended sending workers to Saudi Arabia, citing a Saudi labour directive that 25 percent of all foreign manpower must be housemaids, Arab News reported.

Indian embassy spokesman Hifzur Rahman said: “The Indian government has not issued any statement that suspends sending workers to the kingdom. Any such report is planted and misleading.”

R Seshasayee replaces KV Kamath as Non-Executive Chairman of Infosys

Country’s second-largest software services firm Infosys today said its Board has appointed R Seshasayee the Non-Executive Chairman with immediate effect to replace veteran banker K V Kamath.

Kamath is stepping down from his position as Chairman of the Board and as an Independent Director at the Bangalore-based firm following his nomination as President of the New Development Bank, which is being set up by BRICS countries.

Seshasayee has been an Independent Director on the Board since January 2011 and is the chairperson of the Audit Committee, Infosys said in a statement.

Maggi samples being tested in Telangana too

The samples of Maggi instant noodles are being tested at a lab here as part of the nationwide exercise over the alleged presence of mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) and lead in their food products.

“We have taken 22 samples from our state. We have sent them for screening. Actual reporting time is two weeks maximum,” K Amarender Reddy, Director of Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM), Telangana, told PTI here.

The samples were lifted on Monday last, he said. The testing is being done as part of the nationwide drive on the directives from the Central food safety body, Reddy said.

Rs 10 lakh in two bags found at Andhra Pradesh minister’s home

Two bags containing a total of Rs 10 lakh were found at Andhra Pradesh’s Women Welfare Minister P Sujatha’s home in Eluru town in West Godavari district on Tuesday.

Sujatha, who was not home when the bags were found, has claimed the money is not hers. A domestic help who found the bag informed Babji, father of the minister, who called the police.

Muslim organizations in Mumbai have decided to meet the chief minister on Wednesday asking that Yoga sessions should not be made compulsory for Muslims.

Days after Maharashtra government passed a command for schools to remain open on Sunday, i.e. on June 21, to mark International Yoga Day. Several Muslim outfits in Mumbai slammed the order saying that yoga, including Surya Namaskar, requires a person to bow (to Sun God), and bowing was a practice reserved for Namaz.
