The Quli Qutb Shahi Heritage Park spread over 108 acres is comprised of a vast range of habitats mapping more than 3,000 flora and 52 varieties of fauna has thrown light on availability of some of the rarest species in the city.

The Quli Qutb Shah Archaeological Park, comprising of the Qutb Shahi Tombs Complex and Deccan Park, is one of the most significant medieval necropolises with 70 structures. Besides being the most significant heritage site in Hyderabad, is a large single green space with over 100 acres of greenery.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has welcomed the historic ruling by the US Supreme Court recognizing gay marriage across the country, saying the decision marks a “great step forward” for human rights in America.

5.6 Magnitude earth quake strikes Assam, this early morning

An earthquake of intensity measuring 5.6 on the Ritcher scale struck Assam on Sunday morning at around 6:40 am, reports the US Geological Survey (USGS).

However, according to TV reports no loss of life or property was reported so far.

Mild Tremors were felt in Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and eastern part of India.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department reports, the epicentre of the earthquake is reported to be in Kokrajhar 23km north of Basugaon in Assam.

7-Month-Old Infant Dies After Receiving Anti-Polio Injection in Bihar

A seven-month-old girl died while six other children are undergoing treatment at a government hospital after being administered anti-polio injections at Shahpur village in Bihar’s Vaishali district.

Civil Surgeon (CS) of Vaishali Ramashish Kumar said that seven-month-old girl Sonali Kumari died at her home late last night after she was administered the anti-polio injection during the day.

Kuwait conducts mass funeral as police question suspects

Thousands of people in Kuwait took part in a mass funeral procession on Saturday for 27 people killed in a suicide bombing that targeted a Shiite mosque a day earlier.

Police in Kuwait said they are interrogating a number of suspects with possible links to the suicide bombing, which was claimed by an affiliate of the Islamic State group. An Interior Ministry statement today said police arrested the owner of the car that was used by the bomber to drive to the Imam Sadiq Mosque in Kuwait City, where he detonated his device inside among the worshippers.

Research scholar molested in IIT-K

A research scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, was allegedly molested by a contractual sweeper while she was asleep in the institute’s hostel, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Thursday night.
The suspect was arrested and produced before a court on Friday, said West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Bharati Ghosh. The accused was granted bail.

35 Per cent Voter Turnout Recorded Till Noon in Megahalaya Bypoll

A voter turnout of 35 per cent was recorded till noon for the ongoing Assembly bypoll in Chokpot constituency of Meghalaya.

“Voting is on in all the 46 polling booths in the constituency. The voter turnout till 12 noon was about 35 per cent,” Returning Officer Tangseng G Momin told PTI.

There was no untoward incident and voting was peaceful, he said, adding that information from all booths was yet to be obtained in view of poor connectivity.

Over 24,000 electors are eligible to exercise their franchise to elect one out of the four candidates in fray.

A new study has revealed how our brains can form first impressions quickly.

Scientists at the University of Edinburgh and the Aix Marseille Universite examined why volunteers who were shown hundreds of pictures, some with animals and some without, were able to detect animals in as little as one-tenth of a second.

They found that one of the first parts of the brain to process visual information, the primary visual cortex, can control this fast response, rather than more complex parts of the brain being required, as previously thought.
