Siasat & MDF to hold Du Ba Du marriage settlement programme

On the request of residents of Banjara Hills, First Lancer, Ahmed Nagar Zahra Nagar and surrounding areas, Siasat and Minorities Development Forum (MDF) are organising the 43rd Du Ba Du programme on Sunday, July 5, at Khaja Mansion Function Hall, Mansaheb Tank, Banjara Hills Road.

Mr. Abid Siddiqui president MDF told that in view of the month of Holy Ramadan the programme is being organised as several Muslim youth visit their hometown from gulf countries, America and Australia and London.

Jalsa Yaumul Quran by MBT at Makkah Masjid

Jalsa Yaumul Quran by Majlis Bachao Tahreek will be held at Makkah Masjid on July 3 after Friday prayers. Dr. Qayam Khan president Tahreek will supervise. Programme will begin with the Quranic recitation of Hafez and Qari Syed Abdul Qader Faisal. Meraj Ahmed, Mohammed Naseeruddin, Hafez Nawal ur Rahman, Syed Ali Adil will present Naat-e-Shareef. Senior leaders of the Tahreek Maulana Syed Taher, Syed Mustafa Mahmood and other leaders will address. Mohammed Majeedullah Khan Farhat will deliver special address. UN Security Council threatens sanctions over Libya deal

The UN Security Council today urged Libya’s parties to sign an agreement to form a national unity government and threatened sanctions against those who stand in the way of a deal.

UN envoy Bernardino Leon has submitted a draft proposal that he said could be ready for endorsement when peace talks resume in Morocco tomorrow.

Security Council members said in a unanimous statement that “there can be no military solution to the crisis in Libya” and urged all sides to “sign the proposal presented by the UN support mission in Libya in the coming days.”

ECB will not increase liquidity lifeline to Greek banks

The European Central Bank’s governing council today decided not to increase the liquidity lifeline to cash-strapped Greek banks, a Greek banking source said.

The bank is “ready to intervene as and when necessary,” the source said, adding that “no other decision was taken” at the ECB meeting.

It was the ECB’s decision on Sunday to refuse to increase emergency funding for Greek banks that pushed Athens to close lenders and impose the capital controls.

Cubans hail diplomatic ties with US

As word spread that the United States will soon turn its interests section into a full-fledged embassy in Havana, Cubans standing outside the mission voiced hope for a better future.

Hundreds of Cubans wait at a square nicknamed the “Park of Sighs” for hours every day for their turn to enter the nearby interests section in the hope of getting a visa.

US study: Polar bears could feel global warming by 2025

A US government report indicates about a third of the world’s polar bears could be in imminent danger from greenhouse gas emissions as soon as 2025.

The US Geological Survey says updated scientific models don’t bode well for polar bear populations across the world, especially in Alaska, the only US state with the white bears.
