ISIS threatens to kill British jihadis wanting to return home

Muslim extremists from Britain, who went to Syria and Iraq to fight alongside the Islamic State, are now desperate to return home but are facing death threats from the militant group’s top leaders, a media report said.

“There are Britons who upon wanting to leave have been threatened with death, either directly or indirectly,” the Guardian reported, citing a source with extensive contacts among Syrian militant groups.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain today claimed that the people of Sindh have spoken out in favour of new provinces in Pakistan by observing a ‘black day’ against a rival PPP leader’s remarks about ‘Muhajirs’.

“Several producers have expressed interest to remake ‘Kaththi’ in Telugu. Pawan Kalyan is the top contender in the list of actors to play the lead in the remake. But the makers of the original haven’t yet sold the remake rights,” a source close to producers of “Kaththi” told IANS.

After Hudhud, severe cyclone Nilofar heading towards Gujarat coast

After cyclone Hudhud caused devastation in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, the north Gujarat coast is expected to bear the brunt of cyclone Nilofar.

The storm is expected to make landfall on October 31 with a wind speed of over 120 kmph and is also expected to hit adjoining Karachi.

India Met Department, after issuing a pre-cyclone watch for north Gujarat coast, in its update said Nilofar is was located 1,270 km west-southwest of Mumbai on Sunday afternoon.

Cancer Awareness Walkathon organised in Ludhiana

Researchers from the University of Sydney in Australia analysed how food that was nutritionally poor was marketed on social media sites and focused on the audience that was most likely to be engaged with marketing of this kind.

What led to extinction of the giant shark

By analysing dozens of Megalodon fossils, researchers estimated that the ancient shark, the largest to ever live, is likely to have gone extinct about 2.6 million years ago.

While researchers are still not clear as to why these giant, 60-foot-long sharks (Carcharocles megalodon) went extinct, scientists now have a better estimate for when it happened.

“We get 10,000 estimates for the time the species went extinct and then we look at the distribution of those estimates through time,” Live Science quoted Chris Clements, research assistant at the University of Zurich, as saying.

7. 4 cups leftover cooked rice (regular long-grain or quick-cooking brown)
8. 3/4 cup chopped green onion (more of the white part)

10. 1 tbsp dark til (sesame) oil

Method
1. Cut chicken into bite-sized chunks. Heat 1tbsp peanut oil over high heat. Add chicken and cook, stirring occasionally. Add onion to the chicken.

Three-time Thiruvananthapuram LS member A.Charles dead

A. Charles, senior Congress leader and the only person to win thrice from the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency, died Sunday morning at a private hospital.

He was 84 and was suffering from age related health issues for a while.

Hailing from the powerful Nadar community in the capital district, Charles with no political background was handpicked by K. Karunakaran to contest the 1984 Lok Sabha polls.

Delhi HC upholds 10-yr term of man for raping two minor daughters

The Delhi High Court has upheld a lower court verdict awarding 10 years jail term to a man for raping his two minor daughters saying that “absolutely no motive” can be attributed to the victims that they implicated their father.

Justice Pratibha Rani, refusing to show any leniency to the convict, referred to the observations made by the apex court in a case and said there can never be “more graver and heinous crime” than the father raping his daughters.

Swiss gold exports to India cross CHF 11-bn; banks turn wary

As banks in Switzerland come under greater black money scrutiny, the quantum of gold having left Swiss shores for India so far this year has reached a record high level of over 11 billion Swiss francs (about Rs 70,000 crore).

The gold exports from Switzerland to India stood at over 2.2 billion Swiss francs (about Rs 15,000 crore) in September alone, which is double the figure for the previous month, shows latest data released by Swiss Customs Administration.
