I was hesitant about lip-lock: Kriti Sanon

Actress Kriti Sanon, who is making her big screen debut with ‘Heropanti’, has locked lips with newcomer Tiger Shroff for the film. But she says she was hesitant about it as she comes from a conservative family.

“When Sabbir Khan (the film`s director) told me about the lip-lock scene, I was hesitant about it. I told him – `Can`t we just skip this? Is it that important?` But he said it was an important scene and it goes with the flow and it won`t look out of place,” Kriti said.

Eventually, she agreed to the scene, and says “it all went off well”.

Twitter shares hit all time low

Twitter’s shares faced an all time low, coming to 34.40 dollars, after massive quantity of 65 million shares of Twitter stock unlocked today.

According to TechCrunch, Twitter is trading around the 34.40 dollar mark, which is slightly more than a new record low of $34 that it set earlier today.

However the normal volume for Twitter is around 13 million, against the massive 65 million, which unlocked today.

Researchers have created a map using data from the Planck Space Telescope.

Since 2009, Planck has charted the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), the light from the Universe a mere 380,000 years after the Big Bang.

But Planck also observes light from much closer than the farthest reaches of time and space. With an instrument called the High Frequency Instrument (HFI), Planck detects the light from microscopic dust particles within our Galaxy. (The density of this dust is incredibly low; a volume of space equal to a large sports stadium or arena would contain one grain.)

Woman shot at in Lucknow for resisting chain snatcher

A woman was shot at twice late Tuesday here when she resisted a chain snatcher, police said Wednesday.

The shooting took place around 11.30 p.m. when two men attacked Meenakshi, wife of a retired engineer, and tried to snatch her chain while she was opening the gate of her house.

When she resisted and raised an alarm, the bike-riding looters opened fire and shot her in stomach and leg.

The attackers then fled and are yet to be arrested.

Police are readying sketches of the culprits on the basis of information given by a neighbour, an official told IANS.

Odisha Police’s former intelligence chief kills self

A former chief of Odisha Police’s intelligence wing committed suicide at his home in Cuttack town Tuesday night, an official said Wednesday.

Indrajit Jachak, 70, was found dead at his home in Deula Sahi, about 25 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, police official S.K. Patnaik said.

“He was under depression. The circumstantial evidence suggests a clear case of suicide,” Patnaik told IANS, adding the cause of his depression is not known yet.

SC strikes down Kerala Act that restricts dam height

In a jolt to the Kerala government, the Supreme Court Wednesday struck down an Act that has sought to restrict the water level in Mullaperiyar dam at 136 feet.

The apex court constitution bench headed by Chief Justice R.M. Lodha, while striking down the Kerala Irrigation Water Conservation Act, said that the water level in the dam could be increased to 142 feet.

Holding that there was no threat to the safety of the 120-year old dam, the court Wednesday set up a three-member committee under whose supervision the water level will be increased from 136 feet to 142 feet.

Five more bodies recovered from troubled Assam districts

Five more bodies were found this morning from two trouble-torn districts of Assam, taking the toll in the violence unleashed by ultras to 41.

The bodies, which were recovered from Beki river that flows from Baksa district, are yet to be identified.

“Officially, we have not identified the bodies yet but the families have identified them to be from the affected areas,” Baksa DC Vinod Seshan said.

“However, identification has to be done to ascertain whether these are the victims of the attack in Narayanguri and Hagrabari villages,” Seshan told PTI.

According to the TechCrunch website, Google is planning to debut Google Wallet on Google Glass.

If this is true, as reports say internal testings are one, you can make mobile payments from within the Wallet app by simply saying “send money”.

Google would charge a 2.9 percent fee for the transactions, the website added.

The new Crew Space Transportation (CST-100) vehicle, funded by NASA as part of its ‘Commercial Crew Integrated Capability’ initiative, is designed to transport crew and cargo to low-earth orbit.

Energy drinks consumption linked to smoking

Weekly consumption of sports drinks and energy drinks among teens is linked to higher consumption of other sugar-sweetened beverages, cigarette smoking, and screen media use, said a study.

Sports and energy drink consumption should be addressed as part of a clustering of unhealthy behaviours among some adolescents, the researchers noted.

“Among boys, weekly sports drink consumption was significantly associated with higher TV viewing,” said Nicole Larson of University of Minnesota in the US.

“Raw coffee is, on average, just one percent caffeine but it contains seven to nine percent chlorogenic acid – a strong antioxidant that prevents retinal degeneration in mice,” said Chang Y Lee, a professor of food science at Cornell University here.

‘Lung disease linked to diabetes under-diagnosed in India’

An infectious lung disease – melioidosis – which is linked to diabetics is grossly under-diagnosed in India, according to a British expert.

The disease is caused by a bacterium called Burkholderia pseudomallei, commonly found in stagnant water, soil and paddy fields, said Clive Cockram, an endocrinologist.

He said about 50 percent cases of melioidosis occur in patients who have been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus.

Woman killed as train derails in Pakistan

One woman was killed and 20 people injured after a passenger train derailed in Pakistan Wednesday morning, media reports said.

TV channel Dunya said the train’s engine and three compartments derailed near Nawabshah district in Sindh province, Xinhua reported.

The train was on its way from Faisalabad to Karachi.

Hospital sources said they received 20 injured people and at least two of them are critical.IANS
