Karzai cries for son’s future

Kabul, September 28: Afghan President Hamid Karzai burst into tears today while delivering a speech on the problems facing his country, saying he feared the war might force his young son to leave his homeland.

“I don’t want my son Mirwais to become alienated, I don’t want that,” Karzai said while marking national literacy day.

“I want him to go to school here, I swear to God I’m worried, I’m worried, oh people, I’m worried. God forbid Mirwais should be forced to leave Afghanistan,” he said, referring to his three-year-old son, an only child.

Special Act to protect temple lands: Gade

Hyderabad, September 28: Endowment Minister Gade Venkata Reddy on Tuesday directed the officials to take steps to protect the endowment lands from encroachments.

Talking to reporters after emerging out of review meeting convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Rosaiah at the Secretariat, the Minister said that the Chief Minister has directed the officials to take steps to recover lands from encroachers.

Mr Venkata Reddy said that 417 acres of Simhachalam Nrusimha Swamy temple lands were encroached by illegal elements and a case was pending in this regard in the High Court.

LSP hails Centre’s moves on Panchayats

Hyderabad, September 28: The Lok Satta Party on Tuesday welcomed the Union Government’s decision to constitute a panchayat service cadre to ensure proper implementation of Union-Government sponsored schemes.

Talking to media persons, party leaders Bandaru Rammohan Rao and V Vijayender Reddy expressed happiness over 20 of the 23 districts of the State being chosen under the proposal.
They wanted the Government to constitute panchayat clusters so that all of them would be eligible for appointment of new personnel.

T Lawyers warn of restarting protests if cases not withdrawn

Hyderabad, September 28: Warning that the Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee would restart its agitations if the government does not stick to its promises and withdraw all the cases foisted against the Telangana protagonists, JAC convenor M Rajender Reddy on Tuesday stated that the lawyers would meet Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on Wednesday.

He demanded that the government lift all cases lodged against Telangana protagonists unconditionally.

Revision of electoral rolls scheduled

Hyderabad, September 28 (Siasat News): Election commission has decided to revise electoral list with reference to January 1st 2011. As per the schedule issued in this regard the exercise would begin with the publication of draft rolls on October 30 2010.

Complaints would be received during October 30 to November 23. Verification of the names in the voter list will be done during November 6 to 9. Meetings of the agents of political parties on booth level will be held on November 7, 14 and 21 to receive applications.

Hyderabad not included in Obama’s itinerary

Congress welcomes Supreme Court order on Ayodhya

New Delhi, September 28: The Congress Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court order dismissing a petition seeking postponement of the Allahabad High Court verdict on the Ayodhya row.

“I welcome the decision on behalf of the party. The party has always maintained that the solution to the dispute should be found through talks or the decision of the court should be respected. Everyone should wait for the judgement of the high court,” Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said.

Naidu meets muslims; gives cheques for uplift of mosques

ICICI employee kidnapped

Adilabad, September 28: An ICICI employee Swarnalatha was allegedly
kidnapped by some unidentified persons in Mandamarri area of this
district on Tuesday.

The victim’s husband has lodged a complaint with the police about the
kidnap. The police have registered a case and taken up investigation.

Couple tries to end life due to financial problems

Guntur, September 28: A man and his wife attempted to end their lives
due to financial problems in the Bhavana Rushinagar area of
Sattenapalli on Tuesday.

While the man died in the attempt, the condition of his wife is stated
to be serious.

SC Rejects Deferment of Ayodhya Verdict

New Delhi, September 28: The Supreme Court has rejected the plea for deferment of the verdict on Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit by the Allahabad High Court after the Attorney General said that uncertainty should not be allowed to continue.

AG G E Vahanvati, appearing before a three-judge special bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia, said the most preferred solution to the problem would be settlement but it has not taken place and the uncertainty which is prevailing should not be allowed to continue.

Butt to leave for London to sort out issues with ECB

Karachi, September 28: Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt will leave for London today in a bid to resolve the ongoing dispute with the ECB and to sort out the issues related to the spot-fixing scandal. Uncertainty on Ayodhya shouldn’t continue: Attorney General

New Delhi, September 28: The Supreme Court was set to decide on a petition to defer the Ayodhya verdict at 2 p.m. Tuesday even as the government said it did not want “any uncertainty to continue”.

CCTV footage shows Kasab attacking jail staff

Mumbai, September 28: Mumbai attacker Ajmal Amir Kasab had reportedly attacked a jail superintendent at the high-security Arthur Road jail on September 1, 2010.
The prosecution has submitted CCTV footage as evidence before the special court which shows Kasab attacking the jail superintendent.

The prosecution made the claim after Kasab’s lawyer demanded that they should be allowed to talk to him without the jail staff within hearing distance.

But the prosecution countered the argument saying Kasab was a dangerous man and the presence of jail staff near him was very important.
