Party can do no harm to Congress: Rosaiah

Nalgonda, December 04: Former chief minister K Rosaiah said the Congress would not lose anything even if former MP Jagan floated a new regional party.

Rosaiah, on his way to Srisailam, made a brief halt at Dindi mandal headquarters in Nalgonda district on Thursday.

Speaking to mediapersons who met him there, he said Jagan would have had a bright future had he stuck with the Congress.

Jagan owed his identity to his late father YS Rajasekhara Reddy, he added.

Vasant Kumar may take back resignation

Hyderabad, December 04: Andhra Pradesh minister V Vasant Kumar, who sent his resignation to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy allegedly dissatisfied over the tourism portfolio allocated to him, may take back his resignation.

Several Congress members of Legislative Assembly from his native West Godavari district met Vasant Kumar in Hyderabad on Friday and urged him to withdraw his resignation in the interest of people of the district and also the party.

Cong core group discusses Andhra situation

New Delhi, December 04: The Congress’ top leadership decided to rally firmly behind the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh as the party prepares to face the Telangana issue after an official committee submits its report on the statehood issue by this month-end.

Party leaders reckon the divisive issue of Telangana could come to the fore once again once the Justice Srikrishna Commission’s report on the issue is out before its deadline of December 31.

Several ministers eye KVP’s chambers

Hyderabad, December 03: Notwithstanding the turmoil over allotment of portfolios to some ministers in the new cabinet throughout the day, several ministers who were newly inducted into the Cabinet kept themselves busy hunting for their office space in the Secretariat.

Surprisingly, the chambers in the ‘D’ block which was occupied earlier by former government adviser and Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao was the most sought after office for many ministers, including agriculture minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.

SCR to run 12 specials

Hyderabad, December 03: To clear the extra rush of passengers, South Central Railway will run 12 special trains between Secunderabad-Narsapur from December 7, 2010 to January 14, 2011. Accordingly, Train No. 07117 Secunderabad-Narsapur will depart Secunderabad at 23.30 hrs on December 7, 14, 21, 28 and January 4 and 11, 2011 and arrive at Narsapur at 09 30 hrs the next day. Returning, Train No. 07118 Narsapur-Secunderabad will depart Narsapur at 21 00 hrs on December 10, 17, 24, 31 and January 7 and 14, 2011 and arrive at Sec’bad at 07 00 hrs next day.

KUDA officer in ACB net

Hyderabad, December 03: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught a government official with disproportionate assets worth more than Rs 75 lakh in Warangal today. The sleuths conducted searches on Advocate’s Colony residence of the planning officer of Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) in Warangal, E Ajit Reddy, today and unearthed assets worth Rs 75 lakh.

Simultaneous searches were conducted in his office, residences of his friends at Hanamkonda and also at his native place Andukunthanda village in Chityal mandal, Warangal district, an official release said.

YSR fan dies of shock

Vishakapatnam, December 03: An ardent fan of late CM YSR allegedly died of shock in Bayyavaram of Makavarapalem mandal in Visakhapatnam district on Monday afternoon.

Lingampalli Nookaraju, 55, a farmer, collapsed suddenly in his agriculture field when one of his friends informed him about the resignations of Jagan and his mother Vijayalakshmi from the Congress. By the time other ryots and farm workers rushed to his help, he breathed his last.

Doctors later confirmed that Nookaraju had died of cardiac arrest and sudden bout of anxiety.

Hyderabad, December 3: Taking advantage of the crisis generated after cabinet formation Jagan Mohan Reddy who resigned from Congress and Lok Sabha has decided to launch a new political party and has started holding consultations with the like-minded leaders of the three regions. He can announce the formation of new party anytime.

Congress high command appointed Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy as the chief minister, dropping off K Rosaiah to handle the deteriorating situation. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telangana issue are the biggest challenges for high command.

Maoists kill surrendered Naxal, TDP leader in AP

Hyderabad, December 02: Maoists shot dead a surrendered Naxal and a local TDP leader while abducting at least three others in separate incidents in Andhra Pradesh, police said today.

The banned CPI(Maoist) which is celebrating the anniversary of its People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) from December 2 to 8, carried out the killings and abductions to demonstrate the party’s influence, they said.

Andhra Pradesh ministers fumble while taking oath

Hyderabad, December 01: They fumbled many a time while taking oath of office and secrecy as ministers of Andhra Pradesh today with two of them referring to themselves as “Chief Minister”.

P Sudarshan Reddy inadvertently assumed the post of “Chief Minister” when taking oath of secrecy, while one of the senior-most members N Raghuveera Reddy swore by his parents, whom he equated with God.

Jagan aims Pulivendula; Reddy Vs Reddy in Kadapa

Kadapa, November 30: YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who resigned from Congress on Monday, Nov 29, is planning to contest in Pulivendula Legislative Assembly, which was represented by his mother.

Sources close to Jagan said that he will enter the Assembly elections from Pulivendula seat. They also added that his sister Sharmila will contest against his uncle Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former Chief Minister late YS Rajashekhara Reddy, in Kadapa Parliament seat, which was represented by Jagan.

Muslim ministers not likely to be more than one in the new cabinet

Hyderabad, November 29: Government of Andhra Pradesh is geared up to form new cabinet on Wednesday. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has finalized the list of cabinet members after consulting Congress high command which will be announced on Wednesday. It is said that it has been tried to give representation to all the districts of the state.

Jagan group and YSR loyalists have also been taken into consideration while finalizing the list of cabinet members.

10 Maoists surrender in AP

Hyderabad, November 28: Ten Maoists today surrendered before the police in Narsipatnam town of Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam district, police said.

“The group led by G Chinakka voluntarily surrendered before the Visakhapatnam District Police OSD (Operations) Trivikram Verma,” Narsipatnam DSP N Narasimha Kishore said.

“All the 10 rebels were facing charges of attacks on village sarpanchs and creating law and order problems during Maoists bandh call in the state,” he said.

Woman alleges rape by temple staff, two held

Anantapur, November 26: The clerk and two security guards of the famous the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple were suspended after being accused of raping a pilgrim at Kadiri in Anantapur district, late on Thursday night.

According to SDPO Subbarayudu, the three accused had taken their victim to Room No 29 where the clerk committed the offence on a 25-year-old pilgrim.

Mr Subbarayudu revealed that the victim, along with her husband Shiva Raj had visited the temple late to have darshan at around 8:30 PM on Thursday night. They are residents of Madakasira in Anantapur district.

Rosaiah’s 446 days as CM

Hyderabad, November 25: K Rosaiah concluded his 446 days’ journey as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on November 24. He served for the post of chief Minister for 14 months and 22 days. He is on the third position in the list of chief ministers serving the shortest term.

No clarity on funds sanctioned

Karimnagar, November 24: If the district administration, people and leaders in Adilabad are complaining that their district has not received a single penny from the government for the Pranahita river Pushkarams, the officials and leaders in Karimnagar district seem to have a communication gap regarding the amount of funds released.

While declaring the proposed celebrations as state festival, it was announced that Karimnagar district would get about `5.5 crore for conducting the festival.

VRO found with illegal assets worth Rs 1 crore

Hyderabad, November 24: In yet another big catch, a Village Revenue Officer (VRO) in Rangareddy district was found with disproportionate assets worth more than Rs 1 crore in searches conducted by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday.

ACB sleuths said the revenue official struck gold while serving in the Sherlingampally mandal, which witnessed a real estate boom in the past.

Striking ‘babus’ enjoy day off work

Hyderabad, November 24: Work in majority of government offices came to standstill following the strike called by the Joint Action Committee of employees, teachers and workers at Indira park on Tuesday. The Rangareddy district collectorate office which witnesses hectic activity around 1 p.m, wore a deserted look with just security guards standing at the main gate. They were seen sending away visitors who arrived there not aware of the strike. Many people who turned up from far-off places had to leave disappointed.

Heavy inflows threaten brimming tanks

Nellore, November 24: Rains had ceased but farmers are on tenterhooks with copious inflow into tanks which are already full to the brim continuing, threatening their safety.

The recent breach in the 125-year-old Penna anicut due to heavy inflow about 1.50 cusecs) amply reveals that the flow in the streams and rivers is yet to recede.

With the prospect of rains lashing the district till December looming large, farmers are worried about the safety of tanks that are already in precarious condition as any more inflow may pose a threat.
