Rain occurs in coastal AP

Isolated rain occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh while weather has been mainly dry over Telangana and Rayalaseema. A bulletin from Meteorological Centre here today said Avanigadda (Krishna District) received a rainfall of 2 CM and Rapalle, Guntur (Guntur district), Koderu (West Godavari District) recorded a rainfall of one cm each.

Forecast and Farmers’ weather bulletin valid until the morning of June 25, 2012 indicated isolated Rain or Thundershowers would occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

DIET-CET-2012 postponed to July 15

The government on Friday adjourned the Common Entrance Test for admission into two year Diploma in Education in District Institutes of Educational Training and Private Elementary Teacher Training Institutions (DIET-CET-
2012) to July 15.

In a statement released to media, DIET-CET-2012 convenor Surender Reddy stated that the DIET-CET has been postponed to July 15 as the teachers are busy with evaluation work of SSLC papers.

As per schedule, the DIET-CET -2012 has to be held on July 8.

VSP blast death toll rises to 17

The death toll in last week’s blast at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has gone up to 17, with one of the injured officials succumbing to burn injuries here on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Deputy Manager of VSP Ch Prabhakara Rao who succumbed to burn injuries on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital. Earlier, Assistant General Manager in steel melting shop MBRS Sharma died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital in Mumbai.

Congress HC will punish CM for by-polls debacle: Shankar Rao

NEW LIQUOR POLICY

As the current lease period in respect of liquor shops auctioned in the
year 2010 would expire on June 30, 2012. The state Government has formulated new Excise Policy in
relation to disposal of retail liquor shops during the Excise Year 2012-13.
According to the GO issued in this regard, the privilege of selling liquor through Retail Shops
shall be granted by collecting Fixed Licence Fee based on population (as per census) of the places

VIJAYA SAI PRAYS BALAJI TO MAKE JAGAN CM

Vijaya Sai Reddy, Vice Chairman and a close confident of the YSR Congress
chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, on Monday prayed Lord Venkateswara to make his boss Chief Minister
of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
Vijaya Sai, who had a darshan of the Lord, spoke to the media briefly. He said that he prayed
that he and his boss should be out of all the cases they were facing and that Jagan should become Chief
Minister of the State in 2014 with two-thirds majority. He said that he also prayed the God to make

SSLC exams from June 20

The Secondary School Leaving Certificate Board on Monday
announced the schedule for advanced supplementary examinations. As per the schedule,
the examinations would begin from June 20 and conclude on July 2.
Talking to media persons SSLC Board Director B Manmadha Reddy said that about
2.52 lakh students would appear for the advanced supplementary examinations at 1,119
centres across the State from morning 9 am to 12 noon. Compared to last year, he said
that the number of candidates attempting supplementary examinations has come down by
nearly one lakh.

Newly-elected legislators call on Jagan in jail

The newly-elected legislators of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Saturday called on party chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the Chanchalguda Central Jail here.

The legislators, who reached Hyderabad from various districts, drove to the jail and met Jagan, who is in judicial custody in an illegal assets case.

The legislators including B. Sreenivas Reddy, Gurunath Reddy, Shucharita, Chenna Keshava Reddy, Amarnath Reddy and others called on Jagan, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) May 27. They spent about half an-hour with him.

Blast in Vizag Steel Plant, 11 killed

At least 11 officials and workers were killed and many injured when an explosion took place in Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) here tonight. The explosion took place in the oxygen tank House in Blast Furnace- two of the VSP, sources said. There are fears that the number of casualties could rise. A spokesman of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), the corporate entity of the VSP, described the incident as unfortunate and said the exact reason for the accident was being ascertained.

Two dead as two groups hurl bombs

Two persons were killed in this district on Tuesday in a clash when two groups attacked each other with country bombs, in Lakshmipuram village under Vangara mandal.

The deceased were identified as P Sundar Rao and S Venkata Rao. Both died on the spot. 20 others were injured in the clash.
