Congress failed to fulfill promises, says Venkat Rao

Congress senior leader and MLC Paladugu Venkat Rao on Wednesday said that the Congress party suffered a major defeat in the recent by-elections as it has failed to fulfill the promises made to the people in its election manifesto.
Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party office, Venkat Rao said that the electorate rejected the Congress party in the elections as it failed to fulfill even 30 percent of promises made to the people. At least now the government should take steps for fulfilling the promises made to the people, he said.
Venkat Rao said that the government has to complete all pending irrigation projects on war footing basis. He said that the government has to appoint party seniors to monitor the implementation of all works. If the government fails to fulfill the promises, he said that it would send wrong message among the people.
Apart from this, he said that the government and party have to rectify its mistakes to win back the confidence of people. He said that the party has to take up a thorough and serious discussion on the recent drubbing in the by-elections to find out exact reasons so that they could be rectified. (INN)
