That’s the conclusion of a new study by the Japanese Health, Labour and Welfare Ministry, which found that people who are overweight at the age of 40 live longer on average than people with other physiques.

Recipe: Cheese Pudding

Ingredients:

• 1 cup Cottage Cheese (grated)
• ½ cup Powdered Sugar
• ½ cup Pistachios (chopped)
• 4 tbsps Cornflour
• 2 cups Water
• 3-5 drops Vanilla Essence

Procedure:

• Dissolve sugar in water to make syrup.
• Add cottage cheese (paneer) to the syrup, stirring continuosly for a few minutes.
• Now add corn flour and cook the mixture till it becomes thick.
• Add vanilla essence to it.

T-shirt gets man in trouble

Dubai, June 20: A Lebanese man is facing 30 days in jail in Dubai for wearing a cancer awareness T-shirt featuring an image of a partially clothed Victoria Beckham.

The man, identified only as RN because of Dubai’s secretive court system, lost an appeal against the conviction for offending public decency.

RN, 28, was wearing the T-Shirt with the slogan “Protect the skin you’re in” last November when he was confronted by another Arab man, who complained to the police.

Men trying to help turtle cross road hit by car

Harrison Township, June 20: Police say two men were seriously injured when they were hit by a car as they tried to help a turtle crossing a road.

Macomb County sheriff’s deputies found a truck stopped on the Harrison Township road early Friday and discovered the injured men nearby.

Derek James Redmond of Mount Clemens was arraigned on charges that include drunken driving. A preliminary hearing is set for July 1.

Redmond didn’t have an attorney on record with the court.

Girls pay with their knickers for ride in RAF jets

London, June 20: Pilots of the Royal Air Force have come up with a novel way of making their female passengers pay for their ride in a jet by asking for their knickers in return as fare.

The panties, which are framed, can be seen adorning a whole wall of the Tornado pilots’ bar, with some even hanging from the ceiling. Fast jet crews started the tradition at Mount Pleasant airfield in the Falklands, but pilots of helicopters and rescue planes charged a bra for a joyride.

Fruit and Jelly Trifle

Ingredients :
100 gms orange jelly
200 gms fresh cream
½ slice any sponge cake
450 gms fruit cocktail
3 tbsp powdered sugar
2 tsp orange squash
½ tsp lemon juice
a few drops orange essence
a few drops orange colouring

For garnishing :
Orange wafers

Method :
Melt the jelly in 2½ teacups of boiling water.
Cool and add the orange squash.
Pour a little jelly in a 175 mm (7″) diameter sandwich cake tin and put to set in the refrigerator.
Drain the fruit and keep aside the syrup.
Beat the cream with the sugar until it becomes thick.

Almond Kulfi

Ingredients :

14 oz condensed milk
24 oz ecaporated milk
8 oz cool whip whipping cream
1 cup peeled almonds
pinch of saffron
¼ tsp powdered cardamom
½ cup pista chopped

Method :

Grind almond with 14 oz evaporated milk
Mix all above ingredients except pista in a big bowl, beat it for 2 to 5 minutes, so the kulfi comes very soft.
Pour the mixture in a big square dish
Sprinkle the chopped almonds over it and freeze for 8 to 10 hrs.
Cut it and ready to serve.

NSA analysts spied on own wives and girlfriends

Washington, June 19: According to the reporter who first broke the NSA wiretapping story, there is no proof the agency has scaled back its interception of the personal phone calls and email messages of American citizens as promised by the Obama administration or even that it is being straight with Congress about its activities.

James Risen and Eric Lichtblau revealed the NSA’s over-collection of data in an article for the New York Times on Tuesday, noting that one NSA analyst was even found to have been reading the private email of former President Bill Clinton.

Woman’s smile bigger turn on for men

London, June 19: Men think women are hotter when they smile than wear make-up, a new UK study has found. The research, carried out by Orbit Complete for National Smile Month, found that nearly 70 percent of blokes find women more attractive when they smile.

To reach the conclusion, the study tested photographic case studies of women on over 1,000 people across the UK.

According to the survey, more than 60 per cent of men considered women who didn’t smile to be moody and two thirds of other women thought they appeared disinterested, reports The Sun.

Rare turtle travels 7,000 km to breed!

Toronto, June 19: How could a contemporary of the great dinosaurs survive to this day?

A rare leatherback turtle, which has existed since the time of the dinosaurs, has been found to be adept at making the longest ocean journey to breed in warmer places.

Fitted with a satellite transmitter by Canadian scientists to track its journey, the turtle – which is the also world’s largest turtle growing up to two metres long and weighing up to 500 kilogramme – travelled over 7,000 km to be found on the coast of Colombia in South America.

Jobless man steals just for free prison lunch

Taipei, June 18: A jobless Taiwan man released from prison stole a box of cotton swabs just to get arrested again because he “could not forget the police department boxed lunches,” officers and local media said Tuesday.

The homeless man in Taipei first stole a pair of shoes on Sunday, was detained and released, the Liberty Times said. He then resorted to stealing again the next day just to get back inside and be fed for free.

Brazilian President appears in Playboy

London, June 18: Brazil’s playboy magazine is set to hit the market shelves with a photograph featuring President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The 63-year-old appear fully clothed in a photograph reproduced alongside the magazine’s nude centrefold, a Rio de Janeiro dancer and model who looks as if she is about to plant a kiss on the head of state’s image.

And surprisingly the Brazilian premier isn’t aware of his photo being used.

“Nobody knew they were going to use a photo of the president in this shoot. It was a surprise,” the Telegraph quoted spokesman for the president said.

SWEET AND SOUR FISH RECIPE

Ingredients:

15 pieces boneless Fish
21/2 tbsp Corn Flour / Corn Starch
11/2 tbsp Soya Sauce
11/2 tbsp Vinegar
3/4 cup Chicken Stock
3tbsp Spring Onions (chopped)
2 tbsp Tomato Sauce
1 tsp Ginger Paste
Salt to taste
Pepper Powder to taste
11/2 tbsp Sugar
A pinch ajinomoto
Oil to fry
2 tbsp oil

Preparation of sweet sour fish :

Take 1tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp corn flour, salt & pepper in a bowl and form a mixture.
Cover fish pieces with the above mixture evenly.
Heat oil in a wok / kadhai and deep fry the fish pieces till golden brown.

CHINESE CHILI CHICKEN RECIPE

Ingredients for chinese chilli chicken:

500 -600 gms Boneless Chicken
2 tbsp Soya Sauce
1 Egg
2 tbsp Corn Flour/Corn Starch
5-6 Chopped Green Chilies
2 Green Onion Chopped
1 tsp Garlic Paste
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp White Pepper Powder
1 tsp Sugar
A pinch of ajinomoto
2 cups chicken Broth/ Water
1 tbsp Oil
Oil to fry

Preparation:

Cut the boneless chicken pieces into1 ” cubes.
Take 1tbsp. Soya sauce, 1tbsp. corn flour, salt, egg in a bowl and marinate chicken pieces in the the mixture for about 10-15 minutes.

Chicken Manchurian

Ingredients:
Chicken thighs 4 no.(skinned and cut into cubes of size 1/2″ each.)
8 pods Garlic chopped fine.
1 small Onion chopped fine
1 tsp Soya sauce or as required
1 tsp Tomato ketchup or as required
1/4 tsp Chilli Pwd (optional)
8 no. Green Chillies chopped fine
4 tsp Refined Oil
1/4 cup all purpose flour/Maida
2 tbsp Cornflour
Salt to taste

Method:

Rub salt and marinate chicken for an hour.
Make a batter of maida and cornflour and soak the chicken pieces into it. Deep fry the chicken pieces and keep aside.

Recipe: Masala Buttermilk

Beat the scorching summer heat by trying out this cool invigorating drink.

Ingredients:

• 2 cups plain yoghurt
• 3 cups chilled water
• 1 tsp. coriander leaves finely chopped
• 1 stalk curry leaves
• 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
• 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
• 1 tsp ginger grated
• 1 green chilli
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp oil
Procedure:

• Beat curds with whipper till smooth.
• Add water, churn well.
• Squeeze ginger juice in buttermilk.
• Add salt. Break chilli into two halves.
• Heat a small pan, add oil.

Man ‘relaxing’ on mattress in rescued

Erie, June 18: A man floating on an air mattress in a Lake Erie bay had to be rescued by the Coast Guard and was taken into custody by Erie, Pa, police.

Police said two boaters called 911 after a fisherman told them his friend was in the water. The Coast Guard crew pulled the man from Presque Isle Bay about 60 yards from shore at about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday.

1 kg wheat flour, salt to taste, 12 gm oil, 50 gm desi ghee.

For the filling: 100 gm chicken mince, 30 gm methi, 4 gm garlic (chopped), 25 gm khoya (grated), 20 gm oil, 1 gm chilli powder, 2 gm cumin seeds, 4 gm ginger (chopped), 4 gm chillies (chopped), a pinch of garam masala, 10 gm coriander (chopped), 1 lemon wedge.

Bangalore, June 17: It’s been almost eight years since Prasad migrated from Suganahalli, a small village in north Karnataka, to earn his livelihood in India’s tech hub. After failing to land a job, he took to begging and is ‘happy’ earning around Rs.40 a day now.

‘I didn’t come to Bangalore to be a beggar. After failure to get any job, I decided to beg. I manage to earn Rs.30-40 a day and am happy,’ Prasad, 40, told IANS near Cubbon Road in the heart of the city’s central business district.
