A forum of men’s rights organisations Saturday urged all political parties to include in their manifestos the formation of a “men’s ministry” and a “men’s rights” panel to address issues concerning Indian males.

The National Coalition for Men (NCM) – a forum of 50 organisations fighting for male rights across the country – launched its own manifesto here expressing concern over the steady rate of “innocent men” falling victims to “gender biased” laws.

Titled “Men-ifesto”, it carries a host of issues concerning males and the need for governmental provisions to address those issues.

In a bizarre incident, a Kenyan man woke up in the mortuary after being confirmed dead for 15-20 hours.

A 24-year-old suicide victim, who had been pronounced dead after he drank insecticide following an argument with his father, left hospital staff in shock after he woke up inside one of the mortuary chambers where he was due to be embalmed, the Mirror reported.

Naivasha District Hospital workers said that Paul Mutora, from Limuru, had been confirmed dead for approximately 20 hours when he woke up and started calling out for help. (ANI)

Lung cancer rates decline for U.S. men, women: Study

The percentage of U.S. adults developing lung cancer is falling, with the sharpest declines among those aged 35 to 44, according to U.S. data released on Thursday, fifty years after the surgeon general’s first-ever report warning of the dangers of smoking.

The lung cancer rate dropped by 2.6 percent per year among men and 1.1 percent per year among women, between 2005 and 2009, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found, using the most recent available data.

‘Clueless’ man gets bottle stuck up his bottom

In a bizarre incident, an unsuspecting Chinese man found a bottle stuck up his bottom, which also pierced his bowel.

The man, who went to the hospital complaining of stomach pains, was unaware about what was causing his discomfort until doctors showed him X-rays of his stomach, Metro.co.uk reported.

Hhe later admitted to inserting the bottle at home and also using a steel wire to get it back out, but was forced to seek medical help after failing to extract the bottle. (ANI)

Tobacco control measures that began in the US 50 years ago have resulted in saving an estimated eight million premature smoking-attributable deaths, said a new study.

Researchers estimate that tobacco control also resulted in the beneficiaries of these avoided early deaths having gained, on average, nearly two decades of life, said the study published in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA).
