UP mosques double up as primary schools

Amid the mushrooming convent schools, mosques still continue to be popular centres of learning at least up to the primary class level in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district. The trend is more common in cities and towns where Islamic primary schools are rare.

There are more than 100 mosques in Azamgarh city and around 40 percent offer primary education. A majority of students in mosques come from the Muslim community but there are no restrictions on non-Muslim students taking admission.

Every year in the month of Ramadan, all Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, abstaining from food and drink. Allah has enjoined fasting upon Muslims in the month of Ramadan. Love for your brother what you love for yourself

Narrated Anas Ibn Malik Radia Allahu Anhu, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “None of you will have faith (Iman) till he wishes for his brother what he likes for himself.” (Bukhari)
This Hadith, amongst many other important Ahadith, has been given great importance by scholars by considering it as a milestone of morality. The Hadith highly emphasizes on the teachings of Islam – love for others what you love for yourself. Even Allah says, “The believers are nothing else than brothers.” (Qur’an, 49:10)

Prophet Muhammad: A Model of Change

It is agreed upon, even by non-Muslims, that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be on him) is the most influential person throughout history. He was raised in a community that worshipped several idols, but he never followed the footsteps of his people. From his early childhood, he resorted to meditation inside a cave called Hira’. At the age of 40, he received a Revelation from Allah, which marked the first and most revolutionary change in his life.

War by other means

THE design of the array of political, social and religious outfits in the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS)-led Sangh Parivar is such that they can jointly and severally advance their collective ideological and organisational objectives using diverse tactics and stratagems. The beauty of Hijab: Saudi Gazette

A rose protects its beauty with thorns; a Muslimah protects her beauty with her Hijab! Women in Islam are just like pearls in a shell, priceless treasures, and most beautiful treasures on the Earth are hidden. So, it is important for a Muslim women to cover her body by taking Hijab because they are also considered as beautiful treasures in Islam.

Moreover, wearing Hijab is adherence to the Qur’an and Sunnah, which makes it obvious that it is a religious duty. We have numerous proofs in both, the Qur’an and the Sunnah that clearly explain the significance of Hijab.

In Islam widowhood is neither a blot nor ill-omened

One of the rituals and superstitions linked with Nikah is the ritual of ‘manjha’ ceremony. This custom has permeated into Muslim society from the strangers and has nothing to do with Islam. Apparently we feel that there is no un-Islamic affair in the manjha function hence there is no harm in doing this ritual. But infact the community from which we have adopted this ritual has a specific purpose for performing that ritual and their superstitions have central place in it.

Regarding bangles and kalipot (black beads) the sign of marriage hood is impious

It is an undeniable fact that in every part of the world the regional customs and traditions have overshadowed the Nikah and Valima ceremonies. But it is more so for the Indian subcontinent. There are so many unislamic customs linked with the Nikah function. People do not hesitate to use the word marriage and wedding instead of Nikah, the Islamic terminology and with that it is thought that since the marriage is an occasion of happiness hence there is nothing wrong in singing and dancing, firing crackers and doing all sorts of enjoyment to celebrate the occasion.

Truth, Disbelief and Renewal of Faith

From time to time, the levels of our faith do tend to dwindle. This weakness of faith manifests itself in degraded quality of acts of our worship, negligence in remembering Allah, feeling indifferent to His commands and, in general, us having a doubtful heart. Experiencing any of these symptoms or others akin to them is an indication of a weakness of faith that in turn may be depriving us of peace, tranquility, and closeness to our creator and sustainer.
