“It was great to be directed by Anurag. Most of my scenes are with Ranbir (Kapoor). So, officially he is my favourite co-star and my favourite director is Anurag Kashyap. I don’t have any other choice actually,” the 41-year-old said here Wednesday at a party thrown by the producers to announce the release date of the film.

Kabir Suman dedicates National Award to people of Bengal

Euphoric after receiving the National Award for scoring the music of Bengali film “Jaatishwar”, music composer Kabir Suman Wednesday dedicated the honour to the people of West Bengal.

The Srijit Mukherji directed film with Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead, won four awards including best makeup, best music, best singer and best costume designer.

“I feel euphoric receiving the award. The award belongs to the people of Bengal,” Suman told the media here.

Playback singers Rupankar, Bela Shende win National Award

Rupankar and Bela Shende have been adjudged the best male and female playback singer, respectively, for the 61st National Film Awards announced here Wednesday.

Rupankar’s rendition of “E tumi kemom tumi” for Bengali film “Jaatishwar” and Shende’s song “Khura khura” from the Marathi movie “Tuhya Dharma Koncha” have been lauded by the jury.

In the best music direction category, Kabir Suman has won for the songs in “Jaatishwar”, and Shantanu Moitra’s work in Telugu film “Na Bangaaru Talli” has been adjudged the best as far as the background score is concerned.

Filmmaker Ram is extremely delighted that his Tamil film “Thanga Meengal” bagged three awards at the 61st National awards Wednesday.

“Thanga Meengal” is a heartwarming story about the relationship between a father and his daughter, with special focus on primary school education. It was adjudged the best Tamil film, besides winning best lyrics for Na. Muthu Kumar for the song “Ananda Yaazhai”.

“I’m overwhelmed that my film bagged three awards. I would like to thank my producer for believing in me and my story,” Ram told IANS.

My heartbeat slowed down: Rajkummar on winning National Award

Rajkummar Rao’s phone hasn’t stopped ringing ever since it was announced Wednesday evening that he has been named for the National Film Award for the best actor for “Shahid”. He says “it’s the most important day” of his life.

“It feels great! It is the most important day of my life. I was not expecting this at all, but when I got to know about it, my heartbeat slowed down,” Rajkummar told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

Suraj dedicates National Award to Malayalam cinema

Suraj Venjaramoodu Wednesday said that he dedicates his National Award to the Malayalam language and Malayalam cinema.

Suraj has been named the best actor for his performance in “Perariyathavar”, directed by Biju, at the 61st National Film Award announced in the national capital.

“I did it in my style and I dedicate the award to Malayalam language and Malayalam cinema,” he said while interacting with media after the announcement. The 37-year-old shares the award with Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao.
