Rekha attends Rajya Sabha

Actor-turned MP Rekha was seen in Rajya Sabha for brief period on Wednesday, attending the house for the first time in the current budget session.

Clad in a light cream-coloured saree, she was seen in Rajya Sabha for 10 minutes during the zero hour.

Sitting at her designated seat with other nominated members, she was also seen talking to Anu Aga, N.K. Ganguly and H.K. Dua.

She had attended the winter session once and the budget session last year once.

‘Udta Punjab’ about drug scenario in the state: Vikramaditya Motwane

“Udta Punjab”, the upcoming project from Phantom Films, will focus on the drug problem in the state through four different stories.

Directed by Abhishek Chaubey of “Dedh Ishqiya” fame, the film is currently in its shooting stage with Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles. “‘Udta Punjab’ is a story of four different people merged together. There are four different stories and four different perspectives. It is set in Punjab and talks about the drug scenario. It is the first Hindi film to deal with the issue,” producer Vikramaditya Motwane said.

Speaking to media persons at a recent event, Sawant openly confessed her love for Kohli and said, “I like Virat a lot and Anushka hasn’t confessed publicly as yet. But I am confessing my love for the young cricketer as I love him and since Anushka has not accepted his love openly, therefore, she would like to express her love for the cricketer.”

Sawant confessed her love for Kohli at a spa launch in Mumbai.

Murugadoss’s next with Sonakshi Sinha titled ‘Akira’

Actress Sonakshi Sinha on Wednesday revealed that the title of her new movie with filmmaker A.R. Murugadoss is “Akira”. The project is currently on floors here.

“Akira” is the Hindi remake of Tamil hit “Mounaguru”.

“Say hello to #AKIRA. My new name and new film. @ARMurugadoss @foxstarhindi,” Sonakshi posted on her Twitter page.

Being produced by Fox Star Studios, “Akira” is said to also feature veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha in an important role.

“Akira” marks Murugadoss’s third Hindi venture after back-to-back hits “Ghajini” and “Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty”.

The Telangana Movie Chamber of Commerce has elected popular Telugu producer Dil Raju as its first president, assuring to strive for the upliftment of Telangana film industry in the coming years.

“We’ve unanimously elected Dil Raju as our president. As a governing body, we will provide complete support to filmmakers who plan to shoot across Telangana regions. We will also take necessary steps to work towards the development of our film industry,” read a statement.

Shashi Kapoor turns 77; Shabana, Rishi wish him good health

Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, best known for his performances in films like “Jab Jab Phool Khile”, “Deewar” and “Kabhi Kabhie”, turned 77 today.

His nephew Rishi Kapoor and “Fakira” co-star Shabana Azmi wished the actor health and happiness on his birthday.

Rishi took to twitter and posted a rare photo of the handsome actor along with his wishes.

“Happy Birthday Shashi uncle God Bless good health and all happiness,” tweeted Rishi, who worked with his uncle in many films including “Apna Khoon”, “Kabhi Kabhie” and “Duniya Meri Jeb Mein”.

Actor Ajith Kumar undergoes minor surgery

Popular Tamil star Ajith Kumar underwent septoplasty and functional endoscopic sinus surgery on Tuesday at a private hospital here.

In a statement, his publicist said the surgery was performed by an ENT specialist on Tuesday morning, and that Ajith is recovering well.

Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct a deviated nasal septum wherein one’s nasal septum is straightened and repositioned in the middle of the nose. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) is a surgical treatment of sinusitis and nasal polyps, including bacterial, fungal, recurrent acute, and chronic sinus.

Telugu actor Allu Arjun will be making his Hindi debut in upcoming dance film “AnyBody Can Dance 2”. A proficient dancer, Arjun will be seen in a cameo appearance showcasing his dancing prowess.

“Arjun will be playing Aryan Chauhan. It’s a guest role where he’ll showcase his dance moves. It was at the behest of choreographer-director Prabhudeva that he agreed to be part of the film. He has already shot his portion,” a source close to the actor told IANS.

“I always feel a sequel should be a continuation of the previous one. ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ will continue from where the first film ended. Many sequels are being made in Bollywood, but either the actors are replaced or the story is completely changed. So, here’s a sequel in the true sense,” Lulla said.

Bollywood’s top filmmakers meet I-B Minister to improve film certification process

Top Bollywood producers, including veteran Ramesh Sippy, Gulzar and Mukesh Bhatt, met Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to improve the process of movie certification in wake of recent controversies.

The Hindi film industry was reportedly up in arms after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Pahlaj Nihalani made 23 Hindi and English ‘objectionable’ words off-limits for filmmakers.

Rathore said the meeting was not about an individual but to ensure that filmmaking was made easier for the industry.

Hrithik and I want to work for the longest time: Bhardwaj

Vishal Bhardwaj says he and Hrithik Roshan have been planning to work together for a long time but things did not work out in the past.

There is a strong buzz that the director and Hrithik are collaborating on a project to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Top Bollywood producers are likely to meet Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore today.

According to sources, the Bollywood producers are expected to demand to removal of Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani.

Censor Board member Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi had reportedly criticised the CBFC chief over the edits of Bollywood flick ‘NH10’.

Dwiveid has reportedly objected to the removing of cuss words from the movie.

Navina Bole to do cameo in ‘Uff ! Yeh Nadaniyaan’

Actress Navina Bole who was seen in the college romance “Miley Jab Hum Tum” has been roped in for a cameo in a special episode of TV show “Uff! Yeh Nadaniyaan”.

The special episode is for Navratri, and will be aired on Friday.

“Navratri is the most celebrated Hindu festival, and being a part of this special (episode) is indeed great. Though I am playing a negative character, my fans will see highlights of chatpata (spicy) comedy in my role,” Navina said in a statement

Vishakha Singh wants ‘reasonable amount’ to act

Actress Vishakha Singh, who was noticed for her role in the hit film “Fukrey”, rues how new artistes in the film industry are sometimes expected to work for free. She says her demand is just a “reasonable amount”.

She claims she has been offered many movies since “Fukrey”, but she didn’t take them as they were not exciting enough.

“After ‘Fukrey’, I got offers for about 40-50 films, but sometimes the story didn’t excite me, sometimes the director’s vision didn’t match, sometimes the roles didn’t excite me,” the 28-year-old said here in an interview.

‘Hunterrr’ team insists the film is not a sex comedy but coming-of-age story of a boy

Director Hashvardhan Kulkarni says he has a problem with the labelling of the upcoming movie as a sex-comedy as he feels in India the genre is looked down upon as something “crass” and “vulgar”.

“It is not a sex comedy… actually the problem is the term sex comedy is associated here with a lot of films which this movie is not like. The flavour of the film is very different. Sex comedy is associated with being crass and vulgarity. ‘Hunterrr’ is not like that. It is a coming-of-age comedy,” Kulkarni said.

TV actress Riddhi Dogra, the latest contestant to be ousted from Khatron Ke Khiladi 6, says host Rohit Shetty’s image of a tough task master will change with this season. Actress Radhika Apte, who will be seen in “Hunterrr”, says sex is a saleable subject in films, because society considerss it a taboo.

The actress, whose forthcoming film is about a sex addict, told IANS: “It (sex) is salable and it’s a taboo also, so it has an odd place in our county. I think sex is saleable because there is a taboo.”

As far as “Hunterrr” is concerned, she says that while the posters and trailer of the film, may suggest that it is a sex comedy, but it’s otherwise.
