AIEEE question papers leaked in UP, test postponed

New Delhi, May 01: Question papers of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) were leaked in Uttar Pradesh today forcing the CBSE to postpone the test by a few hours.

Immediately after the question papers were leaked, the CBSE postponed the two exams which were scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM today, a senior HRD ministry official said here.

“The exams for the 1st paper which was scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM will now begin at 12:00 PM. The second paper which was to begin at 02:00 PM will now start at 7:00 PM,” the official said.

Sabahat Bader is state topper in inter BiPC

Nizamabad, April 30: Sabahat Bader of Kakatya Junior college, Nizamabad has got first rank in inter II year BiPC group. With hard work and zeal she is able to get 991 marks out of 1000 which comes to 99.1 percent.

Talking to Siasat news Sabahat’s father Mr. Bader Uddin, lecturer Govt. Junior college for boys Nizamabad told that his brilliant daughter commenced her primary education from Urdu High school Nizamabad. The girl who studied 1st to 10th class from Urdu medium got 542 marks in 10th class and later she switched to English medium for higher education.

CTET entrance test for teachers

Hyderabad, April 30: The Central Teacher Eligibility Test CTET for the candidates pursuing for B.Ed and D.Ed will be conducted on June 26.

The exam paper will be in English and Hindi. The language papers also include Urdu/Telugu. Forms can be obtained till May 10.

Guidance and information can be obtained from Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall, Siasat premises, Abids between 9 to 1 pm.

AMU shut down indefinitely after violence

Aligarh, April 30: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been adjourned sine die after violence erupted in the campus on Friday night as students of two rival groups clashed with each other.

Reports said the two warring groups of students opened fire with about 100 rounds fired in all. They pelted stones at each other and ransacked university property. At least 12 students were injured in the clashes.

Anil Kumar, District Magistrate of Aligarh, has confirmed the firing in the campus.

Govt laying maximum priority to vocational training

New Delhi, April 29: The government is laying “maximum importance” to vocational training with an aim to create a world-class skilled labour force, Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said today.

He also said while a number of amendments have recently been carried out in the central labour laws in the recent past, bills to amend some other laws have been introduced in Parliament.

UID links MGNREGA, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in MP

Bhopal, April 29: Madhya Pradesh is the only State in the country, which has linked MGNREGA, Treasury, Food Coupon, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and the like with Unique Identity Number (UID) card. Over four lakh registrations have been made in the State and 1.61 lakh cards have been distributed.

1,846 Write CET in Uttara Kannada District

Karwar, April 28: As many as 1,846 candidates appeared for the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the PU Board on Wednesday in Uttara Kannada district. CET was conducted in three centres at Government PU College, Karwar, MES College, Sirsi and Government PU College, Kumta according to sources in the office of the Deputy Director, PU Education. The tests were conducted in mathematics and biology on Wednesday. On Thursday physics and chemistry tests will be held.

EAMCET 2011 on May 22

Hyderabad, April 27: EAMCET 2011 entrance exam for admissions into Engineering, Medicine and Agricultural courses will be held on May 22, 2011. Issue of exam hall tickets have been started from the day before i:e April 25 and will be continued till May 2. The exam hall tickets can be collected by candidates from respective regional centres, by showing their acknowledgment cards. The candidates, who do not collect their hall tickets in person, would be sent the same by post after May 2.

Software developed to monitor teacher’s vacancies in India

New Delhi, April 25 (IANS) New software has been developed to monitor teacher deployment as the Right To Education Act is implemented across the country, a human resource development ministry official said Monday.

The software, which will use data from district information system for education and generate lists on teacher requirements developed by the ministry, was discussed in a meeting on the RTE Act chaired by Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal.

Schools to be equipped with computer labs: Minister

Churu (Raj), April 24: The Rajasthan government is working to ensure that every state-run school is equipped with a computer lab and has set a target of three years to achieve this goal, Education Minister Bhanwar Lal Meghwal said today.

Infrastructure was also accorded a top priority and the government was trying to ensure that there was no shortage of buildings, furniture and other resources in the schools, he said.

Haryana asks job seekers to register online

Chandigarh, April 23: The department of employment in Haryana has asked job seekers, who are already registered with the state’s employment exchanges, to register online again.

A department spokesman said: “It would be presumed that the applicants, who have not registered online, are no longer in need of employment assistance through the employment exchanges and their names would be permanently deleted from the exchange registers,” he said.

According to him, the department of employment has computerised all its activities from Sep 1, 2010.

BUMCET 2011: coaching classes to begin from May 2

Model test for entrance exams on Sunday

Hyderabad, April 23: A model test is being conducted by Siasat daily on Sunday, April 24, at 11 am at Mahboob Husain Jigar Career Guidance centre, Siasat premises opposite Ramskrishna theatre Abids.

CEEP polytechnic entrance for SSC passed candidates, D.Ed entrance DIETCET for teacher training for intermediate passed candidates and B.Ed entrance Ed.CET are scheduled on April 30, May 29 and June 4 respectively.

Bihar, Jharkhand to get IGNOU regional centres

New Delhi, April 22: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will soon establish regional centres in Bihar and Jharkhand to promote open and distance learning among the people in eastern parts of the country.

The regional centres will come up in Saharsa in Bihar and Deoghar in Jharkhand, according to a IGNOU statement.

“The regional centres are responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of study centres, student support services and organisation of staff development programmes in the region,” the statement said.

New Delhi, April 22: An expert panel has pointed to “serious problems” in Indian higher education that must be overcome for India to emerge as “a global leader in science and technology” and provider of “trained manpower for the entire world.

“This could be a worthwhile national objective,” according to a checklist of Essential Steps for Progress in Higher Education given by Prof C N R Rao, Chairman of a Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister on Thursday.

Last date for Ed.CET 2011

Hyderabad, April 22: Ed.CET entrance exam for admissions into B.Ed course is scheduled on June 4. The last date for submission of forms is April 23.

Degree passed candidates are eligible to apply for the entrance exam. Forms are to be submitted to the Convenor Ed.CET Osmania University.

The coaching and guidance for the entrance exam is available at Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall, Siasat premises Abids in morning hours. Forms can be obtained from post office and e-seva centres.

Engineering student brutally assaulted by seniors

Bareilly, April 22: A first year engineering student was hospitalised after a brutal assault by four seniors as part of ragging at a government-run university campus here, police said Friday.

Jagjeevan, studying in B.Tech first year of mechanical engineering at the M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, was Thursday beaten by a group of four senior students of B. Tech third year of the same stream.

Education system administration needs overhauling: Report

New Delhi, April 22: Expressing concern at the deteriorating education system in the country, the Scientific Advisory Council (SAC) has suggested to the Prime Minister a slew of measures, including doing away with bureaucrats heading educational and technical institutions in the country to improve the situation.

Prof CNR Rao, chairman of the SAC made a presentation before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday on how the higher education system in the country was on the verge of destruction if adequate and timely steps were not taken.

2nd counseling for MD/MS postponed

Hyderabad, April 21: The 2nd counseling for admission into MD/MS by NIMSCET 2011 scheduled to be held on April 21 has been postponed to April 30.

PGIMER performs its first liver transplant surgery

Chandigarh, April 21:The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here, one of the leading medical institutes of northern India, successfully performed its first liver transplant surgery, officials said here Wednesday.

“The first liver transplant was done April 15 and the patient has been kept under close observation. He is fine and the surgery was successful,” the official spokesperson of PGIMER said.

The PGIMER was granted conduct of liver transplant surgeries in December 2009.

UoH students bag offers worth Rs 11 lakh
