Gandhi killers pass Plus 2 exams

Even as they face the gallows, two convicts in former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination case have come out with flying colours uin the Plus 2 examinations in Tamil Nadu.

According to officials, Murugan alian Sriharan and A.G. Perarivalan alias Arivu had scored high marks.

Murugan got 200/200 in Commerce and an overall 80 percentage (983/1,200 marks) while Perarivalan scored 91 percent (1,096/1,200 marks).

The two wrote the exams as private candidates at the Vellore jail.

CBSE Class 10 Results on May 24

The class X results of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be declared on May 24.

The results will be declared at 4 pm on May 24, said a statement issued by CBSE on Tuesday.

It said the results will be available on the website www.Results.Nic.In, www.Cbseresults.Nic.In, and www.Cbse.Nic.In.

Students can also get their results on their e-mail address by registering themselves on these websites.

Besides, they can also get the results dialing 011-24357276 or 011 -28127030.

All set for Army recruitment rally

Viqarabad is all set to conduct army recruitment rally to be held from May 29 to June 3. Rangareddy District Collector V. Sheshadri told this at a press conference here on Monday.

The collector told that an army recruitment drive is being conducted to fill up 500 posts at Sri Ananthapadmanabha Arts, Science and Commerce College in Viqarabad from May 29 to June 3.

The drive is being conducted to enroll eligible candidates from 10 districts of Telangana region.

New memory chip hundred times faster: Study

A new kind of memory chip made from silicon could be a hundred times faster than standard Flash memory chips, British scientists say.

Researchers at the University College London reported in the Journal of Applied Physics that they have developed a new kind of Resistive RAM (ReRAM) memory chip.

The chip is based on materials whose electrical resistance changes when a voltage is applied, and they “remember” this change even when the power is turned off.

Kerala school girl secures 99 percent in ISC

Kalyani Vishnu, a Class 12 student from here, was Saturday declared the top scorer in the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination, which she passed with 99 percent marks.

“I owe this to my wonderful teachers at the Christnagar School where I studied and also to my parents and, above all, to God Almighty,” Kalyani told IANS.

She said she did not go for any private tuition and instead depended on her teachers who taught her at school.

Girls outclass boys in ICSE, ISC examinations

Girls outclassed boys once again, grabbing both higher pass percentages as well as top marks in the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) for Classes 10 and 12, the results of which were declared Saturday.

According to a CICSE statement, the girls, with a pass percentage of 99.15 and 98.35 percent in Classes 10 and 12 respectively, beat the boys in both categories. The pass percentages for the boys were marginally lower at 98.19 and 96.36 percent respectively.

In another big score, 27 of the 30 students from Bihar’s Super 30, a free coaching centre for underprivileged students, have cracked the highly competitive Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) this year, its director said Friday.

“It is again good news that this year, 27 out of the 30 students made it to the IIT-JEE… it has underlined how with proper opportunity, students from poor families can also reach the prestigious IIT,” Super 30’s founder-director Anand Kumar told IANS.

SSLC results to be declared today

The Karnataka Education Board is all set to announce SSLC Results 2012 on Thursday.

As per reports the results would be declared at 1 pm today, ending days of suspense among lakhs of students who sat for the examination.

CEPCMAAP warns against delay in fee-reimbursement

Consortium of Engineering and Professional Colleges Management Association of Andhra Pradesh (CEPCMAAP) has threatened the government that if the first installment i.e. 25 percent of the college fee is not reimbursed to the colleges then they will collect the fee from poor students.

Consortium general secretary, N Ramesh told that standard of education is being effected due to delay in release of fee. He also demanded to scrap management quota, terming it illegal.

No medical admission after July 15: SC

The Supreme Court has framed a series of guidelines for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the country, saying after July 15 each year, neither the government nor the medical or dental councils shall issue any recognition or approval for that academic year.

“The commencement of new courses or increase in seats of existing courses of MBBS/BDS are to be approved/recognised by the government of India by 15th July of each calendar year for the relevant academic sessions of that year.

Jamia declares BEd entrance result

Much to the delight of the aspiring students, Jamia Milia Islamia declared results of the B Ed entrance examination just hours after wrapping up the test.

In a sort of a record, the University announced the list of the 200 selected candidates for the sought after course on the same day of the entrance examination.

LPCET 2012: last date extended

According to chairman LP CET 2012, Commissioner and director of school education AP Hyderabad Mr. N Seva Shankar IAS, the last date of submission of applications for LPCET has been extended till May 16.

Online applications can be sent through AP online/ E-seva Centres till May 17, while correction can be done online till May 19, on http://lpcet.cgg.gov.in.
