Constable Abdul Quadeer’s bail is likely to be extended

The mercy petition about the release of former Police constable, Mr. Abdul Quadeer was heard in AP High Court yesterday. During the course of arguments, Abdul Quadeer’s pleader, Ms. Pushpender Kaur told the judge that Abdul Quadeer has been given punishment in the murder case of a police officer and not in communal disturbance case. Govt. has illegally detained him for the past 22 years. It is the violation of Supreme Court’s ruling. It is, therefore necessary that Govt. should pay Rs. 50,lakh as compensation to him.

LPG subsidy implementation from 15 May

In view of the delay in issuing Aadhar Cards, the State Govt. had requested the Central Govt. to extend the date of implementation of payment of subsidy to the consumers of LPG cylinders. Dr. B.R. Ramesh, IAS Principal Secretary (Finance) told this yesterday.

He told that on an experimental basis, Central Govt. had started the scheme of direct payment of subsidy to LPG consumers belonging the five districts of AP namely, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Anantapur, Chittoor and East Godavari.

Hyderabadi motocycle used in Bangalore bomb blast?

The bomb blast incident which took place near the BJP office in Bangalore, a motorcycle belonging to Hyderabad was used.

Crime Branch of Bangalore City Police and other investigating agencies have found out that the motor cycle used in bomb blast was stolen from Hyderabad. The miscreants had implanted a bomb on the motorcycle. It is reported that the number plate of the motor cycle was forged. Police is trying to identify its owner.

MIM Corporator threatens Tahsildar

Police station Madannapet registered a criminal case against Mr. Murtuza, MIM Corporator of Chowni Nad-e-Ali Baig and others. According to police report, Mr. Murtuza and his friends threatened Radhamani, Tahsildar who was trying to dismantle illegally erected huts near the Central Jail Chanchalguda crossroads. Police is investigating the case.

4% Reservations for Minorities in Police

Chief Secretary of AP Ms. Minnie Mathew has issued instructions to all the heads of departments in the state to implement 15 Pint Programme of the PM of India and to allocate 15% of their total budget for Minorities Welfare Scheme. She also instructed Police Dept. to ensure 4% Reservation for Minorities in its recruitments. She did not accept the contention of the police officers that Muslim candidates are not coming forward in recruitments. A review meeting was held under the stewardship of the Chief Secretary in which 17 departments participated.

Pope Francis was presented with a jersey signed by Argentine soccer star Messi by a group of priests during Wednesday’s public audience.

Messi’s FC Barcelona jersey will join the Spanish national team jersey given to the pontiff Monday by Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy during an audience at the Vatican.

The 76-year-old Argentine-born pope, a big soccer fan, has been building up quite a collection of jerseys.

Explosion at fertilizer plant rocks US town, more than 100 injured

An explosion has ripped through a fertilizer plant in the US town of West sending a massive fireball into the sky and leaving scores of people injured, two days after the Boston bombings. However, initial reports suggested that there was no evidence of an act of terror in the incident. “The explosion happened Wednesday night at a fertilizer plant in the community north of Waco,” a dispatcher with the West, Texas, Fire Department has said.

Telangana activists try to disrupt bus yatra of AP Minister

Pro-Telangana activists today tried to disrupt the bus yatra of Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information and Public Relations D K Aruna in Mahabubnagar district. They allegedly pelted stones at the bus, in which the Congress Minister was travelling, at Pangal town, sources said.

The activists, raising pro-Telangana slogans, tried to obstruct the bus but police dispersed them. Undeterred by the protest, the Minister continued her yatra, which she launched on April 13. During the yatra which will conclude on April 21, Aruna is publicising welfare schemes of the Congress government.

FBI arrests suspect for sending ricin letter to Obama

The FBI has arrested a suspect in the state of Mississippi for sending letters to US President Barack Obama and a Senator laced with the deadly poison ricin. The suspect, Paul Kevin Curtis, 45, was arrested by FBI yesterday at his residence in Corinth, responsible for the mailings of the three letters sent through the US Postal Service which contained a granular substance that preliminarily tested positive for ricin.

Registered owner of bike used for Bangalore explosion traced

In a swift action, the city police have traced the registered owner of the motorbike which was used for bomb blast in Bangalore, in which 16 people were injured. The number plate of the bike has been traced to a retired telecom employee here, who said that he had sold the bike about four years ago, a police source said.

Boston attack, part of the global plot to discredit Islam: Muslim Brotherhood

Essam el-Erian, Vice President of Muslim Brotherhood on Tuesday linked the Boston bombings to an anti-Islam conspiracy.

In a post on his Facebook page Essam suggested the attack was part of a global plot to discredit Islam, citing violence in Mali, Syria, Somalia and other Muslim nations, according to a report published in The Hill.

The Brotherhood also issued a statement and said that the Freedom and Justice party, the group said Islamic law, or Shariah, does not condone violence against civilians, and expressed condolences to the American people and families of the victims.

Hollywood actor Vin Diesel has announced that James Wan’s “Fast & Furious 7” will hit screens on July 11, 2014.

Six UP cops suspended for custodial death

Six policemen, including an inspector were suspended in Uttar Pradesh after a man facing charges for running an illegal arms racket died in a police station here, officials said Thursday.

Virendra Mishra,28, was picked up by the Hasanganj police at around 5 p.m. Wednesday for being part of the racket, and a country made weapon was also recovered from him.

He was allegedly beaten up by the police in the lock-up after which he hanged himself with a piece of blanket.

Storm disrupts road, rail, air services in Kolkata

A storm, with maximum wind speed of 116 km per hour, hit Kolkata Wednesday evening disrupting normal life as road, rail and air services. Over 50 trees were uprooted and a number of wall collapse incidents were reported.

There were no human casualties.

The storm (locally called norwester which is common at this time of the year), uprooted trees blocking major thoroughfares while several incidents of wall collapse were reported, police said.

Minor sodomised by schoolteacher in Delhi

A five-year-old kindergarten student was sodomised by his schoolteacher here in the capital, police said Thursday.

The incident was reported from East Delhi’s Jagatpuri area Wednesday afternoon where it occurred in a Municipal Corporation-run school.

The boy was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital by his family after he shared about the incident which occurred in the school premises.

The accused teacher, identified as Pramod, is in his early 30s. He was arrested after the victim’s statement to the police.

China to honour UN resolution on North Korea

China has given an assurance to comply with the UN resolution on North Korea and abide by the international duties related to it..

“We will firmly follow the UN resolution and honour related international obligations,” Xinhua quoted foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying Wednesday.

The spokeswoman made the remarks in a press conference when asked whether China would follow the resolution, which imposes sanctions on North Korea.

Bangladeshi pro-opposition daily’s editor sent to jail

The editor of a Bangladesh’s pro-opposition daily was sent to jail Wednesday in a case filed for publication of a report on the Skype conversation.

Mahmudur Rahman, acting editor of the Bengali-language Daily Amardesh and one of the government’s most vocal critics, was detained April 11 from his office in Dhaka.

He was sent to jail following completion of a seven-day remand period, Xinhua reported.

Bird flu cases rise to 31 in Shanghai

The number of avian flu affected cases reached 31 in Shanghai, with the confirmation of a new case Wednesday, health authorities said.

An 89-year-old man surnamed Chen, tested positive for H7N9 Tuesday night at the Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, reported Xinhua citing a statement from the Shanghai Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission.

Chen, a native of east China’s Jiangsu province, was hospitalised at a hospital Tuesday. He is in stable condition, the statement said.

Karnataka CM suspects terrorist hand in blast

The bomb blast near the state Bharatiya Janata Party city office that left at least 16 people injured indicated the hand of terrorists and state police has set up a special team to investigate the attack, Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said on Wednesday.

“By tomorrow or day after, details will be known about the incident and appropriate action will be taken in this regard,” he told reporters after visiting the blast site.
