Turkey seizes massive weapon haul on Libya-flagged ship

Beijing, Apr. 25 (Xinhua-ANI): A Libyan captain and a Turkish on a Libya-flagged ship were arrested by the Turkish police on suspicion of loading weapons for Libya, local media reported Thursday.

The ship arrived at Tuzla port of Istanbul province on April 4, notifying that it would receive maintenance with empty cargo.

The Turkish security forces searched the ship and seized 5,000 pistol bullets, 90 units of shotguns, 199 pieces of 7.65 mm pistols, 210 pieces of 9 mm pistols, 260 units of long barreled weapon ball cartridges, two gas masks and 251,000 shot gun shells. (Xinhua-ANI)

Microsoft signs Android patent deal with China”s smart phone maker ZTE

Seattle, Apr. 25 (ANI): Microsoft has signed a patent deal with China’s smart phones maker ZTE linked to its use of the Android and Chrome operating systems

However, both Android and chrome operating systems is Google’s brainchild. Microsoft possesses intellectual property rights to some of the software’s underlying technologies, the BBC reports.

The deal comes weeks after Microsoft had signed a similar deal with Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn.

George W. Bush ‘very comfortable’ with decision to invade Iraq during presidency

Flash floods, quake kill more than 24 people in Afghanistan

Kabul, April 25 (ANI): Over two dozen people have been killed in flash floods and earthquake in different provinces of Afghanistan during the past two days.

A strong earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter Scale rocked eastern Afghanistan yesterday, killing at least 13 persons and injuring at least 100 in Nangerhar Province and in neighbouring Kunar Province.

The epicenter of the quake was near Mehtar Lam city nearly 100 kilometer east of Kabul.

The earthquake destroyed many houses in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces which are near the epicenter of the quake.

Two minor sisters raped by mother’s paramour in Delhi

In yet another shocking crime, two minor sisters were allegedly raped by their mother’s paramour who was living in their house here, police said Thursday.

The accused, identified as Rakesh Mishra, 35, a motor mechanic, has been arrested.

“The man had been staying in the victims’ house in Shahbad Dairy area in north Delhi for the past one year and raped the sisters aged 13 and 11 years several times,” a senior police officer told IANS.

On Wednesday night, the elder sister revealed the situation to a neighbour, who, in turn, informed police.

A 40-year-old Indian woman was kept prisoner for six months by the Obhrai family on their 2-million-pound estate in Middlesex.

She was passed between two other families where she was forced to work for 2 pounds an hour and raped several times by butcher Enkarta Balapovi, according to the Independent .

Her passport was taken away and she was forced to work 17-hour shifts seven days a week, fed only on out-of-date food and the chewed leftovers of their three children.

An apex court bench headed by Justice G S Singhvi directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to file an affidavit to explain why a young girl was beaten up during the protest against the rape of five-year-old in Delhi.

Pakistan court orders Musharraf’s arrest in Benazir murder case

An anti-terrorism court has issued orders to arrest former president Pervez Musharraf in Benazir Bhutto murder case.

The Express News reported that the court also granted permission to investigate Musharraf in this regard.

Delhi HC expresses concern over gang-rape of child

The Delhi High Court Thursday expressed concern over the gang-rape of a five-year-old girl child saying “something somewhere is wrong” and wondered whether “people are going mad”.

“It is surprising what is happening in Delhi. Something somewhere is wrong,” said a division bench of Chief Justice D. Murugesan and Justice Jayant Nath.

“Are people going mad? A five-year-old has been raped… Some sort of awareness is needed,” the court observed.

Boy of 11 undergoes open heart surgery in Delhi Hospital

An 11-year-old girl from Africa, who had sickle cell disease, underwent a rare open heart surgery, doctors at a hospital here claimed Thursday.

Ayesha Sadiq was diagnosed with a disorder of the heart valve, which caused outflow of the blood from the right side to be obstructed. She also had sickle cell disease, a genetic disorder.

Sickle cell disease is a condition in which the haemoglobin in the blood is of an abnormal kind, resulting in a high tendency for blood to clot within the body under conditions of stress. This can lead to stroke, renal failure and even death.
