Supreme Court’s historic ruling on same-sex marriage has bought bundles of happiness for Jack Evans and George Harris as after 54 years of togetherness they finally could tie the knot.

The 85-year-old Evans and 82-year-old Harris, who were two of the first people to get married post court’s verdict on June 26, tied knot after they were given a marriage license in Texas, reported Us magazine.

The couple, who has spent decades fighting for LGBTQ rights and marriage equality, wore suits with red ties for the happy occasion.

Susan K. Wood said that the research is very relevant to today’s society because it investigates potential treatments for people with an increased susceptibility to depression and related disorders that arise due to social stress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid stress on the need for second Green Revolution in the country.
“There is an immediate need of Green Revolution in the country. The Green Revolution should immediately start in eastern India including Jharkhand, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha and Assam,” said Modi.

The prime minister was addressing the people at Barhi in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand after laying the foundation stone of the Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI).

86 vehicles torched in Pune’s Sun city

Eighty-two two-wheelers and four cars parked in various residential societies were burnt by unidentified persons in Sun City area here in the wee hours today, police said.

The miscreants reportedly unplugged the petrol tube of the vehicles and set them on fire between 3 AM and 4 AM, they said.

The motive behind the crime, that shocked and affected a large number of residents in the area, was not clear, said police inspector B Kashid of Sinhgad police station.

HRD ministry calls crucial meeting of VCs on July 7

The HRD ministry has called a crucial meeting of the Vice Chancellors of all central universities on July 7 to discuss the roll out of the contentious Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from the ensuing academic session.

“A meeting of all the Vice Chancellors of central universities has been called on July 7 where the progress on CBCS implementation from 2015-16 session will be discussed,” officials in the ministry said.

The officials claimed “most of the universities have put a mechanism in place to implement the proposed programme and the syllabi is being fine-tuned”.

A 32-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide after poisoning her two children at a village in East Godavari district, police said on Sunday.

The deceased identified as G Suryakala (32) and her two sons – Ghanaeswara (14) and Lokesh (11) – were found dead at their residence in Old Gigolupadu village last night in Kakinada sub-division, Inspector (crime) S Muralikrishna Reddy said.

Coffee lovers rejoice! A new study has suggested that drinking 3-5 cups of coffee per day could cut an individual’s cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality risk by up to 21 percent.

The Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee’s study highlights that the lowest CVD mortality risk is seen at an intake of approximately 3 cups of coffee per day, with a percentage risk reduction of up to 21 percent.

The study suggests an association between coffee consumption and CVD risk, proposing a “U-shaped” pattern whereby optimal protective effects were achieved with 3-5 cups of coffee per day.

SDRF Deputy Commissioner A.K. Jha said the child was unconscious but alive.
