Sandal procession will start from Balapur and passing through Kottapet, Shaheen Nagar, Jalpally, it will stop at Dargah Shakar Shah Wali, Jalpally before Fajar prayer. After offering Fajar prayer the rituals of sandal will be performed.

‘Iran keen to invest in AP’s mining, agri & allied sectors’

Iran is keen on working with Andhra Pradesh Government in various sectors including mining, marine and IT, according to Ali Akbar Nategh-Nouri, advisor to Iran’s supreme leader.

Ali Akbar called on Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Secretariat.

While reflecting on the potential areas of collaboration between Iran and India, he said Iran is keen on working with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in mining, marine, agriculture, horticulture, petro-chemicals and IT, an official release stated.

“Bauxite has good demand in Iran,” he was quoted as saying in the release.

Rajnath for early work on mobile towers in Maoist-hit areas

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has called for expeditious completion of work concerning installation of mobile towers in Maoist-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, an official statement said on Monday.

According to a home ministry release, the minister, who paid two-day visit to the Maoist affected areas of the state and interacted with personnel of paramilitary forces and state police, “directed the installation of mobile towers by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) be expedited, particularly in Sukma district”.

Prince William returns to work as paternity leave ends

Prince William, second in line of succession to the British throne, returned to work after the end of his unpaid paternity leave, which he took after the birth of his daughter Princess Charlotte, a media report said.

He resumed his work as an air ambulance pilot on Monday.

The Duke of Cambridge began his paternity leave in late April, before his wife, Duchess Kate Middleton, gave birth on May 2 to Charlotte, the younger sister of Prince George, who will turn two years old next July 22.

Congress today did not attach much importance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that his government will not tolerate violence against any community, saying it was just a “camouflage” for the “routine business” of the sangh parivar.

“Modi’s statement is purely intended to camouflage whatever all goes on as routine business on the part of the sangh parivar and his accolades.

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari and Roads and Buildings Minister T. Nageswara Rao were among five candidates of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) elected to the state legislative council in the election held Monday. Main opposition Congress bagged the sixth seat.

Srihari has resigned as Lok Sabha meber after he was inducted in the state cabinet in January this year while Nageswara Rao, who crossed over from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and was inducted in the cabinet in December last year, was not a member of either house of the legislature.

Highly qualified woman cannot be permitted to sit idle: Mumbai family court

Refusing to grant maintenance to a highly qualified woman, a Mumbai family court has held that she cannot be permitted to sit idle and put her burden on the husband for demanding alimony during pendency of a matrimonial petition.

Section 24 of Hindu Marriage Act is not meant for creating an army of such persons who would be sitting idle waiting for a ‘dole’ to be awarded by her husband who has got a grievance against her and moved the court for seeking relief against her, said Dr Laxmi P Rao, Principal Judge of Family Court here.

I am not against minorities: Praveen Togadia

Denied permission by Odisha government to visit communally sensitive Kandhamal district, VHP president Praveen Togadia on Friday clarified that he was not against the minorities but would continue to speak in favour of his Hindu brothers and sisters.

“I am not against the minorities, but I’ll certainly speak on the interest of my Hindu brothers and sisters,” Togadia told reporters, adding that he was, however, against the illegal entry of Bangladeshi Muslims.

Togadia said he had been worried over the safety, security and well being of the Hindus.

Rahul to visit Ambedkar’s birthplace on Tuesday

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will on Tuesday visit Mhow, the birthplace of B.R. Ambedkar, to inaugurate the year-long celebrations of the leader’s 125th birth anniversary by the party.

Gandhi is expected to reach Indore at noon and garland the statue of Ambedkar, regarded as the architect of the Indian Constitution.

He will later address a public meeting in the afternoon and interact with Dalit leaders and activists in the evening.

In a veiled attack on Congress, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today alleged that since Independence funds meant for welfare of minorities were not well spent and “looted” by middlemen and “power brokers”.

Government Widens Maggi Probe; Tests Noodle Samples From all States

Widening its probe into alleged lapses of food safety standards in Maggi noodles, the government today said it is testing samples from all states and strict action will be taken for any violation, including against brand ambassadors of the famous brand of Nestle.

The tests are being done by the central food safety regulator FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) and the reports are expected to come in the next 2-3 days.

In a rare example of communal harmony, a Hindu man who brought up a Muslim girl for 20 years after she was deserted as a child by her poverty-stricken parents, has now married her to a groom from her own community.

Upendra Gupta, who brought up Shabbo Khatoon as his own daughter, married her to a Muslim boy with Islamic rituals.

Gupta, a resident of Jhanda Chowk in Purnea district, about 400 km from Patna, had found Shabbo 20 years ago when she was just four years old and abandoned by her parents.

He brought her up like his own daughter, but according to Muslim practices.

Light Showers Bring Down Temperature in Delhi

Overcast skies and scattered rains today offered respite to the national capital with both maximum and minimum temperatures settling below normal.

Light showers were recorded at Lodhi Road, Ridge and Safdarjung observatories while Palam and Ayanagar weather stations remained dry.

The maximum temperature today settled at 37 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average and 3.6 degrees less than yesterday, while the minimum was two notches below normal at 25.9 degrees, Meteorological department officials said.

In a sartorial shift, employees at IT major Infosys can now wear business casuals on all working days starting from Monday, as the company has decided to do away with its dress code.

The move is considered an attempt by the country’s second largest IT services firm to better engage with its employees and arrest attrition.

“From Monday, June 1, 2015, you can flaunt your smart business casuals all week long!” an email sent by Infosys to its employees read.

Dementia causing protein also leads to memory loss in healthy brains

A new study has examined that a brain protein act as a key component in the progress of dementia that can cause memory loss in healthy brains.

The study conducted at University of Sussex observed how insoluble protein Abeta affected healthy brains of pond snails (Lymnaea stagnalis) by observing the effect of administering the protein following a food-reward training task.

The results showed that snails treated with Abeta had significantly impaired memories 24 hours later when tested with the food task, even though their brain tissue showed no sign of damage.

Will ask SC if India can approach ICJ: Sushma

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday stated that the government will approach the Supreme Court to ask if India can go to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding Captain Saurabh Kalia’s case.

“We will ask the Supreme Court if India can go to the International Court of Justice when such a provision is in place. There is a provision in the International Court of Justice where India and Pakistan can’t go there against each other regarding any war related matter,” said Swaraj.
