Muslims who consider India their motherland are entitled to all citizen rights: Shiv Sena

Weeks after the Election Commission expressed displeasure over senior leader Sanjay Raut’s comments on voting rights of Muslims, the Shiv Sena on Tuesday said all Muslims who consider India their motherland should be given all citizen rights.

“All Muslims who consider India as their motherland and those who are ready to sweat it out for the development of the country are our brothers and they should be given all the rights as citizens of India,” the Sena said in an editorial in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.

(Siasat News): A man attempted to kill his wife and mother-in-law in Tappachabutra where his wife died in the attack whereas mother-in-law got severely injured.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Asifnagar division Mr. Ghouse Mohiuddin immediately reached the spot and took stock of the situation. He said that the accused Yashwant had attacked his wife Manjula and mother-in-law Kalavathi and fled the scene.

Woman burnt alive by husband, in-laws for dowry

A 30-year-old woman was burnt to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands at Khanpur village here, police said today.

According to the complaint lodged by victim’s father, Kajal was set ablaze by her husband and in-laws last evening for failing to fulfil their demands of dowry.

The woman was rushed to hospital where she was declared dead, police said.

Kajal’s husband Sonu, father-in-law Vijaypal and mother-in-law Munesh has been arrested, they said, adding, a case has been registered against six people in this connection.

Senior BJP leader and leading lawyer Subramanian Swamy will be arguing for the release of the self-styled godman Asaram, accused in a sexual assault case, on Tuesday in Jodhpur.

4 killed as truck hits jeep carrying marriage party in UP

Four persons, including two minors, were killed and 20 others injured when a jeep carrying marriage party was hit by a truck in Sahaswan area here triggering protest by locals, police said today.

Achchan (18), Gurveer Singh (15), Brijesh (12) and an unidentified person were killed when the jeep in which they were travelling was hit by the truck on Delhi route last night, Additional Superintendent of Police Balendu Bhushan Singh said.

20 persons were injured in the accident and were admitted to the hospital, he said, adding, condition of five injured was stated to be critical.

Light showers likely to lash Delhi

Delhi woke up to a partly cloudy sky Tuesday with the minimum temperature settling at 22.2 degrees Celsius, five notches below the season’s average.

Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, Palam, Ridge and Ayanagar weather stations recorded rainfall of 2.9 mm, 2.2 mm, 6.0 mm, 0.7 mm and 10.2 mm respectively over the past 24 hours, MeT department said.

The department has forecast partly cloudy skies with light showers in parts of city.

“Sky will be partly cloudy. Light showers are expected in some parts of the city. Day temperature is expected to rise up to 37 degrees Celsius,” a MeT official said.
