Weeks after the Election Commission expressed displeasure over senior leader Sanjay Raut’s comments on voting rights of Muslims, the Shiv Sena on Tuesday said all Muslims who consider India their motherland should be given all citizen rights.

“All Muslims who consider India as their motherland and those who are ready to sweat it out for the development of the country are our brothers and they should be given all the rights as citizens of India,” the Sena said in an editorial in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.

Man kills wife, mother-in-law injured
(Siasat News): A man attempted to kill his wife and mother-in-law in Tappachabutra where his wife died in the attack whereas mother-in-law got severely injured.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Asifnagar division Mr. Ghouse Mohiuddin immediately reached the spot and took stock of the situation. He said that the accused Yashwant had attacked his wife Manjula and mother-in-law Kalavathi and fled the scene.

A 30-year-old woman was burnt to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands at Khanpur village here, police said today.

According to the complaint lodged by victim’s father, Kajal was set ablaze by her husband and in-laws last evening for failing to fulfil their demands of dowry.

The woman was rushed to hospital where she was declared dead, police said.

Kajal’s husband Sonu, father-in-law Vijaypal and mother-in-law Munesh has been arrested, they said, adding, a case has been registered against six people in this connection.

In a rare example of communal harmony, a Hindu man who brought up a Muslim girl for 20 years after she was deserted as a child by her poverty-stricken parents, has now married her to a groom from her own community.

Upendra Gupta, who brought up Shabbo Khatoon as his own daughter, married her to a Muslim boy with Islamic rituals.

Four persons, including two minors, were killed and 20 others injured when a jeep carrying marriage party was hit by a truck in Sahaswan area here triggering protest by locals, police said today.

Achchan (18), Gurveer Singh (15), Brijesh (12) and an unidentified person were killed when the jeep in which they were travelling was hit by the truck on Delhi route last night, Additional Superintendent of Police Balendu Bhushan Singh said.

20 persons were injured in the accident and were admitted to the hospital, he said, adding, condition of five injured was stated to be critical.

Former Indian skipper Ravi Shastri has been named as the interim coach of Team India during the tour of Bangladesh starting June 10, confirmed BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur on Tuesday.

“BCCI has appointed Ravi Shastri as the interim coach for Bangladesh tour,” said Thakur while talking to the media.

“B Arun will be the bowling coach, Sanjay Bangar will be the batting coach and R Sridhar will be the fielding coach, ” added Thakur.

The Shastri wore different hats in the past with the Indian team and BCCI.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday blamed the Congress for the poor condition of the Dalits and minorities in the country, holding the grand old party’s ‘vote bank politics’ responsible for the same.

“The Congress vote bank ideology is the reason that has resulted in a situation where Dalits and minorities have not developed in the country,” said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

The formation of Andhra Pradesh used to be celebrated every year in the undivided state, but the state government has decided to observe the day as ‘reconstruction day’ as bifurcation was carried out against the wishes of the people, the state government had said on Sunday.
