A girl slipped into a sump and died at Begumpet area. According to Begumpet police 3-year-old Pranita, D/O of Raju, R/O of Kishan Nagar was playing when she suddenly fell into the sump and died. Begumpet police is investigating the case.

Jung says he controls Delhi’s anti-corruption branch

Delhi’s Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on Tuesday said the city’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) functions under his “authority, control and supervision”.

The declaration came after a media report said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had appointed six Bihar Police officials in the ACB.

“This refers to a news item published in a couple of dailies today about the reported posting of police officials from Bihar in Delhi’s ACB,” an official release from Jung’s office said.

Rail accident victim in Malaysia identified as Indian

Police confirmed the man who was run over by the Express Rail Link (ERL) near an interchange station in Malaysia, was an Indian national, media reported on Tuesday.

After verifying with two witnesses, police confirmed the victim as 39-year-old Jagdish Singh, Astro Awani news channel reported.

The victim’s identity was also confirmed after police recorded a witness statement of the owner of a retail shop who admitted to holding Singh’s passport.

This rank was given in a survey conducted by Online portal Career360 of Higher Educational Rating and Career Counselling. Be alert: Live Larvae Found In Nestle’s Milk Powder Pack

Nestle’s ‘Maggi’ noodles were subjected to tests at several places in the country for reportedly containing very high levels of lead and monosodium glutamate (MSG) which is highly dangerous to human lives.

Nestle India’s woes continued to escalate as dozens of live larvae were found in the company’s baby milk powder in Tamil Nadu.

According to the report, K Prem Ananth, a taxi driver from Puliakulam, Coimbatore, had purchased a 380 gm Nestle NAN PRO 3 carton, a milk powder for his baby.

Telangana to launch recruitment for government jobs

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced that notification for recruitment for 25,000 government posts will be issued in July.

Britain’s oldest vegetarian dinosaur found

Scientists have identified Britain’s oldest sauropod (plant-eaters) dinosaur from a fossil bone discovered on the Yorkshire coast.

The vertebra (backbone) originates from a group of dinosaurs that includes the largest land animals to have ever walked on the Earth.

This new sauropod dinosaur, from the Middle Jurassic Period at about 176 million years old, was found near Whitby, Yorkshire.

Nayanmoni 37 outperformed her son Ankur, 18, in the class XII final exam in Assam securing first division with 69.8% and above 80% in sociology. Both have attended the examination as regular students.

Suspected love story of elderly couple ends up in graveyard

On the suspicion that they were in a relationship, a 75-year-old Yousuf was forced to walk down the aisle (marry) 65-year-old widow Jamila by village panchayat in Bijnor as per reports in TOI.

The couple is finding it hard to survive as they are forced to live in a graveyard on the outskirts of the village under the scorching sun since Sunday without a shed and with a few clothes and utensils.

“The nights are even worse,” says Yousuf, who worked as a labourer but has been rendered jobless for the past two days.

IIT-Madras row: Law College students boycott classes

Students of Law College boycotted their classes for the second day on Tuesday protesting against the de-recognition of an IIT-Madras students’ body allegedly for being critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They also blocked the road in front of the district court here and termed the de-recognition of Ambedkar Periar Study Circle at IIT, Madras, as an “attack on the freedom of expression”.

The students also demanded that the de-recognition be rolled back immediately. The traffic on the busy road was affected for more than one hour.

Maggi row: Bihar court directs FIR agst Amitabh, Madhuri, Preity

A district court here directed police today to register an FIR against two Nestle officials and film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta, who have featured in the Maggi advertisements and arrest them if required.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ramchandra Prasad directed Kazi Mohammadpur Police Station to register the FIR against the five and investigate the complaint.

The court also directed the police to go for arrest if required in the course of investigation.

The order came during the hearing of a case filed by lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha yesterday.

Rajan cuts lending rate by 0.25%

Reserve Bank Governor Raghuram Rajan today cut the key interest rate by 0.25 per cent, third time this year, meeting market and government expectations of boosting growth by lowering borrowing cost.

While the RBI cut the repo rate from 7.5 per cent to 7.25, it left all other policy tools like cash reserve requirement unchanged at 4 per cent and Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) at 21.5 per cent.

Fishing ban comes into effect in Goa

The 61-day ban on fishing, which has been imposed to facilitate the breeding of fish, came into effect in Goa from yesterday.

The ban on fishing was imposed to safeguard fish during their breeding season. The ban during the breeding season helps replenish the fish stock in the sea by preventing large-scale netting of young fish and eggs.

During the ban period, the mechanised fishing boats, trawlers, including traditional boats are banned from carrying out fishing activities in the waters.

Sensex plunges 280 points; interest sensitive stocks hit (

A less-than-expected easing of the monetary policy by the Reserve Bank Of India and the hawkish outlook given by it, subdued investor sentiments and led a barometer index of the Indian equities markets to trade deep in the red during the post-noon session on Tuesday.

The benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), was trading a little over 280 points or 1.01 percent down.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading in the negative zone. It was lower by 80 points or 0.94 percent at 8,353.75 points.
