KCR is afraid of losing election: Errabelli

The Telangana TDP leaders on Saturday alleged that the fear of losing fifth seat in the MLC elections has led Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to give a statement threatening to dissolve the Assembly.

Speaking to media persons here, TDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao dared KCR to dissolve the Assembly and seek fresh mandate. He accused the Chief Minister of using his cabinet colleagues as ‘brokers’ to ‘purchase’ the MLAs of opposition parties. He said that the Chief Minister has lost trust on his own MLAs.

Freedom of navigation in SCS should not be abused: China

As the US went on an offensive over the disputed South China Sea alleging the Chinese reclamation projects there may hinder freedom of navigation, China today hit back saying that free movement in the tense region was never hindered but it should not be abused.

“Over the years, there has never been any issue with freedom of navigation in the South China Sea (SCS) nor would such an issue come up in the future,” China’s Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin said in a signed article carried by the state-run Xinhua news agency.

KTR favors Mana TV expansion for training, jobs

IT Minister K T Ramarao today directed the officials to expand and strengthen Mana TV being run by the State government to provide jobs through training and skills.

During a review meeting with TSPSC Chairman G Chakrapani and other officials here, KTR asked them to name SAP NET after Telangana. The minister directed them to appoint a full-time CEO for Mana TV network and sought a detailed report of changes to be made besides writing a letter to Andhra Pradesh Government for payment of arrears for using SAP NET services.

CPI seeks Rs 5 lakh ex gratia to kin of farmers

CPI Telangana State Council has asked the TRS government to extend Rs 5 lakh ex gratia to the families of farmers who committed suicides. The CPI also asked the State government to inquire into the reasons that forced farmers to end their lives.

On Saturday, CPI State Council Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy addressed a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao stating that responding on suicides of farmers in Medak district, the High Court sought government’s explanation, but unfortunately the government did not respond.

Chief Secretaries of TS, AP meet Union Home Secy

Chief Secretaries of Telangana and AP Rajiv Sharma and IYR Krishna Rao respectively had a meeting with Union Home Secretary L.C. Goyal this morning at New Delhi.

Telangana Chief Secretary mentioned in the meeting that in respect of Schedule Nine institutions the division of assets has to be done on the territorial basis. He also said with regards Schedule Ten institutions Telangana State is committed to provide services to AP State government on payment of cost. There will not be any joint management of these institutions as asked by AP government, he said.

Yet to decide on DSC; Rs 145.75 cr for facilities in Colleges: Srihar

Stating that the Telangana Government is yet to decide on conducting District Selection Commission (DSC) Education Minister Kadiam Srihari today said he will give clarity on teacher recruitment at a later date.

Addressing the media at Secretariat here, Kadiam said they are focusing on providing all facilities under “Swacch Telagana–Swacch Patashala” scheme. The State Government will spend Rs 145.75 cr for providing facilities such as drinking water, additional classrooms, toilets, power supply, strengthen the academic standards through filling of vacant posts.

PM Modi meets schoolchildren from J and K

A group of 24 schoolchildren from the Mawar Valley of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The students, belonging to Classes 6 to 8, are currently on a tour to various parts of the country as part of the Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavna.

The Prime Minister interacted with the students on various subjects such as their studies, and their interest in sports.

Rains ease heat wave in Andhra, Telangana

Rains in parts of Andhra Pradsh and Telangana eased blistering heat wave, which claimed nearly 2,000 lives so far, officials said.

The heat wave subsided as showers and thunderstorms brought much-needed relief to people reeling under scorching summer temperatures for last two weeks.

However, the day temperatures remained high in parts of the two states. Ramagundam in Telangana and Jangamaheshwarapuram in Guntu district of Andhra Pradesh sizzled at 47 degree Celsius.

Boy makes hoax bomb call to prevent parent-teacher meet

Panic spread at a school today in Haryana after a 13-year-old boy allegedly made a hoax bomb call to the authority to prevent parent-teacher meeting, police said.

The class VIII student of a private school in Kurukshetra, rang up to the authorities to prevent his parents from taking part in a parent-teacher meeting which was scheduled to be held today, they said.

“We got a call from the school this morning that some unidentified person had rung up to say a bomb has been planted inside the educational institution,” Kurukshetra’s Superintendent of Police Simardeep Singh said.

Former Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is mounting a political comeback, has expressed fears that the separatist Tamil Tigers could regroup and revive terrorism in the country.

“We are glad that terrorists are no more. But I have a suspicion that we may return to see terrorism,” Rajapaksa said.

“We don’t want to see that happening we want everyone to live in peace and harmony,” he told a religious gathering in the north central town of Anuradhapura on Friday.

Alastair Cook was on the verge of breaking Graham Gooch’s England Test runs record at Headingley on Saturday.

At lunch on the second day of the second Test, England were 54 without loss in reply to New Zealand’s first innings 350 following some effective late-order hitting by the tourists.
