Mayweather’s camp forces Pacquiao to get his cup checked before Las Vegas mega-bout

Unbeaten US boxing champion Floyd Mayweather’s camp turned to mind games as they apparently took issue with the size of Manny Pacquiao’s cup before their much-anticipated ‘fight of the century’ bout on Saturday in Las Vegas.

It was alleged that Pacquiao’s cup was too big, which would protect the Filipino boxer from the American’s body blows if it were proven right.

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe claimed there was a similar issue when the American fought Oscar De La Hoya in 2007 as the latter’s cup was well over his navel.

IS militants open first five-star hotel for fighters in Iraq

Islamic State (IS) militants have opened its first five-star hotel for fighters in need of rest and recreation in war-ravaged Iraq.

According to the Daily Star, the hotel apparently does not cater to booze, dancing, music, smoking or gambling, and women must dress head-to-toe in black including gloves.

The Ninawa Hotel’s 262 rooms have been reserved for visiting commanders but it will be opened for weddings so that jihadi brides can marry fighters.

BJP condemns Pakistan flag waving at Geelani’s Tral rally

Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party-People’s Democratic Party (BJP-PDP) coalition on Saturday hit back at Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani, at whose rally Pakistani flags were waved in Tral and called for legal action against the latter.

BJP leader Hina Bhat said that such demonstrations would not have any effect and should not be paid heed to.

“This has been happening since 20 years and it is not going to have any effect. It will definitely have repercussions but this matter should not be given so much weightage,” Bhat said.

‘Roots,’ the classic 1977 miniseries is undergoing a remake.

Brazil completes stadium construction 10 months after SWC

Some of the stadiums that were used during the Brazil Soccer World Cup have been finally completed, 10 months following the conclusion of the sport’s pinnacle tournament.

The Itaquerao stadium in Sao Paulo and the Arena De Baixada in Curitiba have been just completed to the original designs they were supposed to be.

The Brazilian government had spent about 3 billion dollars on the improvement of the stadiums to host the matches of the tournament in June. They had hoped that these improvements would in turn help the stadiums to become a heritage for the country, the BBC reported.

AAP protests over Moga molestation incident

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday protested against the Moga incident, wherein, a 13-year-old girl was thrown off a moving bus after being molested.

“We are protesting here by burning Sukhbir Singh Badal’s effigy. This family is not being given justice. The FIR is not being registered against the company.

The permit of the bus company should be cancelled,” Jassi Jasraj ( AAP), a protestor told ANI here.

The protestors also targeted Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal, demanding that an FIR be lodged against her.

Members of the Kabul-backed peace council is set to hold a conference with an eight member team of the Afghan Taliban discuss a possible solution to the Afghan conflict.

According to the Express Tribune, a Taliban spokesperson said that they will not participate in any peace talks.

The victim Yadamma, 55, was plucking flowers when this incident occurred as he suddenly came near to her and ran away with the gold chain.
