Former Brazil and Inter Milan striker Adriano could be the latest high-profile footballer to join Indian Super League (ISL) as FC Goa coach Zico has invited him to join his side in the coming season.

Zico said on his Facebook page that he has offered 33-year-old Adriano, who is currently a free agent, to play for FC Goa in the ISL second season this year.

“I have received Adriano at The Centre of football and I was happy to see that he is well and in a way. I invited him to play in the Goa fc with me in this season,” Zico wrote.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said Pakistan should stop interfering in India`s internal matters and rather worry about their own selves.

“Pakistan should worry about themselves and should not interfere in the internal matters of India. We cannot accept even any other nation`s interference in India`s internal matters,” Singh told ANI.

Nepal Earthquake: Fresh 5.0 tremor hits Pokhara region

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake occured near Pokhara, Nepal, on Saturday, according to the US Geological Survey.

Thousands of people are still missing in Nepal as food and help began to trickle through to those stranded in remote areas after last week’s earthquake which killed 6,250.

The death toll could rise further. Bodies are still being pulled from the debris of ruined buildings, while rescue workers have not been able to reach some remote areas.

The government put the number of injured at more than 14,350.

FIR filed against Snapdeal, its CEO among others

An FIR has been filed against Snapdeal, its CEO Kunal Bahl and others after Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clamped down on the e-commerce major for online sale of prescription drugs.

FDA Commissioner Harshadeep Kamble said Snapdeal has been found to be selling these drugs despite its warnings and an earlier undertaking by the company to stop such sales, while investigations into other e-commerce giants like Flipkart and Amazon are on to ascertain if they were also involved in similar activities, Kamble said.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will personally oversee relief operations for the earthquake victims at the Indo-Nepal border on Monday.

“WB CM to oversee relief operations at Indo-Nepal border on May four,” the All India Trinamool Congress office tweeted on Saturday.

Soon after the quake, which severely rocked Nepal last week leaving thousands dead, Banerjee had rushed to north Bengal to gauge the damage inflicted by the tremor in the area which adjoins the Himalayan country.

16-year-old girl raped by cousins in UP

A minor girl was allegedly abducted and raped by her two cousins in Balauni police station area here, police said today.

The 16-year-old girl in her complaint alleged that on the night of April 21, her cousins Arif and Shahzad abducted and raped her, Incharge of Balauni police station Dharmendra Panwar said.

The accused abducted her on the pretext of taking her to a marriage function which was being attended by her family members as well, he said.

Centre asks states to highlight ‘success stories’ of flagship schemes

The NDA government, which is completing one year in office this month, has asked state governments including those ruled by opposition parties to highlight and “furnish success stories” of all Centrally sponsored flagship programmes, particularly those concerning rural economy, pertaining to this period.

On the directive of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, various ministries have asked state governments to “furnish success stories” of various flagship programmes of the Centre, which were undertaken by them in their states, sources said.

Kathmandu citizens told not to eat meat over fears of disease

Authorities in Nepal’s capital have asked residents not to slaughter or consume animals and birds over fears of a pandemic in the wake of last week’s devastating earthquake that rocked the Himalayan nation.

Issuing a public notice, the Kathmandu District Administration has appealed to local people not to consume meat-related food items for the time being.

The authorities believe that the selling of meat would add to sanitation and health-related complications as several agencies fear the outbreak of a pandemic.

Senior army officer booked for raping mentally challenged woman

A senior Army officer has been booked for allegedly raping a mentally challenged woman here, police said today.

Colonel Vinod Sahani has been booked for allegedly raping the 21-year-old mentally retarded woman on April 30, who stayed in his neighbourhood, Devlali Camp police station assistant sub-inspector Atul Zende said.

According to complaint filed by the girl’s family, the senior army officer lured the girl to his house and later raped her, the officer said, adding, the victim’s parents lodged the complaint yesterday.

Kate Middleton gives birth to baby girl

The wait for Prince William’s second baby was finally over as his wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, today gave birth to a baby girl.

The baby was “safely delivered” at 8:34 am local time (0734 GMT), Kensington Palace said in a statement.

The father, Duke of Cambridge, was present at the birth of his daughter, who weighs 8 pounds 3 ounces (3.7 kg).

The palace added that the mother and baby are “doing well”.

The new baby is fourth-in-line to the throne, behind her grandfather Prince Charles, father Prince William and brother Prince George.

30-year-old married woman goes missing in Faridabad

A 30-year-old married woman has reportedly gone missing from here, police said today.

According to the complaint filed by the woman’s husband Sarvesh Kumar, a resident of Dheeraj Nagar, the woman left their home for some work on April 10 but did not return, they said.

The family alleged that the woman has been kidnapped, police said.

A case was registered under section 346 (wrongful confinement in secret) of IPC at Sector-31 police station in Faridabad yesterday, they said.

Police have started investigation in the case, ASI Mukesh Kumar said.

Congress demands special status for AP

Congress workers today staged a demonstration here seeking special status for Andhra Pradesh in accordance with the state reorganisation act.

SpaceX to test life-saving crew capsule next week

SpaceX is set to blast off a crew capsule on May 6 to test an astronaut rescue system designed to save lives in case of an emergency in a human spaceflight, NASA said.

“SpaceX is now targeting Wednesday, May 6, for a pad abort test of its Crew Dragon, a spacecraft under final development and certification through NASA’s Commercial Crew Programme (CCP),” the US space agency said.

The Dragon capsule with a dummy astronaut named Buster is slated to be blasted from a platform at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida after 7 a.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time), media reports said.

The curtailed trading session for Indian equities in the week ended Thursday saw a benchmark index end in the negative terrain for the third straight week — resulting in a loss of 10 percent since the record high it attained on March 4.

The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened slightly higher for the week at 27,565.49 points, against the previous close at 27,437.94 points. But it ended 426.63 points lower at 27,011.31 points, with a loss of 1.55 percent.
