Indian woman shot in the face, critical after attempted robbery in US

An Indian-origin Gujarati woman working at a gas station in the US state of South Carolina has been shot in the face and left critically injured in an attempted armed robbery.

Mradulaben Patel was the co-owner and clerk of a store at a gas station in Powdersville. Police have asked for help in identifying the man who believed to have shot Patel in the face Thursday night, Fox Carolina reported.
The report quoted Patel’s friend Dilip Shah as saying that she had surgery yesterday and the doctors are monitoring her. He said he could not make out the reason for the shooting.

16-year-old girl raped by cousins in Uttar Pradesh

A minor girl was allegedly abducted and raped by her two cousins in Balauni police station area here, police said on Saturday.

The 16-year-old girl in her complaint alleged that on the night of April 21, her cousins Arif and Shahzad abducted and raped her, Incharge of Balauni police station Dharmendra Panwar said.

The accused abducted her on the pretext of taking her to a marriage function which was being attended by her family members as well, he said.

Kate Middleton gives birth to baby girl!

Prince William`s wife Kate Middleton on Saturday gave birth to a baby girl, who will be fourth in line to the British throne, Kensington Palace said in a statement.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34 am,” the statement said. The official Twitter handle of the Royal Palace, Kensington posted the good news online.

Separate township for Pandits will build ‘wall of hatred’: Yasin

Reiterating his opposition to separate townships for the Kashmiri Pandits, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik on Saturday said that such a move would build a wall of hatred.

“A separate town will build a wall of hatred. We don’t want to leave behind such a legacy for our children,” Malik told ANI.

“We don’t want a separate colony (for Kashmiri Pandits), want to live together with Muslims; this is the voice of Sikhs, Christians here,” he added.

Temperature rises by 3 degrees across Telangana

The average maximum temperature has increased by three degrees Celsius in many parts of Telangana State.

The maximum temperature has touched 43 degrees in Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar districts. On Friday, the maximum temperature recorded in Nizamabad was 43 degrees. It was 42 degrees in Adilabad, Ramagundem, Nalgonda and Hanamkonda, 41 degrees in Hyderabad and Khammam and 40 degrees in Bhadrachalam and Medak. (INN)

Orbit ban: AAP demands action against company’s directors

With the Punjab Government ordering all Orbit buses off the roads over the Moga incident fallout, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday went a step ahead and demanded action against the company’s directors.

“The buses should be off the road, all their permits and the track-record of all staff must be checked. A case must be registered against the company’s directors,” AAP leader Bhagwant Mann told ANI.

He said the ban was a result of the people’s struggle, which forced the government to finally wake up from its slumber.

Bus operators to intensify protest against AP’s Border Tax

The Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) decided to intensify its protest against the imposition of Border Tax on contract carriage vehicles by Government of Andhra Pradesh.
