5 members of Muslim community trashed by unknown, protest turned voilent

Sixteen policemen and about 20 members of Tablighi Jamaat community were injured on Saturday when a protest by members of a particular community at Kandhla district turned violent following which a case has been registered naming, among others, a former nagar panchayat chairman.

According to police, members of the Tablighi Jamaat were protesting against the incident in which five members of their community were thrashed on Friday by some youths on board a Delhi-Kandhla train.

Digvijay has lost his credibility: BJP

Targetting Digvijay Singh over his allegations against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the MPPEB scam, state BJP today said the senior Congress leader has lost his credibility.

“By taking help of cyber expert Prashant Pandey, Congress leader Digvijay Singh accused Chouhan of allegedly being involved in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam,” state BJP president Nandkumar Singh Chouhan told reporters here.

Privatization of Sabeel-us-Salam school property case – Four accused sentenced 3-years imprisonment

VI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Nampally Criminal Court sentenced Syed Ismail, Mohammed Fareeduddin, Syed Waheeduddin and Mohammed Hassan – ul – Qasimi 3-years imprisonment to each. They were found guilty of transferring 46 acres of land belonging to Darul-uloom Sabeel-us-salam school as private property by forging the signatures of the members of the society. Mr. Syed Aizazur Rahman, founder President of Darul-uloom Sabeel-us-salam and Syed Ziaur Rahman had filed a criminal case in Nampally Court. Police Station Asif Nagar had also filed a charge sheet into 2007.

62-yr-old tutor accused of molesting 10-yr-old

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a 62-year-old Urdu tutor at his residence in outer Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy area, police said.

The accused, identified as one Raiz Ahmed (62), was arrested today after the victim’s family lodged a complaint.

Ahmed stayed at rented lodgings in the Metro Vihar area where he conducted Urdu classes in batches.

“The victim had joined his tuition classes in March. The incident came to light when she told her mother of her ordeal and they called up the police control room,” said a police official.

TDP to launch membership drive for national status

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today decided to expand its reach in neighbouring states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and also in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in order to establish it as a national party.

The decision was taken in a party’s Polit Bureau meeting chaired by TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in which it decided to launch membership drives in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which have a sizable population of people of Telugu origin.

Intermediate I year Advance Supplementary Exam fee date extended up to 4th May

According to a press note issued by Secretary, Board of Intermediate Education, Hyderabad, the last date payment of examination fee for intermediate first year advance supplementary examination has been extended up to 4th May. Principals of Junior Colleges may receive the fee up to 4th May and transmit it through E-Challan to the Board of Intermediate Education.

Minor cousins raped six-year-old girl

Two minor boys aged 14 years raped their six-year-old cousin who had come to her grandmother’s home at Bannerghatta, Bengaluru to spend summer vacation.

The girls is a resident of South-East Bengaluru. She and her 10-year-old brother were playing with the 14-year-old boys in front their grandmother’s house. The two boys took the girl to a isolated place nearby and raped her. This was reported by police.

Shiv Sena demands Geelani’s arrest

Shiv Sena today demanded the arrest of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and asked the state government to send him to Pakistan on exile.

Mumbai cop shoots senior, commits suicide

In a shocking incident, an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Mumbai Police shot dead a senior Police Inspector on Saturday at the Vakola Police Station, before killing himself.

Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, who visited the spot after the incident, said the senior Police Inspector remains in a serious condition.

“The senior Police Inspector’s condition is serious. His operator too was shot in the thigh, but he is out of danger. The ASI is no more,” said Maria.

Britain gets 2nd royal baby as Kate gives birth to girl

The wait for Prince William’s second baby was finally over as his wife Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, today gave birth to a baby girl.

The baby was “safely delivered” at 8:34 am local time (0734 GMT), Kensington Palace said in a statement.

William, the Duke of Cambridge, was present at the birth of his daughter, who weighs 8 pounds 3 ounces (3.7 kgs).

The palace added that the mother and baby are “doing well”.

Nigerian troops rescue 234 women, children

A group of 234 women and children were rescued by the Nigerian troops from the northeast Sambisa forest on Thursday, the military said on Saturday.

National military spokesperson Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade said in a statement on Saturday that those rescued had been evacuated to screening centres, Xinhua news agency reported.

The rescue of 234 women and children is the latest in the military’s effort. On April 28, up to 300 unidentified females were rescued by the troops in the restive Sambisa forest following an operation.

Flight with MH17 victims’ remains arrives in Netherlands

A Dutch military transport aircraft carrying human remains of victims of the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, which crashed with 298 people on board in eastern Ukraine last year, landed at Eindhoven Air Base in the Netherlands on Saturday.

Last Thursday Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg announced that the Dutch MH17 repatriation mission in eastern Ukraine has been finished in its current form, Xinhua news agency reported.

This means Saturday’s flight was probably the last flight with human remains to the Netherlands, although locals in eastern Ukraine might still find new human remains.

Priest arrested for raping woman for 5 years in Delhi

A priest has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 37-year-old married woman for the past five years in outer Delhi’s Rohini Sector 7 area, police said today.

The victim also alleged that the priest, identified as Rajesh Pandey, video-recorded the act the first time around five years ago and then repeatedly sexually assaulted her by threatening her of leaking the video clip.
