Four militants sentenced to 25 years in jail for attack on Malala Yousafzai

Four Pakistani Taliban militants were today sentenced to 25 years in jail by an anti-terrorism court for their role in the 2012 attack on Malala Yousafzai, the teenage child rights activist who last year won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants had claimed the responsibility of the attack on Malala in October 2012 as she was returning from her school in the Mingora town of Swat district.

Normal life affected by CITU vehicle strike in Tripura

Public vehicles remained off the roads in Tripura in support of the 24-hour nationwide strike called by the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU).

Claiming that Centre’s new bill on road safety would help the private operators take over public undertakings, the CITU declared a nationwide transport strike.

The operators of buses, trucks, autos and taxis attached to various unions and federations associated with CITU participated in the day-long strike here in protest against the Road Transport and Safety Bill, 2015.

Infant dies allegedly due to doctor’s negligence

An infant died due to alleged negligence of doctor. It is said that 22-days-old infant, S/O Mohammed Akram, R/O Prashant Nagar was circumcised on Tuesday. According to Langar Houz police the doctor allegedly overdosed the child. The child was taken home in the evening where his condition deteriorated and he died later. Langar Houz police registered a case and investigations are on.

Fire broke out in a godown at Jeedemetla

A major fire broke out at a rubber godown in Jeedimetla, around 5.15 pm on Wednesday evening, resulting in loss of property worth lakhs of rupees. Four fire tenders from Jeedimetla, Secunderabad, Kukatpally and Assembly were rushed to the spot and doused the flames after four hours of hard work.

Thick smoke billowed from the godown and it continued to erupt from the godown for about two hours.The cause and extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained, fire officials maintained

Pope Francis has added his voice to the feminist anthem of equal pay and has said that it’s “scandalous” that women earn less than men for the same job.

The Pope of the Catholic Church also lambasted the attitude of some who blame the crisis in families on women getting out of the house to work, Fox News reported.

The 78-year-old Pope asserted that husband and wife must be complementary and they should support with decisiveness the right to equal pay for equal work.

Saudi Arabia claims has arrested 93 IS members

Saudi Arabia’s interior ministry has reportedly said that it has arrested 93 people suspected of belonging to Islamic State (IS) and thwarted several plots.

The official Saudi Press Agency said that the arrests had been taking place since December and all but five of the suspects were Saudi nationals, reported the BBC.

It added that the terror group was operating training camps in a remote area of the Al Qassim region and had planned suicide attacks.

One of the alleged targets was the United States embassy in the capital of Riyadh .
