The body of a 50-year-old woman was found from her husband’s pyre, giving rise to suspicion that she performed ‘sati’, a banned practice in India, police said today. The incident happened in Latur district of Maharashtra.

Within hours of Tukaram’s funeral, his 50-year-old widow Usha went missing on Monday evening. When family members went to collect her husband Tukaram’s ashes on Tuesday, they found the woman’s burnt body in the pyre as well.

Researchers reveal how complex, massive stars are born

A new study has provided a deeper insight into the complex birth of the giant stars.

Moon’s first settlers may live in lava tubes

The first human settlers on the Moon may live inside giant lava tubes large enough to house cities, which were formed by ancient volcanic eruptions, new research suggests.

The volcanic features are an important target for future human space exploration because they could provide shelter from cosmic radiation, meteorite impacts and temperature extremes, researchers said.

Lava tubes are tunnels formed from the lava flow of volcanic eruptions. The edges of the lava cool as it flows to form a pipe-like crust around the flowing river of lava.

Milkman shot, defaced with stones in Kanpur

A 37-year-old milkman died after being shot in back by some unidentified persons who later smashed his face with stones and bricks in Chaubepur area here, police said today.

Rakesh was first shot in back and then was hit in face with stones and bricks yesterday probably to ensure he could not be identified, SP (rural) Surendra Tiwari said.

Police said that Rakesh had gone to deliver milk at a collection centre last evening, some 2km from his village but didn’t return home. His body was recovered today morning, he said.

Original Batman and Robin to reunite for new animated flick

Adam West and Burt Ward, who starred in the original Batman TV series in the 60s, are teaming up to voice characters in upcoming animated Batman flick.

Announcing the news at Mad Monster Con, Ward said that fans could look forward to the full-length 90-minute animated feature coming out on the 50th anniversary of the classic show, the Daily Star reported.

Google creates Pac-Man Easter egg letting users play arcade game on streets of Maps

Washington, April 01 (ANI): Google has created a new Pac-Man Easter egg on Google Maps on the April Fool’s Day which lets users play the classic arcade game on the streets of Google Maps.

According to TechCrunch, it is available on the desktop version of Google Maps or on Android and iOS mobile devices.

Users only have to open the app, activate the game and select a location where they want to play to start with the game.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday said that a total number of 350 Indian nationals, who have been evacuated from strife-torn Yemen’s Aden city to Djibouti, will be home tonight.

“Braving the weather with high spirits. Indian nationals evacuated from Aden now in Djibouti. Will be home tonight,” MEA official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted.

Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd.) V.K. Singh, who was in Djibouti to oversee the evacuation process, assured the evacuated people that they were safe now.

Kejriwal postpones public hearing for a fortnight

After two day of losses, gold prices recovered by Rs 200 to Rs 26,775 per ten grams at the bullion market today on emergence of buying by jewellers and retailers at existing lower levels amid a firm global trend.

ED attaches properties worth Rs 3 crore

Enforcement Directorate officials have attached immovable properties worth Rs 3 crore of three persons for cheating a private sector bank by not paying the Rs 28 crore loan they availed fraudulently.

Acting on a complaint from HSBC Bank, ED officials filed an FIR against G R Mohan of G R Enterprises, Joseph Premkumar and D Suresh Rao for entering into a criminal conspiracy and cheating the bank.

“The trio cheated the bank by availing letter of credit facilities fraudulently and non-repayment of loan to the tune of Rs 28 crore”, Enforcement Directorate said in a release here today.

Misao Okawa, who was named world’s oldest living person, has died from heart failure at the age of 117 in Japan.

Okawa died in a nursing home in Osaka, the city she was born in on 5 March 1898, the BBC reported.

Okawa, who died just week after her 117th birthday, was recognized in 2013 as the world’s oldest living person, as well as the world’s oldest living woman, by Guinness World Records .

While celebrating her birthday earlier in March, Ms Okawa said that 117 years did not seem such a long time.

White House: Iran nuke talks could continue beyond deadline
