Consumption of high-fat dairy foods linked to reduced risk of type 2 diabetes

People who eat high-fat dairy products face reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, says a new study.

Ulrika Ericson, who conducted the study, said that people who ate most high-fat dairy products had a 23 per cent lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those who ate the least. High meat consumption was linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes regardless of the fat content of the meat.

Pak military courts hand death penalty to 6 terrorists

Pakistani Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has confirmed in an ISPR statement that six hardened terrorists have been given death penalty post being tried by the recently established military courts.

The director general of military’s media wing, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, said that seven terrorists were tried by military courts established under the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Act, 2015, for their involvement in heinous offences related to terrorism, manslaughter, causing colossal damage to life and property, suicide bombing and abduction for ransom, reported the Dawn.

Kashmir floods: Residents fear their homes will fall apart

Anguished residents in the flood affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir have expressed fears about their homes falling apart because of the ongoing downpour.

“We are facing many problems because our home has been deluged with water for the past five days. Nobody is doing anything. We don’t have any other place to go and we are afraid of the house falling apart,” said a resident in Srinagar.

Man ends life
(Siasat News): A man in Chandrayangutta ended his life as he was very upset over his domestic problems. He was unemployed and his wife has been harassing her to leave her.

Jaani Miya of the same area was married some years ago but two years back he had lost his job as he was irregular and his employer had warned him in the past. As he did not mend his ways, he was fired.

Jaani Miya was very upset ever since and yesterday, he took the extreme step of ending his life.

THINKING BEGINS IN THE HEART

Two years back when I gave a brief presentation on this topic, it stirred quite a controversy among the listeners, who’d perhaps thought of the heart as no more than a mushy, bawling-over-love organ.

But after two years of studying Quran, Hadith, and Arabic, I stand my ground even more firmly: feeling generates thought. I don’t have much scientific support for this but the hadith and the verses from Quran speak for themselves. I do hope that someday, someone will make an extensive scientific research on this topic.

Dalit rape case: Panchayat orders “five jootas” to the rapist

Rapists don’t have much to be bothered about, if they are a resident of Bhagwanpur village of Haryana’s Yamuna Nagar district.

The reason is, panchayat in this district reportedly set free the accused for raping a Dalit girl after hitting him five strikes of the shoe and slapping a penalty of Rs 5,000 on him.

The incident took place on 25 march when 22- year old Kala, her neighbour allegdely raped the 19 year- old victim when she had gone to collect fodder from the field.

Jharkhand: SIT team to probe illegal land transfer case

Jharkhand government on Thursday set up a special investigation team (SIT) headed by retired IAS officer Debasish Gupta to probe illegal transfer of government and tribal land in the state.

The SIT would find out officials and others responsible in illegally transferring land covered under Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act that protects tribal land, an official release said here.

The SIT would recommend necessary legal and administrative actions against the guilty and make recommendations to stop such illegal transfers, the release said.

Terror attack in Kenya university campus “horrific”: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described as “horrific and utterly condemnable” the terror attack in a university campus in Kenya that left 70 students dead.

“Terror attack in Kenya is horrific. It is most distressing that a university campus was attacked in this manner. Utterly condemnable,” Modi tweeted.

At least 70 Kenyan students were massacred when Somalia’s Shebab Islamist group raided a university in the country’s deadliest attack since the US Embassy bombings in 1998.

Hindus will become the world’s third largest population by 2050, while India will overtake Indonesia as the country with the largest Muslim population, according to a new study.

According to the Pew Research Center’s religious profile predictions assessed data released today, the Hindu population is projected to rise by 34 per cent worldwide, from a little over 1 billion to nearly 1.4 billion by 2050.

India welcomes agreement over Iran’s nuclear programme

India on Friday welcomed the understanding reached between Iran and the six world powers on Tehran’s contentious nuclear programme and hoped that this would lead to a comprehensive agreement by June 30.

“A significant step seems to have been taken with agreement on the parameters of a comprehensive settlement to be negotiated by June 30,” External Affairs Ministry said in statement, welcoming the understanding announced in Lausanne between Iran and the P5+1 group on the nuclear issue.

Heavy downpour sweeps parts of Delhi

Cold winds and heavy rains lashed parts of the national capital on Friday, bringing the mercury down by several notches.

AP CM urges officials to achieve double digit growth rate

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday urged government officials to work towards achieving a double digit growth rate in the state.

Naidu, who held a meeting through video conference with district collectors and senior officials of different departments from here, told them that efforts should be made to overcome the state’s revenue deficit, an AP state government release quoted him as saying.

In addition to the Centre’s help to fill the revenue deficit, the AP state government should make its own efforts, the release state.

One Direction not looking for Zayn Malik’s replacement

One Direction will continue to perform as four-member band after the surprise departure of Zayn Malik from the group. The British boyband is not planning to find a replacement for Malik, reported TMZ.

Man arrested for harassing woman through social media

Police on Thursday arrested a man here for sending abusive messages to a 26-year-old woman and “maligning her character” through Facebook and WhatsApp.

The victim had lodged a complaint with police in February accusing Mohammed Abdul Kashif of harassing her by posting abusive or vulgar messages on Facebook and WhatsApp.

Kashif was arrested today. His questioning revealed that after befriending the woman, he tried to take advantage of her but was snubbed. The woman then started avoiding her, police said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation stone of the proposed Kodanda Rama Water scheme, to be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 33 crore at Ontimitta in Kadapa district on Thursday night.
