Policeman, two gangsters killed in Telangana gunfight

Two gangsters and a policeman were killed and two police officers were injured in a fierce gunfight in Telangana’s Nalgonda district on Saturday, police said.

Two days after the gangsters, suspected to be from Uttar Pradesh, gunned down two policemen and injured two others, police eliminated them in an encounter on Saturday morning near Janakipur village in Mothkur mandal of Nalgonda district, about 175 km from here.

The gunfight started when a police party engaged in combing operations came face to face with the gangsters.

John Slattery not comfortable with ‘sex symbol’ tag

Two killed in accident at GAIL’s LPG pipeline in Telangana

Two persons were killed in an accident at a LPG pipeline of state-owned gas utility GAIL India Ltd at Suryapet in Telangana.

The accident occurred when an instrumental ‘pig’, which is used to clean the pipeline, ejected out of the pipeline, killing the two persons standing at the mouth of the pipeline, an official said.

There was no fire or blast, he added.

One of the dead is a GAIL employee and the other is a worker of the contractor.

The two were not supposed to stand in front of the barrel of the pipeline during the pigging or cleaning operations, he said.

Two killed in GAIL gas pipeline leak in Telangana

At least two people were killed and three others got injured after a leak in Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) pipeline at Suryapet area of Telangana’s Nalgonda district on Saturday.

The incident took place when GAIL engineers were doing routine pipeline check at around 12 noon.

GAIL employees Roshan Tijare (manager) and V. Ramesh (technician) were killed on the spot.

Three other employees namely Balakrishna (manager) Narsimha (technician) and G. Venkat (technician) were injured in the incident.

Actors Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have scrapped their secret Lifetime movie after news of the project leaked online Wednesday night.

Chinese company allegedly makes shoe boxes bearing Indian national flag

A Chinese company has allegedly disgraced the Indian national flag by packing shoes in boxes bearing the tri-colour.

The incident came to light when a local newspaper reported the disgraceful act taking place in a shop in Kangra district.

Police swung immediately into action and arrested the shopkeeper. An investigation is underway.

Sarah Kemp Brady, who became an activist for gun control after her husband was shot in the head in the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, has died.

Brady, 73, died yesterday in a retirement community in Alexandria, Virginia, after battling pneumonia, family members said in an email.

Brady’s husband, former White House Press Secretary James Brady, died Aug 4, also at the age of 73.

The 1981 assassination attempt on Reagan by John Hinckley Jr left James Brady partially paralysed.

Egyptian army kills 40 militants in North Sinai

At least 40 militants have been killed in Egyptian army’s major ground and aerial offensive in the volatile North Sinai region, a day after 15 soldiers and two civilians died in separate attacks by Islamist militants.

The army launched ground and aerial offensives against terrorists’ hideouts in the south of Sheikh Zuweid, killing the militants, an official said.

Twenty militant headquarters and seven vehicles belonging to the terrorists were also destroyed in the offensive yesterday, the official said.
