IAF continues to provide relief to stranded persons in quake hit Nepal

Stepping up efforts to help Nepal which was struck by severe earthquakes, the Indian Air Force is providing relief to the people in distress across the country including remote and inaccessible areas.

Since April 25, the IAF has airlifted a total of 3193 persons, flying a total of 48 fixed wing sorties by C-17 Globemaster III, IL-76, C130J Super Hercules and AN-32 aircraft landing a total of 314.6 tonnes of relief material and equipment. 951 persons have been inducted for relief purposes into Nepal so far.

N-talks not solution to Iran’s economic problems: Khamenei

The remedy for Iran’s economic problems cannot come out of the ongoing negotiations over the country’s nuclear programme, but it requires domestic determination to deal with the issue, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said here on Wednesday.

“One cannot find solutions to economic problems outside of the country in Lausanne, Geneva and New York, but the real remedy for the problems is inside the country,” state-run IRNA news agency quoted Khamenei as saying.

Seven Persons Meet Watery Grave

Seven persons including three women lost their lives when they went to Charikonda Gowramma Cheruvu (tank) in Amangal Mandal of Mahabubnagar District for swimming and drowned. The incident took place Wednesday afternoon, and it was said that all the victims belonged to one family.

CPI Unhappy Over TS Govt’s Failure to Help the Tribal People

Communist Party of India (CPI) has expressed its unhappiness over the Telangana State Government’s failure to curb selling of children by Lambadi tribal people in Devarakonda constituency area in Nalgonda district.

CPI Floor leader and Devarakonda MLA R Ravindra Kumar today handed over a letter to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in this regard. He explained the plight of the Lambadi tribal people and their backwardness and their falling in loan net, and said that they were selling their children, particularly girl children, similar to goods selling in the market.

Modi govt pursuing anti-farmer policies in India: Cong

Chinese investment in Pakistan neither loan nor grant: Sharif

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today said that the billions of dollars being pumped-in by close ally China in Pakistan is not a loan or grant but an investment.

“The money being spent by China in Pakistan is not a loan or grant but an investment”, the state-run Radio Pakistan website quoted Sharif as saying.

Talking to reporters in London, before leaving for Islamabad, he said that China’s investment in Pakistan under a USD 46-billion 3,000 km-long economic corridor project covers construction of motorways and installation of energy projects.

Pak’s desire for good ties with India not reciprocated: Sharif

Pakistan’s “sincere” desire for good neighbourly ties with India have not been “reciprocated”, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said, ascribing the continuing deadlock in bilateral talks to a “frivolous” issue.

Sharif told the Saudi Gazette in an interview during a recent visit that he took an “exceptional decision” to accept an invitation to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oath- taking ceremony but India did not respond to his peace overtures.

Seven Cow dead in Goshala and dozens Critical by Food poison

Seven cows dead today in the Goshala of Kanaka Durga Temple at Vijayawada, while the condition of another dozen cows was critical.

According to information reaching the Capital, food poison was suspected to be the reason for this gruesome tragedy. It is said that representatives of one voluntary organization have provided food to the cows on Tuesday evening. Veterinary doctors were treating the cows that fell ill. (NSS)

YSRCP Leader Hacked to Death at Rapthadu

YSRCP leader and mandal party unit chief Bhumireddy Prasad Reddy was hacked to death in the premises of Rapthadu Tahsildar’s office in Anantapur district this morning.

According to information reaching the Capital, six armed assailants, alleged to be the supporters of the ruling TDP, were involved in the murder. Following the incident, tension prevailed in Rapthadu, as YSRCP activists staged protests. The party workers gathered in numbers to register their protest. Police forces have been deployed to bring the situation under control.

Fire Destroys Four Poultry Farms

Excise Staff Raid Illicit Liquor dens

In compliance to the instructions issued by Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise for conducting special drive for unearthing illicit distillation of liquor, massive raids have been conducted today in Gangabowli, Pahad, Chenne ki Batti, Shivlalnagar, Charminar and Malakpet areas in the city.

The Excise officials seized the I D Liquor/wash and black jaggery and arrested ten persons involved in illicit liquor manufacture. Prohibition and Excise Superintendents of Hyderabad District along with AES’s, all SHO’s have participated in the raids.(NSS)

Assembly panel to inspect Mission Kakatiya works in Warangal

The Estimates Committee of Telangana State Legislature has proposed reduction by 30 to 40 in the cost of tenders for Mission Kakatiya works.

According to sources, the Committee has reviewed various works pertaining to Mission Kakatiya, the flagship programme of State Government. Motor vehicles insurance awareness campaign in Cyberabad

The Insurance Information Bureau of India (IIB) in association with the Cyberabad police launched a motor vehicles insurance awareness campaign at a function here today, it was officially announced.

The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate and the IIB have identified uninsured vehicles within the Cyberabad Metropolitan Police jurisdiction, an official release said.

Israel to help ‘reduce’ farmer suicides: Maharashtra CM

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said senior Israeli leader Shimon Peres has agreed to mobilise the country’s technology to help ‘reduce’ suicides by farmers in the western Indian state.

Fadnavis made the announcement in a tweet after meeting the 92-year-old two-time prime minister and former president on Wednesday afternoon during his trip to Israel.

The chief minister raised the issue of farmers’ suicides afflicting Maharashtra, particularly in Yavatmal and Osmanabad districts, with the senior Israeli leader at the Peres Centre for Peace in Tel Aviv.

‘One Stop Centres’ for women facing physical violence

The government will establish ‘One Stop Centres’ (OSC) aimed at providing legal, medical and psychological support to women facing physical violence.

The money for the centrally-sponsored scheme would come from the ‘Nirbhaya Fund’, a statement said here on Wednesday.

These centres will be established across the country to provide integrated support and assistance under one roof to women facing physical violence, both in private and public areas in a phased manner.
