Troops allied to Houthis in Yemen rebel

Yemeni security forces in the city of Taiz that have allied themselves with the Shia Houthi militia and supporters of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, have rebelled, media reported on Sunday.

Members of the military police in Taiz — Yemen’s third largest city — refused to head to Aden, where the country’s President Abd-Rabbuh Mansour Hadi has been holding court since the Houthi takeover of capital Sanaa earlier this year, according to an Al Arabiya News report.

Around 500 Pakistanis return home from strife-torn Yemen

Around 500 Pakistanis stranded in the conflict-ridden Yemen arrived home on board a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane on Sunday night, according to media reports.

Families of the passengers on board the PIA special flight reached the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi to receive their loved ones, reported Geo News.

The flight landed at around 11.30 p.m. and will transport several passengers to Islamabad early on Monday morning where Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pervaiz Rashid, will welcome them.

DNA tests done on remains of 78 Germanwings crash victims

French investigators said on Sunday that they have performed DNA tests on the remains of 78 out of the 150 victims of the Germanwings air crash on March 24.

The names of the victims, whose remains were tested, have not yet been released, since for that, it will be necessary to crosscheck the results obtained with the DNA samples provided by the victims’ relatives.

The collection of remains continued with about 50 helicopter flights over the crash site and about 50 people combing the area for body parts, the victims’ possessions and pieces of the plane’s debris.

Will destroy all Houthi missiles within days: Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia said on Sunday that all ballistic missiles of Yemen’s Houthi rebels will be destroyed in the coming days, Xinhua reported citing Al Arabiya News.

Warplanes of the Saudi-led 10-state coalition raided Yemen’s capital Sanaa on Sunday, as the “Decisive Storm” military operation in Yemen against the Shia Houthi group entered the fourth day.

The Saudi-led coalition continued targeting Houthi missile arsenal, according to the spokesperson of the military operation in Yemen, Ahmed Al-Asiri.

President of the Badminton Association of India, Akhilesh Das on Sunday announced a reward of ten lakh rupees for ace shuttler Saina Nehwal on winning the women’s singles in India Open Super Series Badminton tournament.

2 killed in different cases of Road Accident

A 61-year-old man succumbed to the injuries which he suffered after he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road.

According to Medipally police, the victim, A Vishnuvardhan Reddy, met with the accident on March 27 near Uppal Depot. He was admitted to Gandhi Hospital where he died on Sunday. He was a retired employee of RTC and resident of Sriram Nagar.

59yr old Man killed in train accident

A 59-year-old man died on the spot after he was hit by a train while he was crossing the railway tracks.

The incident happened on railway tracks between Kachiguda and Malakpet stations on Saturday evening. The Kachiguda Railway Police later identified the deceased as Md Ateequllah, a resident of Jalpally near Pahadishareef. (INN)

Five persons commit suicides

Financial problems drove one more contract employee of GHMC to suicide.

According to Kulsumpura police, Satish Kumar, 32, who had consumed poison on March 23, died at the Osmania General Hospital on Sunday. He was a resident of Jiyaguda and was working as GHMC contract employee.

In a similar case, 48-year-old S Balaiah committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling at his residence in Jairam Nagar on Saturday night. He was facing financial problems which are suspected to have driven him to suicide, according to Pet Basheerabad police.

10 Telangana MLCs retire

As many as 10 MLCs, including Leader of the Opposition D Srinivas, retired on Sunday following the end of their six-year term.

A total of seven MLCs, who were elected under MLAs quota, retired today. They include D Srinivas, Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed, KR Amos, K Yadav Reddy and S Rajalingam of Congress and B Laxminarayana and B Venkateshwarulu of TDP. However, except for Srinivas and Shabbir Ahmed, remaining five MLCs had joined the TRS a few months ago.

Junior cine artiste Hema has alleged that Movie Artistes’ Association (MAA) presidential candidate Rajendra Prasad panel member and actor Shivaji Raja scolded her personally.

Three held for cricket betting at KPHB

Hyderabad City police today arrested cricket betters at KPHB Colony on the occasion of final match between Australia and Newzealand at Melbourne stadium.

KCR has aerial survey of projects in Warangal; Returns home

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao today wound up his two-day tour of Warangal and Khammam districts and returned home.

The Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of Kanthanapally and Devadula projects and took first hand information. The Chief Minister reportedly cancelled his Kaleshwaram tour before getting back to the State capital. At Kanthanapally project, the Chief Minister gone through the map of the project and held review meeting for an hour. KCR directed the officials to ensure timely succor to the victims to be displaced.

Krishnaiah seeks income limit hike Rs 2 lakh, KCR

BC Welfare Association President R Krishnaiah today demanded that Telangana State Government should hike income limit for students of BC and EBC on the lines of food security cards. He asked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here to increase the income limit to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1 lakh. Since the existing income limit is not apt to the present conditions, the government should consider his demand, he said. He also expressed concern that the revenue officials are reluctant to issue income certificates with lower income amounts.

New MLCs to take oath today

Newly elected Graduate constituencies’ MLCs will take oath of office in Telangana Legislature Council hall on March 30 at 11 am.

According to the information, Council Chairman Swamy Goud will administer the oath of office to the new MLCs, including N. TS grants Rs 25 lakh to housewife for heart transplant

The TRS Government today granted Rs 25 lakh towards heart transplantation surgery for a woman Padma of Kothagudem of Khammam district.
