Government releases amount for pre-matric scholarships in Telangana

Telangana government has released a budget of ₹ 48,02,96,000 for pre-matric scholarships to minority students. Besides this ₹1.48 Cr. will be released as assistance to Minority Finance Corporation.

Special Secretary Minority Welfare Telangana issued orders in this connection. ₹ 48 Cr. was sanctioned for pre-matric scholarship to minority students under central government scheme. Students who applied fresh and also those who applied for renewal will be paid scholarship.

`50 Shades` screening shelved after drunken woman loses control of bodily fluids

A drunken woman in Milton Keynes, England recently forced an entire movie theater to be evacuated during ’50 Shades Of Grey’ showing after she reportedly lost control of all of her bodily fluids.

The Cineworld showing had barely got underway when the unnamed women, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, started vomiting and pooping, the Mirror reported.

One disgruntled cinema-goer said that they all expected to see Christian Grey gag Anastasia as part of the plot, but they certainly didn’t expect to be gagging themselves because of the stench.

NASA administrator pays tribute to ‘Star Trek’ actor Leonard Nimoy

NASA administrator, Charles Bolden , paid a touching tribute to ‘Star Trek’ actor Leonard Nimoy, who recently died after suffering lung disease.

Bolden issued a statement which mentioned that Nimoy, who was known for his role as Spock in the original Star Trek series (1966-69), was an inspiration to multiple generations of engineers, scientists, astronauts, and other space explorers and as Mr. Spock, he made science and technology important to the story, while never failing to show.

UN condemns IS’ acts of ‘cultural cleansing’, smashing of statues as war crime

The “cultural cleaning” by IS militants in Iraq that include destruction of artefacts and smashing of statues in a museum is a war crime, said the head of the United Nations agency for culture, Unesco.

According to BBC, Irina Bokova said that the video posted by IS militants showing smashing of statues in Mosul was “a real shock” and called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

‘Ensure women’s place in economy; change patriarchal mindset’

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 56.85 points or 0.64 percent up at 8,901.45 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 29,411.33 points, was trading at 29,433.83 points (at 9.15 a.m.) in the early session, up 213.71 points or 0.73 percent from the previous day`s close at 29,220.12 points.

Afghan President to make first US visit next month

US President Barack Obama will meet new Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah here on March 24, the White House said today.

This would be the first US visit of the new Afghan President after taking over from his predecessor Hamid Karzai last year.

Obama will host Ghani, Abdullah, and key members of their unity government for meetings and a working lunch at the White House.

Cuba sees progress in normalisation talks with US

Cuba said progress had been made in the second round of talks aimed at restoring long severed diplomatic ties with the United States, but cautioned that differences remained.

In a historic press conference in the State Department – the heart of US global diplomacy – the head of the Cuban delegation, Josefina Vidal, renewed a call for Havana to be removed from the US blacklist of state sponsors of terrorism.

“We made progress in our discussions,” Vidal said yesterday after meeting with a US delegation led by the top US diplomat for Latin America, Roberta Jacobson.
