Delhi vote this week will be two-horse race

After a 49-day AAP government and President’s rule for nearly a year, Delhi will vote later this week to elect a new administration whose control has virtually become a two-horse contest between the BJP and the AAP.

The Congress, which governed Delhi for 15 years and whose tally tumbled from 43 seats to 8 in the 2013 assembly polls, has arguably been out of the running for the 70 assembly seats since the beginning of the poll campaign. A total of 673 candidates from various political parties are in the fray for the Feb 7 (Saturday) polls. The results will be out Feb 10.

In a letter to Modi, Badal said the “genocide” of Sikhs was a “pre-planned” incident at the behest of Congress leaders.

JNTU disaffiliates 803 B.Tech, 7 B.Pharmacy courses

In a major blow to private engineering and pharmacy colleges in Telangana, The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad on Saturday disaffiliated 807 BTech courses of the 143 engineering colleges for 2014-2015 academic years.

Similarly, out of the eight B Pharmacy programmes offered in integrated campuses, seven programmes have been disaffiliated for 2014-2015 academic year. The courses were disaffiliated by the University failing to meet essential requirements like qualified faculty and adequate infrastructure.

Toyota becomes world’s biggest selling carmaker for 2014

Toyota has become the biggest selling carmaker in the world for 2014 with a sale of 10.23 million vehicles around the globe.

According to Stuff.co.in, Volkswagen was ranked second with 10.14 million units sold in 2014.

General Motors that has held the first position for decades occupied the third place with 9.92 million sales in 2014.

It is likely that Volkswagen occupies top spot this year. However, the German maker has no new product coming up for the U.S. until its new seven-passenger SUV arrives in 2017. (ANI)

Dropcam CEO leaves Google’s Nest, VP joins Twitter

Vice President of technology of Google’s Nest Yoky Matsuoka and dropcam co-founder Greg Duffy have left the company and Matsuoka joined Twitter.

Matsuoka was previously the head of innovation at Google, as well as a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Washington, reported the Verge.

Duffy joined Nest when Dropcam was acquired for 555 million dollars last year in June.

It is not yet clear what Matsuoka’s role at Twitter will be. (ANI)

IS executes second Japanese hostage
