PM will not take suggestions as he is ‘allergic’ to me: Hazare

Social activist Anna Hazare, who is spearheading agitation against the Land Acquisition Bill, today said Prime Minister will not accept his suggestions on the issue as Narendra Modi is “allergic” to him.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not accept my suggestions on the Land Acquisition Bill as during the Lok Sabha elections, I had called Modi and Rahul Gandhi pro-industrialists. This statement has made them allergic to me,” he told reporters here.

The government is pro-industrialists and it wants to forcefully acquire land owned by the farmers, Hazare said.

‘SMS Alert’ service for Trains timings

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has said it is proposed to introduce an “SMS Alert” service to inform passengers in advance the updated arrival/departure time of trains at starting or destination stations. Similarly SMS alert would be sent 15/30 minutes in advance of arrival of the train at the destination.

‘Operation Five Minutes’ to ensure speedy purchase of tickets

The Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has said that he has not increased the passenger fares in the Railway Budget 2015-16. Presenting the Railway Budget in Parliament today he said, Government is directing its efforts to make travel on Indian Railways a happy experience. The Minister said, one of the biggest problems faced by the common man intending to travel in unreserved class is purchasing a ticket. He said, the Railways is introducing ‘Operation Five Minutes’ to ensure that a passenger travelling unreserved can purchase a ticket within five minutes.

Class I girl dies after fight with classmates

A six-year-old girl died and her elder sister was critically injured in a fight with two classmates of a government-run primary school in East Champaran district, the police said.

The fight broke out over the issue of sitting in the classroom of the school in Rampur Tola, Deputy Superintendent of Police Umeshwar Chaudhary told PTI from the school where he had gone to record statements.

According to preliminary information, two class I girls beat up their classmate Sita Kumari on Tuesday following a quarrel over sitting on the sack.

Petroleum Board officials call on AP CS

The officials and members of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao at the AP Secretariat here on Thursday.

PNGRB Chairperson S Krishnan has requested the Chief Secretary to extend co-operation for conducting of a Regional Conference with the State Government to discuss on various natural calamities and disaster management. PNGRB would like to conduct the Conference tentatively in the month of May 2015 at Visakhapatnam and they have also requested the Chief Secretary to designate a Nodal Officer for this conference.

Mytrah signs 220 MW wind power agreement with AP Govt

The Mytrah Energy Ltd, one of the largest independent wind energy producing companies in the country, bagged a 220 MW wind power project from the Government of Andhra Pradesh at RE-Invest 2015.

The project will be installed in Kurnool district and is expected to be commissioned in 18 months. The deal was signed at RE-Invest – India’s first renewable energy global investors meet in step with the Modi government’s “Make in India” initiative.

Cyberabad Police quizzes Ola Cabs over safety concerns

Following complaints received from the regular cab operators, the Cyberabad Police on Thursday called the managers of Ola Cabs and sought details on the safety and security measures.

According to sources, Cyberabad DCP (Traffic) Avinash Mohanty called Ola Cabs authorities and asked them to furnish complete details on their working module and steps being taken to ensure safety of passengers.

Swine flu: 16 Officer Trainees discharged from hospital

As many as 16 Officer Trainees of National Police Academy, who were affected with the Swine flu, have all been treated and discharged.

The officer trainees are now back in the National Police Academy. However, five more Officer Trainees are undergoing treatment in private hospitals in Hyderabad and are said to be stable. (INN)

GHMC chief inspects civic problems in Nagole

GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar visited Mamatha Nagar and Venkatramana Colony at Nagole here on Thursday.

The Special Officer interacted with residents on their grievances pertaining to street lights, drainage, sanitation and various civic related issues. Responding to their complaints, he directed the officials to provide the street lights wherever necessary and also to take up the works pertaining to sanitation, storm water drain and other issues on priority.

KCR reviews power situation

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has reviewed the power situation with Principal Secretary Energy Aravind Kumar and Telangana GENCO Chairman D Prabhakar Rao at the Secretariat here on Thursday morning.

The officers told the Chief Minister that they are buying 4 to 5 Million Units (MU) from power exchange daily to overcome the deficiency of about 800 MW.

TMC raises issue of CBI clean chit to Amit Shah

TMC, which is under attack over the Saradha chit fund scam, today raked up in Lok Sabha the clean chit given to BJP chief Amit Shah in cases probed by CBI, inviting sharp reactions from treasury benches.

TMC member Kalyan Banerjee in the Lok Sabha contended that CBI had said earlier that it had material against Shah but it changed tune after BJP came to power.

“After election, CBI says it (material) is not there,” he said while participating in debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address.

Freight hike won’t affect prices of essential items: Prabhu

Defending the hike in freight rates that would rake in Rs 4,000 crore more, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today said it would have minimal impact on the transportation of commodities and would not affect the prices of essential items like foodgrains, fertilisers and urea.

At a post-budget briefing, Railway Board Chairman AK Mital said there would be a marginal 3 per cent increase in freight rates on an average due to freight rationalisation and it would have no effect on the prices of essential commodities.

Moin escapes angry protesters at airport on his return

Pakistan’s chief selector Moin Khan returned home from Australia today and escaped an embarrassing situation at the airport where a small group of protesters had gathered to vent their anger with eggs and banners.

Recalled from Australia by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for visiting a Casino in Christchurch a night before the match against the West Indies, Moin slipped out of the Karachi international airport terminal building with a friend sans any baggage and drove away hurriedly.

Raj ex-minister Kataria discharged in Sohrabuddin case

A special CBI court today discharged senior BJP leader and Rajasthan’s former Home Minister Gulabchand Kataria and marble trader Vimal Patni from the Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter killing cases, citing “insufficient” evidence.

“There is no sufficient ground to proceed against the accused,” special CBI judge MB Gosavi said as he discharged the two from the case.

Kataria is the second top politician after BJP president Amit Shah who had been charge-sheeted in the two cases but will not stand trial after relief from the court.

Plan for bullet train in the works: Manoj Sinha

Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that the government is seriously considering a plan for the introduction of bullet trains in India.

“The plan for a bullet train is in the works, but is not something that can be achieved in just a year. The act of doubling is taking us around three years, so the process of creating a high speed corridor and to ply bullet trains on it will be course of action that will take many years,” Sinha told ANI.
