The new capital of Andhra Pradesh being developed near here will be world-class, a cynosure of all eyes and a model for the entire country, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said Monday.

Speaking at the Republic Day parade here, he said the state government has decided to build a world-class capital. “I am confident this will be cynosure of all eyes and a model for the entire country and perhaps one of the best on the planet.”

The classified wartime papers that were recently unearthed have revealed that Dutch farmers working for Adolf Hitler had built secret Nazi aerodromes in Norfolk to invade England from the sky.

Police and MI5 failed to work out the farmers were creating a network of airstrips, to fly in German stormtroopers, across 2,000 acres of farmland for four years from 1936, the Mirror reported.

This was despite enemy spies flattening fields to use as runways, creating hangar-shaped Dutch barns and even laying out chicken huts in the shape of swastikas.

“The Padma Vibhushan to Amitabh Bachchan is not enough. He is a legend in his lifetime. He deserves a Bharat Ratna,” Banerjee said on her official Facebook and Twitter handle.

Bachchan, along with legendary actor Dilip Kumar, was Sunday named for the Padma Vibhushan honour on the eve of India’s 66th Republic Day.

Two Pak planes searched thoroughly in London

Two planes belonging to national carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) were today searched thoroughly by British authorities as the flights landed in London.

Customs and immigration authorities searched the two PIA planes without disclosing details regarding the reason for the search.

Passengers and flight crew were thoroughly searched along with luggage after flights PK 785 from Islamabad and PK 787 from Karachi landed in London.

Aircraft equipment was also searched by custom authorities, with the raid lasting approximately one hour.

12 killed as train rams into vehicle at unmanned crossing

Twelve members of a family, including four children, were killed and three others injured when the vehicle they were travelling in was hit by Dhuri-Sirsa passenger train at an unmanned rail crossing in Sarsod village of Hisar today amid dense fog.

The driver of the transport vehicle was among those killed, SHO, Government Railway Police, Hisar, Bhim Sein said.

He said the train from Dhuri in Punjab was headed to Sirsa in Haryana when the accident occurred near village Sarsod, about 30 km from here.

Obama, Modi to address US-India CEO Forum today

Visiting US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will jointly address the India-US CEO Forum meeting in New Delhi this evening.

Trade and economic issues, including visa, and impediments hampering investments, are likely to figure in their respective addresses.

Narendra Singh painted a portrait of Obama with Indian and United States flags at the backdrop with a message reading, ‘All Indians salute you’.

“I have painted Obama’s portrait with Indian and U.S flags in its backdrop. I believe meeting between leaders of both the countries is significant, which will send a good message across the world,” Singh said.
