Ahead of the Budget, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today underlined the need for tax reforms and quick decision making to ensure stability in policy regime.

The Minister also asked the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) officials to maintain certain level of civility with assessees but to take to task the evaders and avoiders.

Shaheed Feroz Khan’s widow presented Sena Gallantry Award

Martyr Lance Naik Mohammed Feroz Khan sacrificed his life while guarding the country one and a half years ago. His martyrdom is an honour for the entire country especially for Hyderabad. In recognition of his services the central government and the army invited Martyr Lance Naik Feroz Khan’s widow to Delhi on January 15 to collect the Sena Gallantry Award (posthumous) conferred on Shaheed Feroz Khan on the occasion of Army Day. The whole journey was arranged by the army.

Missing man’s dead body found
(Siasat News): A man who was mysteriously missing from Chikadpally, found dead. Police sources said that the deceased Sheikh Mansoor, 40, was an auto driver.

He went missing since January 19; He had told his family members that he was going to his native place. However, his dead body was found from Baghlingampally.

Chikadpally police has registered a case and further investigations are on.

Stomach hormone that increases ‘sex drive’ found

According to a new Swedish study, an appetite hormone released from the stomach has been shown to increase sexual drive in mice.

Researchers at the Sahlgrenska Academy showed that when mice receive a supplement of ghrelin, they increase their sexual activity and their efforts to find a partner. The effect is confirmed in a follow-up experiment, where mice that received a ghrelin inhibitor instead decreased their sexual activity.

Mexico claims ’43 missing students’ killed, burnt by criminal gang

Mexico’s Attorney General has reportedly claimed that all the 43 students, who disappeared in the southern state of Guerrero in September, have been killed by a criminal gang and their bodies have been burnt in a rubbish dump.

Jesus Murillo Karam said that his team had interviewed 99 people including, members of the gang, who he alleged killed the students, and had 39 confessions from police and criminal gang members. He said he could prove his statement, reported the BBC.

Only four Muslims make it to Padma awards

When the list of Padma awards unveiled by Home Ministry, a day before the Ceremony of Republic Day, it came as shock that only four Muslim names are to be honored with country’s highest civilian awards.

There is a drop in the number of Muslim awardees compared to the previous year’s stats. In 2014, seven Muslims were honoured with Padma awards, six in the year 2013 and eight Muslims in 2012.

Boys and girls who have a troubled childhood are more likely to begin having sex before the age of 16, says a research.

The study also found that boys — but not girls — who are socially anxious or withdrawn also tended to have sex at a younger age.

The long-term study of nearly 2,900 Australian children focused on the kids’ self-reported sexual decisions.

The team found that by the age of 17, about 45 percent of the boys and 51 percent of the girls already had experienced sexual intercourse.

25 taken ill after consuming food at wedding in Muzaffarnagar

At least 25 people were taken ill due to suspected food poisoning during a wedding feast in Ratanpuri village here.

The incident occurred yesterday when the victims consumed ‘gajar ka halwa’ at a wedding function organised by Kan Singh, police said today.

They later complained of headache, vomiting and stomach cramps following which they were rushed to a hospital.

Samples of the food consumed at the function have been collected for investigation, police said.

Broad apologises for England ‘minimum wage’ tweet

England Twenty20 cricket team captain Stuart Broad has apologised for his British ‘minimum wage’ post on Twitter.

The right-arm fast-medium bowler had tweeted that he has heard if one earns minimum wage in England they are in the top 10 percent earners in the world, adding ‘#stay #humble’ to his tweet.

Broad, who is in Australia on England duty, deleted the message after angry replies from some Twitter users and then posted his apologies on the social networking site, the BBC reported.

EU seeks new wave of sanctions against Russia amid fierce clashes in eastern Ukraine

European Union ( EU) leaders have reportedly implored their foreign ministers to respond to the ongoing fighting in Ukraine and consider imposing a new wave of sanctions on Russia.

A statement released by the leaders asked the ministers, who are scheduled to meet on Thursday, to “consider any appropriate action, in particular on further restrictive measures,” reported the BBC.

It asked Russia to meet the terms of last September’s Minsk ceasefire deal , which has been ignored amid heavy shelling by both Ukrainian troops and pro- Russia separatists.

The first look of much awaited neo-noir drama “Bombay Velvet”, which features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, will be unveiled Thursday.

Swine Flu: 70 fresh cases registered

With temperatures remaining low across the country, Delhi, Haryana and Telangana have registered around 70 more cases of swine flu.

So far, 33 casualties have been reported in total.

In Delhi, 26 fresh cases of swine flu were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number infected by the H1N1 virus in the national capital to 285 so far this year.

In Haryana, 41 cases of swine flu have been registered, out of which seven causalities have been reported.

Actor Mala Aravindan is Dead

Malayalam film industry’s popular comedian Mala Aravindan, who acted in close to 400 films in the last 37 years, died Tuesday morning, his family said. He was 76.

He suffered a cardiac arrest Jan 19 and was hospitalised. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Coimbatore.

A noted theatre personality, Aravindan acted in his first film in 1968. Since then he has been an integral part of the film industry in the state, working in popular films such as “Meesha Madhavan”, “Tharavu”, “Patalam”, and “Thadavara”.
