Lindsay Lohan’s father welcomes son

Actress Lindsy Lohan’s father Michael Lohan and his new wife, Kate Major, became parents to a baby boy just in time for the new year.

The newborn named Logan Michael Lohan, is Michael and Kate’s second child. He was born on Wednesday, reported Us Weekly.

“Kate and I are ecstatic. A bit late for Christmas but the best gift imaginable,” Michael, 54, said.

“What a way to bring in the new year! God has blessed me with the best children a father could ever ask for – but I am done!”

The couple, who wed in Florida in October, have one son together, Landon, who was born in January 2013.

Six engineering students killed in Kerala road mishap

Tragedy struck as six engineering students returning after New Year revelry were killed when their car and an LPG tanker collided in the wee hours of the day at nearby Chathannur.

According to police, the victims, all men in third year of B.Tech, were heading to their campus after the New Year celebrations at the beach resort Varkala in neighbouring Thiruvananthapuram District.

All of the six, who died on the spot, were students of a private engineering college here.

Clear day ahead, temperature at 8.8 deg C

Delhiites today woke up to a pleasant morning on New Year, with the temperature at 8.8 degrees Celsius, and it is expected to be a clear day.

Fishermen clash, hurl country bombs in coastal village

Two groups of fishermen attacked each other with country bombs in Koothankuli village near Kudankulam in the district, police said today.

However, none was injured in the clash last night in which two groups of fishermen of the same community hurled country bombs, leading to tension in the village.

Police said six blasts were heard as “powerful country bombs” were hurled, people in the area had to spend sleepless nights.

The reason for the sudden eruption of violence was not known, police said adding so far no arrests had been made.

Hyundai’s December sales up 21% at 59,365 units

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today reported 21 per cent jump in total sales at 59,365 units in December 2014.

The company had sold 49,078 units in the same month last year, it said in a statement.

In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 32,504 units last month as compared to 28,345 units in December 2013, up 14.7 per cent.

During the month, Hyundai’s exports increased 29.6 per cent to 26,861 units as against 20,733 units in the same period last year.

Silver prices rise by Rs 255 a kg in futures

Silver prices rose by Rs 255 to Rs 36,145 per kg in futures trade today after speculators built-up positions even as metal weakened overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March rose by Rs 255, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 36,145 per kg in business turnover of 774 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in far-month May traded higher by Rs 100, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 36,804 per kg in 14 lots.

Killer husband arrested
(Siasat News): Kalepathar police has arrested a man who had killed his wife. It is said that the accused Mohd. Ali alias Azam strangulated his wife Shabana Begum, 28, to death last night. Police sources said that it was Shabana’s second wife after she got divorce from her first husband.

Azam has been working in china Bazar and Shabana was a beautician. Last night Azam strangulated Shabana to death and was sitting near her dead body till he confirmed that she was dead.

Leopard found dead in Baghpat

An adult leopard was found dead in the jungle of Hisabada village here, a forest official said today.

The carcass was recovered yesterday evening, District Forest Officer Manish Mittal said.

He, however, ruled out poaching and said the body has been sent for post-mortem.

Planning Commission renamed as ‘Neeti Ayog’

The Planning Commission, which was established in 1950, will be called ‘Neeti Ayog’ in its new avatar, months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that it will replaced by a new body.

The decision comes nearly three weeks after Modi held consultations with chief ministers at a meeting where most favoured restructuring of the Socialist-era body but some Congress Chief Ministers opposed disbanding of the existing set-up.

Searchers return to retrieve bodies, plane wreckage

After being hampered by a spell of bad weather, searchers today returned with “full force” to retrieve bodies and the AirAsia plane wreckage in the Java Sea off Indonesia as the mystery over the reasons for the crash remained.

“The visibility is good this morning, we are ready to fight with full force to search for bodies, wreckages that can reveal what went wrong with this accident,” Indonesia’s First Marshal Agus Dwi Putranto said.

Four aircraft were dispatched to the area just after sunrise, reports said.

Awami League counters two-day strike call of Jamaat-e-Islami

Supporters of Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League poured onto the streets here on Wednesday to defy a two-day strike called by Jamaat-e-Islami party, which was protesting against the death sentence given to one of its leaders by the war crimes tribunal.

Police pickets were set up across the streets of Dhaka during the strike. However, people and supporters of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League held marches, shouted slogans against former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and her Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for having allied with the Jamaat.

Government to Monitor Toilet Use With iPads, Mobile Phones

The government will monitor from today whether people across the country are using toilets, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Clean India” mission.

Using iPads, tablets and mobile phones, officials will report to the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation on whether toilets are being used.

The nationwide “real-time monitoring” of toilets is vital to PM Modi’s call to end open defecation in India by 2019, an official release said.

CIA admits its spy planes behind half of all UFO sightings during 1950s-60s

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has recently taken responsibility for at least half of all UFO sightings between 1950s-60s, it has been reported.

A previously confidential CIA document has revealed that most of the sightings were actually U-2 spy planes, News.com.au reported.

The report, ‘The CIA and the U-2 Program, 1954-1974’, written by Gregory Pedlow and Donald Welzenbach, outlines the CIA’s involvement in the development of the U-2 spy plane. It explains how the testing of the planes led to a massive increase in UFO reports.

Planning Commission renamed ‘Niti Aayog’

Following up on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day announcement that the Planning Commission would be replaced, the government, Thursday, renamed the plan panel as ‘Niti Aayog’.

The renaming of the Planning Commission is being seen as the first step towards replacing it with a new-age institution.

The Prime Minister had called meeting of all chief ministers recently to deliberate on the structure of the new body which would replace the Commission.

The majority view that emerged after the meeting was in favour of decentralisation of power.

Sensex begins New Year on a weak note, falls by 83 points

Stock markets opened on a subdued note on the first trading day of 2015 with the benchmark BSE Sensex falling by over 83 points in early trade on profit booking after recent gains.

The 30-share index which had gained 290.81 points in previous four straight sessions, fell 83.84 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 27,415.58 in early trade today.

Stocks of banking, oil & gas, metal, FMCG and power sector led the fall.
HDFC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Infosys, NTPC and Coal India fell up to 1.03 per cent in early trade.

Lindsay Lohan’s father Michael Lohan has welcomed his second child with wife Kate Major, it has been confirmed.

The baby boy arrived at 11:16 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, weighing in at 6 lbs., 14 oz, and has been named Logan Michael Lohan, Us Magazine reported.

The 54-year-old TV personality told the publication in a statement that his wife Major and he are ecstatic and it was bit late for Christmas but it is the best gift imaginable.

Chocolate with raisins

Ingredients:

We need about 200-300 gms of raisins
200 gms of dark sweetened chocolate (or simple chocolate bar can also do)

Method:

Start with boiling water in a pan. Now, put the chocolate bar in a glass bowl and place it over the heated pan. You will see the chocolate bar melting.

After that, add the raisins to it and spread the mixture in a large platter. Let it refrigerate for some time. Take it out, once set. Your dish is ready to be served.
