Many villages and towns besides the twin cities have been suddenly besieged “masked people” of late. No they are not members of any criminal gang planning to commit a robbery but ordinary people trying to protect themselves from the deadly Swine Flu virus. !!!.
As the Swine Flu began to steadily grow into an epidemic what with reports of increasing number of patients rushing to hospitals and also the reported deaths of some of the affected persons, has set the alarm bells ringing among the people not only in the twin cities but also in adjoining villages and towns.

Minor raped by step-father in Delhi

A 10-year-old girl was raped by her step-father at her home here, police said Thursday. The accused has been arrested.

Police said the complaint was lodged at Timarpur police station in north Delhi, after the victim informed her school teacher Thursday morning.

The girl told police that her step father, who is a labourer, raped her in the absence of her mother Wednesday. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone, police said.

CM lays stone for Shantha Insulin Co in Medak

Swine flu losing its severity: TS Govt

The Telangana Government on Thursday claimed that the Swine flu virus has weakened and its severity has come down from 2009 to 2014.

In the current year, from 1st to 28th January, as many as 1,398 samples were tested. Of them, 509 were found to be positive. The number of deaths because of other complications and Swineflu are 21. On Wednesday, a total of 101 samples were tested. Of them, 42 are found positive.

Techie among two killed in road accidents

A 28-year-old man died on the spot when the motorcycle he was riding skidded in Vanasthalipuram police limits.

The accident occurred on Wednesday night on Mirzapur Road. The victim, N Chakradhar, died on the spot. He was an employee of software giant Wipro Technologies and resident of BDL Colony near Hayathnagar.

Centering worker succumbs to injuries

A centering worker died of injuries which he sustained after falling down from the third floor at his workplace.

According to RC Puram police, the deceased, Y Bandaiah, 39, accidentally fell down from third floor of an under-construction building on January 25. He was admitted to the Osmania General Hospital where he died on Thursday. He was a native of Medak district. (INN)

Dowry harassment drives newly-wed to 19yr old suicide

A 19-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment by husband and in-laws for more dowry.

According to Shahinayatgunj police, the deceased, Sony, took the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling at her residence in Chudi Bazar on Wednesday night. She was married to one Ravi in February 2014. However, Ravi and his relatives were allegedly harassing Sony while asking her to bring more dowry from her parents. Unable to bear the harassment, she committed suicide. Police began investigation after registering a case under section 304 B of IPC. (INN)

One killed, two injured in fire mishap

One person was killed and two others were injured in a fire mishap in a private company in Medchal police limits.

The incident occurred in Sumangali Aluminum company on Wednesday night. Three workers of the factory suffered grievous burn injuries. They were admitted to a nearby private hospital where one employee, M Shiva, 24, succumbed on Thursday morning. He was a native of Madhya Pradesh. Two others are still undergoing treatment and are said be to be in a critical condition. (INN)

In a major breakthrough, the ICC has allowed Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir to return to domestic cricket early from his five-year ban for involvement in spot-fixing.

Amir, 22, was jailed for six months and banned for his part in a spot-fixing scam during Pakistan’s tour of England in 2010.

“He (Modi) said he would bring back black money stashed abroad and deposit Rs.15 lakh in the bank accounts of each one of us. But did you get any Rs.15 lakh? He has money to wear suits worth Rs.10 lakh, which clearly indicates how much he thinks for the poor people,” Gandhi said.

Muslim woman editor arrested for reprinting ‘Charlie Hebdo’ cartoons

The woman editor of an Urdu daily was arrested for reprinting a controversial cartoon of Prophet Mohammed which was first published by the French weekly “Charlie Hebdo” but later released on bail, police said Thursday.

Shirin Dalvi, the editor of “Avadhnama”, was arrested by Mumbra Police Wednesday and produced before a magistrate who granted her bail.

“She was arrested on charges pertaining to hurting religious sentiments and related issues by reprinting a controversial cartoon of Prophet Mohammed,” an police official said.

Want good relations with India, says Abdul Basit

Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit on Thursday said that that his country had some concerns over the relations between India and the US but added that it wanted a strong neighbourhood and good relations with India.

“There is no fear but there are concerns which are mentioned in the statement that was issued,” Basit told ANI.

“We want a strong neighbourhood and good relations with India and all our neighbours,” he added.

Telangana to give industrial permission in 15 days

Any investor coming to Telangana will get permission to start the industry within 15 days and if the government fails to meet this deadline, the permission will be deemed granted, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced Thursday.

He said that the new industrial policy, giving right to permission to investors and industrialists, will be launched shortly.

Terming it as the world’s best industrial policy, the chief minister said it would revolutionize industrial system in the country.

Indian jailed in Qatar for killing colleague

A court in Qatar has given a 10-year jail sentence to an Indian man for killing a colleague, a fellow Indian national, according to a media report.

The Primary Court in Doha Wednesday also ordered the 44-year-old Indian accused to pay a blood money of 200,000 Qatari riyals (around $55,000) to the kith and kin of the 26-year-old victim, Gulf Times reported.

The accused, an air-conditioning mechanic, killed his fellow worker in April last year after an altercation at their company accommodation in Al Wukair area of Doha.

Criminal case filed against Kejriwal for abetting bribery

A case was filed Thursday in a court here seeking action against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for exhorting voters in his election speeches to take bribes if offered by the BJP and Congress but to vote for his party.

The criminal case was filed by Arun Kumar, a practicing lawyer in Tis Hazari court, accusing Kejriwal of deliberately abetting bribery by asking Delhi voters to take bribe from the political parties ahead of the Feb 7 assembly elections.

Soldier arrested in Bihar for molesting minor girl

A soldier was arrested Thursday in Bihar for molesting a minor girl on a train, police said here.

The girl was travelling to Begusarai district in Bihar from Delhi along with her family when the soldier molested her early Thursday.

“A soldier was arrested after the girl’s family lodged a complaint with Railway Police that she has been molested by him aboard the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express,” a Government Railway Police (GRP) official said.

A team of GRP arrested the soldier at Patna railway station after a first information report was lodged here, he said.

BJP incite riots wherever elections are due, alleges Rahul

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today accused BJP of inciting riots in poll-bound states and said not a single such incident had happened in the national capital during his party’s 15-year rule.

In an election rally at Seelampur area, he referred to recent “riots” in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri and said no one from other parties except Congress workers helped affected people.

Kuwait arrests activists for anti-Saudi remarks

Police in Kuwait have arrested several online activists for posting remarks considered offensive to Saudi Arabia’s late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on social networking sites, a media report said.

The National Committee for Monitoring Violations (NCV) said Thursday that the Kuwaiti secret police Wednesday arrested online activist Mohammad al-Ajmi outside his home, Press TV reported.

Online activists and former lawmakers said on Twitter that Ajmi, who is a member of the NCV, was detained over tweets he made on Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan refuses to allow Musharraf to travel abroad

Pakistan has refused to allow former president Pervez Musharraf to visit Saudi Arabia to offer condolences over the death of Saudi King Abdullah, officials said Thursday.

Musharraf, who faces high treason and several other chrges, had sought the government’s permission to go to Saudi Arabia.

Musharraf’s name has been placed on the list of those who cannot leave the country without the government permission in view of his cases.

Resolution of Kashmir dispute pivotal for ensuring peace in region: Pak

Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry , while briefing the Ambassadors of the P-5 countries and the EU, on Thursday said the resolution of the dispute on Kashmir between India and the Islamic Republic was pivotal for ensuring peace, security and stability in the region.

Stressing that the “resolution of this long-standing dispute must be ensured in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions”, Chaudhry mentioned that the elections Kashmir “could not be a substitute of the UN monitored plebiscite”.
