A new study has found that people aged over 70 too enjoy an active life.

According to new research from The University of Manchester and NatCen Social Research, more than half (54 percent) of men and almost a third (31 percent) of women over the age of 70 reported they were still sexually active, with a third of these men and women having frequent sex – meaning at least twice a month.

A new research has found that drinking more than two alcoholic beverages daily in middle-age, raises heart risks more than traditional factors.

The study led by American Heart Association, sorted out the data they collected from hospitals based on stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes and other cardiovascular incidences, and compared them from alcohol and health risks like high blood pressure, diabetes and smoking.

Senior Congress leaders on Friday defended the party against allegations levelled by former environment minister Jayanthi Natrajan and questioned the timing of her claims.

“These are baseless allegations , she has no facts. Why did she kept quiet then? Jayanthi Natarjan speaking up now clearly shows that she has been promised some kind of benefit from another party,” said Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza.

Another senior party leader Digvijaya Singh refuted Natrajan’s claims of political interference by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, saying he would be the last person to do so.

Swamy mulls action against Rahul Gandhi under anti corruption act

Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday said he was mulling over filing a case against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi under the Prevention of Corruption Act, based on Jayanti Natarajan’s letter to party president Sonia Gandhi.

“That letter has become a basis for prosecution under prevention of corruption act. The act states that if someone clears a project with the aim of benefitting others, then a criminal case can be filed in which the punishment is seven years of imprisonment,” Swamy told ANI.

Minor gangraped for 4 days

15-year-old girl was kidnapped and allegedly gangraped by four youths for four days in Dhindawli village here, following which two of the accused were arrested, police said.

The minor was kidnapped on Monday when she had gone to relieve herself, SHO VK Sharma said, adding, the girl was kidnapped on gun-point by four youths and taken to a house in Dhindawli village where they raped her repeatedly for four days.

The girl was rescued by the police yesterday in an unconscious state from the house after the victim’s father lodged a missing report.

A Scotland court has ordered an Indian-origin former bank worker, who stole 120,000 pounds (about $181,000) from a client, to pay back just one pound because she has no assets, media reported.

Satnam Kaur, 31, was working as a customer advisor at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Albyn Place, Aberdeen, when she took the money and transferred the large sums home to India in 2011, BBC reported Thursday.

Kaur was jailed for a year at Aberdeen Sheriff Court last year after being found guilty.

US law maker condemns ‘increased attack’ against Indian minorities

Whales can hear through their bones

Using computer simulation of a fin whale head, scientists have discovered that the skulls of at least some baleen whales have acoustic properties that capture the energy of low frequencies and direct it to their ear bones.

Baleen whales, also known as mysticetes, are the largest animals on earth, and include blue whales, minke whales, right whales, gray whales and fin whales.

These whales can emit extremely low frequency vocalisations that travel extraordinary distances underwater.

The wavelengths of these calls can be longer than the bodies of the whales themselves.

Microsoft launches new Outlook app for iOS, Android users

Taking Gmail and other email apps head on, Microsoft has launched a new Outlook app for iOS and Android devices.

The new app is basically a replacement for San Francisco-based email startup Acompli that was acquired by Microsoft for $200 million in December last year, New York Daily News reported.

Outlook will support Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, iCloud and other key email services.

The app will also help users manage calendar and fetch attachments within the same app.

4 year old girl ‘tortured and beaten to death’

Mystery shrouds the death of a four-year-old Shahista Saba at Malkapur village on Thursday.

According to locals the girl was in the custody of a policeman Syed Zakir Ahmed and his wife Razia Sultana residence of Gandhi Nagar, who posed to be her parents but local people said the couple had been looking after her for the past one month.

On hearing the child cries, the villagers informed the Child Line, an NGO, over the phone that the girl was subjected to torture three days ago.

Regular heavy drinking of any kind of alcohol can raise blood pressure and cause heart failure or irregular heartbeats over time with repeated drinking, in addition to stroke and other risks.
