Israel to withdraw forces from Gaza border communities

Israel will withdraw part of its forces securing the country’s communities near the Gaza border Jan 1, the Israeli military said Tuesday.

There are still some forces which will remain on security for three communities adjacent to the border and “ready for any scenario,” the military said in a statement, Xinhua reported.

“The move follows an evaluation of the security situation, with the understanding that the protection the Israel Defence Forces provided to the residents of the Gaza border region is optimal,” it added.

Financial problems drive washer man to suicide

A 32-year-old man committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling in Rajendranagar police limits.

The deceased, P Nuka Raju, a washer man, took the extreme step at his residence in Sooryodaya Colony near Bandlaguda on Monday night. Financial problems are suspected to be the reason that led him to suicide. (INN)

Dowry harassment drives woman to suicide

A 24-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment for more dowry by her husband and in-laws.

According to Viqarabad police, the victim, K Bhagya Laxmi, took the extreme step on December 28 and succumbed at the Osmania General Hospital on Monday night. She was married to one Tirumalaiah, an agriculturist, about six years ago and they had two children. Tirumalaiah and his parents were allegedly harassing Laxmi for more dowry which consequently drove to suicide.

Viqarabad police have registered a case under Sections 498A and 306 of IPC and began investigations. (INN)

Retaliate double, says Parrikar on ceasefire violations by Pak

Reacting to reports of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that India should not hold back and retaliate double.

“The numbers of ceasefire violations across LoC have reduced as compared to last year, but they have increased across international border. I say don’t hesitate, but react appropriately without holding back; retaliate double,” Parrikar said.

Earlier in the day, one Army jawan was injured as Pakistan troops fire at Indian posts in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists rejoiced after the court accepted the acquittal of party president Amit Shah in connection with the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case.

The BJP President reached his party office in Delhi few hours after the court’s decision.

In a major relief to BJP president Amit Shah, a special CBI court in Mumbai earlier in the day acquitted him in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

The CBI had charged Shah, the then Minister of State for Home in Gujarat, as an accused in the killing of gangster Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati.

Court decision on Shah ‘victory of truth’, says BJP

The BJP Tuesday welcomed the discharge of party president Amit Shah by a special court in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case and termed it a “victory of truth”.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley called it Shah’s “vindication”.

Congress leader Raashid Alvi, however, accused the Narendra Modi government of misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The BJP in a statement said Shah’s discharge vindicated the party’s stand and unwavering faith in the judiciary.

Cybercrime cases in Cyberabad rose sharply during 2014

Cybercrime cases rose sharply under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate limits here during 2014 as compared to last year.

A total of 256 cyber crime cases were reported this year as against 109 recorded in 2013, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand told reporters at a press meet here today.

Out of the 256 cyber crime cases 39 were registered for cyber crime offences against women while 76 cases were abusive mails, 31 were online cheating and 29 were online job frauds among others, the CP said.

Shah wants door-to-door campaign for winning Delhi polls

BJP president Amit Shah Tuesday asked party workers to “overcome laziness” and start a door-to-door poll campaign in the national capital and ensure that the party gets absolute majority in the Delhi assembly.

Security forces, administration destroy marijuana cultivation in Tripura

A joint operation carried out by security forces and the administration on Tuesday saw hundreds of acres of illegal marijuana crops destroyed in the Jarulbachai district of West Tripura.

Acting on a tip-off, the Border Security Force, state police, excise department and state administration found illegal marijuana cultivations across the hillocks. The forces destroyed and burnt the illegal plants.

According to reports, the marijuana, which was bound for Bangladesh, amounted to over Rs one crore.
