Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday expressed hope that the much-awaited GST (Goods and Services Tax) Bill, which provides for a uniform indirect tax structure, would be introduced in the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament.

“We will try and introduce GST Bill in this session. GST Bill would be taken up by the Cabinet after (the) Empowered Committee (of state finance Minister) meeting on December 12,” Jaitley said in the national capital on Monday.

Eggless Almond and Cashew Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup maida

1/4 cup cashew powder (grind cashews in a mixer)

1/4 cup almond powder

1/4 cup sugar

3 tsp ghee

A pinch of cardamom powder

A pinch of grated coconut (dry)

1/2 cup milk

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp baking powder

Method

Preheat the oven to 350 degree F.

Grease the baking pan and apply some ghee. Use parchment or wax paper to cover the bottom and sides of the pan and keep it aside.

Take a bowl and mix cashew powder, almond powder, maida, baking soda, baking powder and cardamom powder.

China’s PLA beefs up anti-graft drive after series of scandals

Stung by a series of corruption scandals involving top Generals, China’s military has issued a new set of rules to beef up supervision to fight graft within the ranks to properly utilise the massive defence spending.

The new rules promulgated by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) came into effect today.

It targets specific high risk areas like project construction and medical and weapons procurement where more than 90 per cent of the corruption took place in the military, an official with the military procuratorate was quoted as saying by the official media today.

Infant found buried in Australian beach

The body of an infant was found buried under 30 cms of sand in Sydney’s Maroubra Beach.

Two brothers, aged six and seven, who were digging at the southern end of the beach Sunday found the body, the Syney Morning Herald reported.

A police officer said that the depth at which the infant’s body was found and the distance from the sea indicated the victim had been deliberately buried.

“The sex and age of the child are unable to be determined at this point due to the decomposition,” he said.

Talks with Shiv Sena positive, says Maharashtra CM Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said that interlocutory talks with Shiv Sena leaders were heading in the right direction insofar as the latter’s inclusion in the state government was concerned.

250 gm baby potatoes

Salt

1/4 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp red chilli flakes

1 Tbsp semolina (sooji)

1 1/2 Tbsp ghee

1 1/2 Tbsp garlic, finely chopped

2-3 green chillies, finely chopped

Method

Scrub and steam the potatoes till they’re tender. Cool and peel them.

Take a bowl and mix salt (to taste), sugar, chilli flakes, turmeric powder and semolina together. Coat the potatoes well with this mixture.

Brain has weak spot for Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia

The human brain has a fragile spot for Alzheimer’s disease and schizophrenia, a study involving 484 healthy people aged between eight and 85 years has found.

The team of British researchers looked at how the brain naturally changes as people age.

The images revealed that parts of the brain that were the last to develop were also the first to show signs of age-related decline, BBC reported.

When the team led by Gwenaelle Douaud from Oxford analysed scans of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and scans of patients with schizophrenia, they found the same brain regions were affected.

TMC stages walk out in LS after Shah’s name surface in Sahara scam

Haryana Govt. to honour two sisters for taking on molesters in moving bus

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar,in a statement released on Monday, said that his government will honour the two sisters who took on three alleged molesters in a moving bus.

He said the girls will be honoured and would get cash awards on Republic Day for their bravery.

“Both the girls had shown indomitable courage and bravery by opposing the misdemeanour of three youth who tried to “molest” them in a moving bus of Haryana Roadways at Rohtak, Khattar said in his statement.

He also said that effective steps will be taken to ensure the security of women passengers.

1.4 million people apply for 22,200 civil servant jobs in China

“This study adds to the growing body of evidence that a season of play in a contact sport can affect the brain,” said Christopher Whitlow, associate professor of radiology at Wake Forest School of Medicine in the US.

For the study, the researchers studied 24 high school football players between the ages of 16 and 18.

Anytime Fitness to open 40 new centres by 2015

Health club chain Anytime Fitness will invest Rs 75 crore to open 40 new centres across the country by the end of the next year.

Anytime Fitness, which entered India in 2012 with its first centre in Delhi, currently has 10 fitness centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Dimapur(Nagaland) and Bhuj (Gujrat). The new centres will be based on franchise model.
