The tenure of office of the elected representatives of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation comes to an end on Wednesday 3rd December. All the executive powers will be transferred to Special Officer of GHMC. He will take all the decision till the next body is formed. It is understood that Govt. of Telangana wants to reallocate Municipal constituencies. It is being considered seriously to GHMC into two or three corporations like Delhi and Mumbai. Hollywood star couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis will reportedly have a special appearance in the upcoming musical comedy-drama film ‘Annie’.

Singer Ed Sheeran surprised a young fan on a TV show while she was singing his hit number ‘Lego House’ and then crooned along with her.

Sheeran, 23, surprised Aimee Keogh on an Irish TV program ‘The Late Late Show’.

Keogh was demonstrating how a karaoke application works and singing every word to the song when Sheeran walked onto the stage. After giving the young fan a big hug, Sheeran joined her to sing more lines from the song, reported Aceshowbiz.

Search for gunman who killed 4 in West Virginia

A manhunt was underway for a gunman suspected in three separate shootings that left four people dead in north-central West Virginia, including a woman who had filed a domestic violence complaint against the man sought by police.

Two of the shootings happened in the Westover area and the other was in the Cheat Lake area in Monongalia County, said state police spokesman Lt Michael Baylous, yesterday.

The recent decline in oil prices will help boost global economy, IMF chief Christine Lagarde has said, as global oil prices have tumbled to multi year low.

“It is good news for the global economy,” Lagarde said at The Wall Street Journal CEO Council annual meeting here yesterday.

For the United States, low energy prices would help accelerate the economic growth to a 3.5 per cent next year from the October forecast of 3. 1 per cent, she said, adding that Europe is also expected to benefit from lower oil prices.

Polling begins for second phase of J-K elections

Voting began this morning in 18 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir going to polls in second of the five-phased state elections.

People have by and large so far stayed indoor due to cold weather and heavy fog engulfing the Kashmir valley.

The polls will seal the fate of 175 candidates, including deputy speaker, four ministers and 11 other sitting MLAs, amidst tight security in Kulgam and Kupwara districts following attacks on sarpanches by militants.

Two, including woman, held for running brothel from flat

Two persons, including a woman, were arrested today for allegedly running a brothel from a flat in Jubilee Hills area here, police said.

A team of sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force (west zone) raided the flat on a credible information sourced from a website domain allegedly used by one of the accused, and also rescued two women sex workers.

The accused are identified as R Anjali, organiser of the brothel house, and K B Sudhakar, a sub-organiser, said a statement from the city police.

Australia reveals plan to alleviate forced marriages

A new plan to combat forced marriages, human trafficking and slavery within Australia has been launched by the federal government.

The safety plan and the launch of a Forced Marriage Community Package encourages young women to speak to civil society organisations if they are being sent by their parents or guardians overseas as part of an arranged marriage, Xinhua reported.

The plan came as Australia’s Immigrant Women’s Health Service revealed that a nine-year-old Sydney girl had allegedly left the country to be married overseas. It is one of 12 reported cases since June.

Voters queue up in Jammu

Voters lined up at polling stations across the Jammu region in the second of the five-phase elections in Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday.

However, intense morning fog and winter chill prevented them to come out in large numbers in the Kashmir Valley.

Balloting began in 18 assembly constituencies Tuesday, officials said.

Enthusiastic voters lined up in queues outside polling stations in Udhampur, Chenani, Ramnagar and Reasi constituencies, while the voter turnout was low in the morning in Gulabgarh, Gool Arnas, Mendhar and Poonch Havelli constituencies of the Jammu region.

Polling begins in Jharkhand

Voting began Tuesday in the second of the five-phase assembly elections in Jharkhand, officials said.

Balloting is being held for 20 of the 81 assembly seats in this phase.

Stepfather rapes minor girl for one year

A 14-year-old school girl was allegedly raped by her stepfather over the past one year in Medchal area of neighbouring Ranga Reddy district of Telangana, police said today.

The accused, identified as Chandra (in his mid 30s) allegedly sexually assaulted the teenager, a class VII student, over the past one year following which she became pregnant, said Inspector of Medchal police station K Shashank Reddy quoting the complaint.

“The girl was not going to school for the past two months as she had become pregnant,” he said.

Police still clueless in daring ATM heist in North Delhi

Delhi Police is still groping in the dark in the daring ATM heist in Kamla Nagar here, in which a security guard was killed, as investigators have not yet been able to get any credible lead in the case.

Police has now turned to dump data – collection of mobile numbers operating in the area when the incident took place – to identify the assailants.

“Several leads which we had been working in the last 48 hours have led into a dead end. We are now looking for new clues,” said a senior police official investigating the case.
