Hindu boy with Muslim name arrested in connection with Bengaluru blast

A Hindu teen-aged boy was detained in connection with the low intensity bomb blast which struck the Silicon Valley of India on Sunday.

The Bengaluru police arrested him for sending out tweets claiming responsibile for the blast and also threatening more bomb blasts in Bengaluru.

The arrested boy, named Alok Kumar is a first year engineering student of a college located on outskirts of Bengaluru.

A fake account using the name Abdul Khan was created on the microblogging site and the nabbed boy claimed responsibility for Sunday’s blast in a series of tweets, police said.

Expert claims developing nations could benefit from Chinese fighter jets

China’s deputy editor-in-chief of Aerospace Knowledge magazine has said that modern fighter jets from the country could help developing nations that cannot afford advanced fifth generation fighter jets.

According to the China Daily, Wang Ya’nan said that many developing countries’ air forces have neither requirement to launch distant airstrikes nor do they have menace from stealth aircraft.

He said that The FC-1 Fierce Dragon can have a meeting with the air defense tasks of most developing countries that cannot afford fifth-generation fighter jets.

Charges against Amit Shah dropped in Sohrabuddin encounter case

In a major relief to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, a special CBI court on Tuesday discharged him in the case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter killing in 2005.

“I am of the opinion that the inference drawn by CBI is not accepted in totality and he (Shah) cannot be charged as an accused,” special CBI Judge M.B. Gosavi said in a brief order pronounced in the court. Details of the judgement will be available later.

Sister of doomed AirAsia flight’s co-pilot says he dreamed of flying as a boy

The sister of Remi Plesel, the French co-pilot of the doomed AirAsia flight QZ8501 said that flying was his passion.

Paying tribute to Plesel, his sister said that he was an “excellent” pilot who had dreamed of flying as a boy, News 24 reported.

She said that it was his dream to become a pilot since his young days and the dream came true.

More than 40 bodies have been recovered from the sea along with the debris from the missing AirAsia plane, confirmed authorities.

Obama not ruling out reopening of US embassy in Tehran

US President Barack Obama is not ruling out the possible reopening of US embassy in Tehran.

According to CBS News, in an interview taped last week, Obama, on being asked about the possibility of the US embassy reopening in Tehran, said that “these things have to go in steps.”

Earlier, Obama had said that the United States could diplomatically resolve its nuclear dispute with Iran in the next six months.

Obama also made a personal appeal to leading US senators to postpone new sanctions on Iran terming this effort as “a test worth conducting”, Dawn News reported.

Two Indians killed in Thailand road accident

Three people, including two Indian tourists, were killed and five others injured when a van carrying an Indian family crashed into a parked water tanker near the airport here.

The two tourists killed in the accident Monday have been identified as Nupur Dewan, 29, and Suresh Kumar Dewan, 68, the Bangkok Post reported Tuesday.

The accident happened Monday morning on the elevated road leading to the airport terminal, and also left wounded eight other people, including two Indian toddlers, aged one and two, and two workers on the truck, according to police.

Silver futures up on firm global cues

Silver prices rose by Rs 169 to Rs 36,653 per kg in futures trading today as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions amid a firming trend in the precious metals overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 169, or 0.46 per cent, at Rs 36,653 per kg in business turnover of 432 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 158, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 37,312 per kg in 9 lots.

Senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday termed the acquittal of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case as a ‘real fake encounter’.

The Rajya Sabha member said, “This sought of discharging is what I would call a real fake encounter where the cases have been dropped despite all the evidence.”

Italian marines’ case: Security expert calls for consensus between India, Italy

Security and strategic analyst, Commodore (retired) C Uday Bhaskar , on Tuesday called for a political consensus between India and Italy to resolve the Italian marines’ case.

“These two officials are part of the Italian military and therefore a different framework or context needs to be introduced into the whole case. But, if a political accommodation or a modus vivendi could be arrived at, it would be a very positive development as far as India-Italy relations are concerned,” Commodore (retd.) Bhaskar said.
