A 38-year-old man died of injuries which he suffered when the bike he was riding lost control and hit another vehicle.

According to police, the accident occurred near Uppal petrol pump on July 26. The deceased, K Eshwar Prasad, hit a vehicle carrying pipes of Metro Rail after losing control of his motorcycle. He was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital for treatment where he died Saturday. He was a resident of Vijayapuri Colony of Vanasthalipuram and an employee of a private firm. (INN)

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the Lake View Guest House here on Saturday.

The Union Minister assured Naidu that the Centre would help the State in every way possible. He also asked the AP Government to come out with a concrete plan on the VGTM Metro Rail Project, Housing and other development programmes so that the Central government could offer assistance. The issue of granting special status to Andhra Pradesh was also discussed in the meeting. (INN)

The controversy over the Kausarnag Yatra by Kashmiri Pandits is being raked up by “forces inimical to communal harmony” in Jammu and Kashmir, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said Saturday.

“Kausarnag Yatra controversy is being raked up by forces inimical to communal harmony in the state. I have already said the Yatra would not pose any danger to the ecology in the area,” he said at a party convention in Udhampur town of Jammu district.

Attacking the Mamata Banerjee government over rising encephalitis deaths in West Bengal, the BJP Saturday sought the intervention of the state governor in the matter.

A minor girl was kidnapped from outside her home and raped in a moving car by her neighbour and two of his friends, police said Saturday. The three accused have been arrested.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon in Mukundpur area of north Delhi.

The three men – Satish Sisodiya, Sanjay and Giju – were arrested hours later after some residents noted the number of the car in which the crime took place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday said he will try to identify steps to strengthen cooperation in energy, trade and investment between India and Nepal in his talks with Nepali leaders.

“We will identify steps to strengthen our bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including trade and investment, hydro power, agriculture and agro-processing, environment, tourism, education, culture and sports,” Modi said in a statement ahead of his two-day visit beginning Sunday.

Telangana State forests and tourism Minister Jogu Ramaiah today visited the Deer park at Vanasthalipuram, along with the officials concerned.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that many programmes are being worked out to develop forests in the State in the coming days. He said that a programme called ‘Haritha Haaram’ would be prepared shortly, under which 40 lakh samplings would be planted in each Assembly constituency. At least two people have been detained in connection with an explosion at a metal factory in China’s Jiangsu province that claimed the lives of 68 people and injured 187 others.

There were 264 people at the site when the explosion hit the wheel hub polishing workshop owned by the Taiwanese-invested Kunshan Zhongrong Metal company in Kunshan city Saturday morning, Xinhua reported.

Kunshan is a small city located outside of Suzhou in Jiangsu province of eastern China.

Kunshan Zhongrong’s two senior executives have been placed under police custody, sources said.

A 35-year-old man died of electric shock Saturday after he touched a door in which current was flowing due to a defective wire, police said.

The incident happened after the man withdrew money from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Holambi Kalan village in west Delhi, police said.

Shyamnath Pandey, who worked in a factory in Bawana area, died of electric shock in the afternoon after he touched the door in which current was flowing because of some loose wire, police said.

He was about to move out of the ATM booth when the incident happened, police said.
