33 killed in Iraq violence

At least 33 people were killed and 94 were wounded in clashes with Sunni militants and bomb attacks across Iraq, sources said Saturday.

In one attack, a suicide bomber blew up an explosive-laden car into a crowd of security forces and allied volunteers at a recruitment centre in Balad city, some 80 km north of Baghdad, leaving four volunteers killed and some 32 others wounded, a police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

1,700 Palestinians killed in Gaza offensive

The Palestinian health ministry said Sunday that at least 1,712 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its offensive in the Gaza Strip against Hamas July 8.

This number included 398 children, 207 women and 74 old people, the ministry said in a statement, adding that 9,080 people have been injured so far, including 2,744 children and 1,750 women, Xinhua reported.

Israel has confirmed that 61 soldiers have died in combat, while Palestinian shelling has also killed three civilians in Israel.

Complaint against Aamir Khan over Nude Pose in PK poster

A complaint was filed in a local court today against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan over an “obscene” poster of his upcoming movie ‘PK’.

The complaint was filed by LLB first year student, Abhishek Bhargava in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Dilip Gupta.

“In the poster of the film ‘PK’, which is slated for release on December 19, actor Aamir Khan has posed nude, which will promote obscenity in the society. Therefore, I have requested the court to register a case in the matter under relevant sections,” he told reporters.

GHMC demolishes illegal sheds at Mallepally

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation demolished 22 illegal sheds near Mallepally Mosque here on Saturday.

The Telangana Government on Saturday issued a GO on Saturday constituting the Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE).

The GO has been issued under Section 101 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. In its order, the Telangana Government contended that as per the Reorganisation Act, it was empowered to make adaptions and modifications of any law made in united Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, the GO has been issued adapting the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) Act, 1988.

Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen on Saturday was granted residential visa by India following her meeting with Union home minister Rajnath Singh seeking long-term extension of her residence permit earlier in the day.

Man commits suicide after bid to molest minor girl

A 47-year-old man committed suicide after he was caught trying to molest a minor girl.

According to Banjara Hills police, the deceased, D Satyanarayana, allegedly took a minor girl of the same locality on the terrace of his house in Indira Nagar of Banjara Hills on July 30. While he was trying to molest her, the girl’s mother incidentally came to the terrace and raised an alarm. Felt insulted after being caught for his actions, he immediately jumped down from the terrace on the second floor.

10-year-old girl killed, six injured in road accident

A 10-year-old girl was killed and six other members of her family were injured when the car they were travelling in was hit by another car coming from opposite direction.

According to Kottur police, the accident occurred on Friday evening near Vinayak Steel Company on NH 44 when the family was returning from Jahangir Peer Dargah to their residence in Bhavani Nagar. 35yr old women beaten by husband & Death

A 35-year-old woman, who was brutally beaten up by her husband, succumbed to the injuries at the hospital.

According to Kalwakurthy police, the shocking incident occurred on July 30 when the accused, Niranjan, hit her wife V Lakshmamma on the head with a wooden block at their residence in Kalwakurthy. The incident reportedly took place in the presence of their three daughters. She was immediately rushed to the Osmania General Hospital where she died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment.
