NSF GM Hangs self in office

M G R Sharma, general manager of Nizam Sugar Factory head office at Basheerbagh here on Monday night committed suicide by hanging till death. He was 59 years.
As the NSF general manager failed to return home till Monday night, his family members lodged a complaint with the police. The police, who immediately plunged into action found the officer hanging in his office. His body was sent to the Osmania General Hospital for postmortem.
The reasons that compelled him to resort to extreme step are not known. (NSS)

CM accorded rousing reception at Karimnagar

TRS supremo K Chandrasekhara Rao, who arrived here for the first time after assuming office as Chief Minister today was accorded tumultuous reception in Karimnagar district.

Police begin probe into NSF GM suicide

The Saifabad Police has begun investigation into the alleged suicide by General Manager of Nizam’s Sugar Company Ltd M Janaki Ram Sharma.

Sharma, 55, was found hanging to the ceiling fan at his office in Basheerbagh on Tuesday morning. Earlier, his wife Mahalakshmi lodged a complaint with the police stating that her did husband did not return home on Monday night. The police immediately swung into action and first visited his office where they found Sharma hanging to the ceiling.

Businessman attacked by brothers-in-law succumb to injuries

The 38-year-old businessman who was injured after being attacked allegedly by his brothers-in-law succumbed at the Osmania General Hospital.

According to Langar Houz police, the deceased, Shaik Ibrahim, had some argument with his wife on August 3. She complained about it to her brothers Irfan and Imran who came to their house at Moghal Nagar at Ring Road along with their friends – Khadeer, Sajju, Hameed and Khader Ali. They allegedly beat up Ibrahim with a cricket bat and wickets and later pushed him down from the first floor.

Labourer killed after inhaling poisonous gas

A 21-year-old man labourer after accidentally inhaling some poisonous gas at his work place.

According to Pet Basheerbagh, the deceased Surender Singh and another worker Bajrang Singh were unloading barrels carrying some chemicals from a DCM Van. One barrel accidentally fell down leading to leakage of some poisonous gas. Both Surender and Bajrang fell unconscious and were immediately rushed to Gandhi Hospital where Surender died on Tuesday morning. (INN)

Stolen cell phone solves murder mystery

The Central Crime Station of Viqarabad Police solved a four-month-old murder mystery with the help of a stolen cell phone.

Disclosing the details, Viqarabad Inspector Lachiram Naik said that an agriculturist Anantaiah was found murdered near Kutveypally of Ranga Reddy district on April 28. He was a resident of Baidupally near Dharur. Police had no clues to solve the case except for the information that the victim’s cell phone was missing which was switched off.

GHMC employee commits suicide

A 28-year-old man committed suicide by consuming some unknown poison.

The deceased, P Sandeep Kumar, an employee of GHMC, resorted to the extreme step at his residence in Mettuguda on August 1. He was admitted to Gandhi Hospital where he died Monday night. According to police, Sandeep’s wife went to her parents’ house after having an argument with him and refused to return. The same is suspected to have led Sandeep to suicide, according to Chilkalguda police. (INN)

Auto driver succumb to injuries

A 45-year-old man died of injuries which he suffered when the auto-rickshaw he was driving turned turtle.

According to Osmania University police, the deceased, Anjaneyulu met with the accident near Tarnaka on July 13. His auto-rickshaw turned turtle after hitting a road divider when he tried to save a stray dog that suddenly came on the road. He suffered grievous injuries and was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital. Crime against women has risen in BJP rule: Sachin Pilot

Expressing concerns over “rising” crime rate in Rajasthan, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot today said there has been an increase in the cases of crime against women during the BJP rule.

A recently-released report of Rajasthan Crime Records Bureau has pointed out towards the rise in crime rate and a Jaipur Police Commissionerate Report states that crime against women has risen by 25 per cent, the PCC President said in a release.

He claimed that 73 per cent of the women in the state are unemployed which shows that the fair sex here are financially weaker and not empowered.

Delhi University announces dates for students union polls

Delhi University on Tuesday announced dates for the election of office bearers of Delhi University’s Student Union (DUSU) and members of Central Council. The elections will be held on September 12. The date and venue for the counting of votes will be announced later, Registrar Alka Sharma said in a statement.

The nomination papers for the office bearers of DUSU are to be submitted to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, DUSU elections 2014-15, latest by September 3.

No double standards on Insurance Bill: Rahul Gandhi

Rejecting the charge that it was doing a U-turn on Insurance Bill and being “confrontational”, Congress on Tuesday alleged that the government’s stand smacks of “arrogance” and questioned BJP’s “hurry” to get the measure passed after having “blocked” it “for six years”.

“I think, there are no double standards on the Insurance Bill by the Congress,” party vice president Rahul Gandhi told reporters in Parliament House.

At the AICC briefing, party spokesperson Anand Sharma said that it is very strange that the Opposition parties are being treated as “petitioners to the government”.

Telangana bus-train collision: 3 students still critical

The condition of three students, injured in bus-train collision at an unmanned railway crossing in Telangana’s Medak district last month, continues to remain critical.

Nithusha(7), who was undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital, was today discharged while three boys in the age group of 6-7 years continued to remain critical and they were under close observation, doctors said.

Sharath, Prashant, and Varun Goud are still under acute medical care management, Yashoda Hospital Chief Operating Officer Dr R Chandrasekar said in a release.

Telangana to develop water grid on lines of Gujarat project

The Telangana government Tuesday announced Telangana Water Grid project at an estimated cost of Rs.25,000 crore to permanently solve the drinking water problem in the state.

The grid, which will use 160 TMC ft (thousand million cubic feet) water, will be completed in four years, said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Karimnagar Tuesday night.

Winding up his day-long visit, the chief minister said the grid would use 80 TMC ft each from Godavari and Krishna rivers. All ongoing drinking water projects will be integrated into the proposed project.
